The restaurant was all-around awesome! The drinks, food and service were amazing. Thank you for making my birthday celebration memorable!
Merchants is our go-to spot for dinner when we are in the LoBro neighborhood, whether we are going to the Symphony, the Ryman or just cruising the area. First, they take reservations which is mandatory when you are on a schedule and the food is delicious. Service is excellent. though the vibes are different, eating up or down stairs makes no difference (except for price)...the quality and atmosphere is spot on. LOVE the tater tots and mac and cheese. Our guests LOVED the chili.
Visiting Nashville for the first time, I researched restaurants prior to our trip. We were looking forward to having dinner here. I ordered the “larger cut” of prime rib, medium-rare. Instead of 1 large cut, I received 2 pieces of meat - one piece was cooked medium-plus, and the other piece was an end cut, which was well done. They should have just told me they were out of prime rib rather than try to pass this off! Very disappointed! Throughout this experience, our server was extremely professional and gracious.
Good local food and location was great, right on Broadway! It was a good break from the bar scene to step into a casual, modern environment. Food was outstanding with many southern options!
Service was great and most of the food was amazing.
Very friendly & attentive staff and absolutely AMAZING food! The Salmon BLT is to die for and the double cheeseburger is amazing. Had the duck fat tater tots with an array of delicious sauces and it was incredible.
Service was very good but restaurant was crowded and too noisy to carry on a conversation. No valet parking on the Sunday we ate there. Although advertised with a brunch menu, only two items came close to brunch.
Food was fabulous and the service was excellent! Would definitely recommend the duck fat tater tots especially.
Food was delicious, as were the cocktails. I tried the Duck fat Tater Tots, and they are as good as everyone raves about. This was a quick lunch, with reservations and there was a lot of activity downtown, so expect to wait on busy weekends without reservations. I had to change reservations due to the traffic and congestion and they were very accommodating. Service was very good!
I dined with clients at Merchant's Table, and we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. Service was prompt and attentive, the food delicious, and the ambiance enjoyable. The restaurant is conveniently located within a vibrant downtown bar scene. I look forward to another visit to Merchant's Table the next time I am visiting Nashville.
We had the best server (Nikki ) and the best food. This was our second time, never disappoints. We will be back.
You have to have the duck fat tater tots and the creole honey mustard. I also like the grilled cheese sandwich with soup, had the chicken artichoke soup this time, I will go back to tomato bisque next time
If you dine on 2nd floor, its a beautiful cosy room. For someone who does not like meaty American fare, this place was a great find in Nashville. Great service and tasty food! Good for pescatarians
Visiting Nashville for the first time we went to Merchants for a special dinner. Rating a restaurant on Valentine’s Day probably isn’t fair but we have gone out to restaurants for the past 30 years with far better experience. The service was very good and the building is terrific. However the food was just ok. The Prime Rib that I was served was in two pieces that were thin cut and the truffle Mac and Cheese was very dry. The bar list was quite extensive but I did not like my manhattan that was over powered with too much bitters. It was not a bad experience and like I said, it may not be a fair review since we were there on Valentine’s Day.
Great meal, great service, right on Broadway. Highly recommended.
Atmosphere was more than energetic, it was downright obnoxious at times.....2nd floor NE corner. Granted, that is due more to group behavior at adjoining tables and not the venue itself, but this was a business dinner and the majority of the time it was difficult to hear.
My wife and I were celebrating our 28th wedding anniversary. The staff could not have been nicer, from the hostess desk to the servers to the manager. They actually celebrated with us without intruding on the privacy of the occasion. We can’t stop telling people about our experience.
Our experience at Merchant is best described as mediocre. I had some friends in town visiting and we wanted to go somewhere downtown for dinner before heading out to the bards on Broadway. Their location is excellent, I'll give them that. But nothing else is excellent about this place. The service was pretty terrible (slow, forgot things, waiter really only came over 2-3 times the whole meal, asked us if we were ready to order about 2 minutes after sat down), and the food was so-so at best. The place also felt really run down and beat up. The photos online were clearly taken 6 years ago immediately after a renovation or they had some very good touch ups done to them. If you don't really care about what you're eating before you go get smashed at the bars, then this is the place for you. But if you have any semblance of a pallet or value of a dollar for the food you eat, look elsewhere.
Note: We at in the bistro part. I have no idea what the upstairs is like.
Amazing dinner. Steak was cooked fantastic. It was pricy but that’s only due t the nice restaurant and locality. Excellent reservation.
We really enjoyed our brunch here! Anna, our server, is awesome! She has such a great sense of humor & was very attentive to us; making great suggestions & happy to bring us anything we asked for with a bright smile and great attitude! She is the most personable server we have had in years. The baked pimento cheese is the bomb! Thanks, Anna, and we will be back to see you on the next trip to Nashville.
Loved the Duck Fat Tater Tots!!! They were awesome!
The atmosphere was great, as was the food and service.
Can't go wrong at Merchant's!
Merchant’s was highly recommended by a tour guide but we found the menu to be limited, the food just “good”, the service adequate to good and the noise level too high. They have two levels, the upstairs dining room and the down stairs Bistro. We ate in the Bistro.
I LOVED OUR TIME AT MERCHANTS! The gal who helped us was beyond amazing. Super nice and super knowledgeable. I am coming back feb 14th with my parents this time and so excited to return! -Gavin Hill
Made a reservation, they seated us in the downstairs which was miserably loud with drunk folks from out of town. The food was subpar, especially for the price. Used to be one of the best places for dinner downtown, maybe the upstairs still is? So make sure to request upstairs if you make a reservation.
Food taste was average overall, not a great blend of flavors (fried green tomatoes) or consistency/freshness (pulled pork tasted felt reheated and not fresh)
Server was inattentive, had to have another waiter help.
They took the pulled pork off the bill, but the experience said not worth it to try again
We were looking forward to eating here for a while. The fried green tomatoes had a strange taste and were luke warm yet burnt. The club sandwich and salad were both very bland and something I’d expect at a cheap diner. Very expensive and not worth $80 check plus $20 parking. Servers were friendly.
We were not impressed with this restaurant. The food and beverages were mediocre (especially for the price), the service was just okay, and it was loud, although when we asked the server to turn the music down, he did.
Food was ok, service ok. Nothing memorable, probably won’t go back any time soon.
Great service and the food is always good at Merchants!
Been about a year since I had been to Merchants. In my opinion it has moved down market and now targets tourists with a more limited menu and moderately high prices. My crawfish gumbo was mediocre at best. The roux was watery, the onion not minced (large pieces) and too few crawfish. My wife and I used to go here fairly regularly before attending the symphony. This was a disappointment compared to previous experiences.
Loved the location, the style of the inside and the food was AMAZING!
This was my second dinner at Merchant’s (downstairs) and had another fantastic dining experience w both food and service! Our server was very attentive and Valencia went above and beyond to make my birthday special by having the staff sign a birthday card for me! The food and drinks are priced fairly for being in the heart of downtown. Would absolutely return again during my next trip to Nashville!
Always love going here before I go see a show at the Ryman. The staff is always first rate. I wish they would bring back the chicken salad though!
Great place to eat. We hadn't been there in a while, but still an awesome restaurant. You will not be disappointed in the food or service.
Wonderful birthday dinner!
We had a great meal before going to the Ryman. Great atmosphere, great service. Huge helpings!
Great place to eat before a Predators game. Love the duck fat cooked tater tots.
Great meal. Excellent service. Our waiter, Eric was a stand out. Cznt say enough good things. Overall, a wonderful experience.
Great food and service! Be sure to ask for a table on the second floor if you want a more upscale experience.
We lived in Franklin for 5 years . We frequently go downtown when our if town visitors come in town . We have been to merchants and recommending merchants many times . Our son was in town and he wanted to go downtown for xmas eve day brunch - the titans were playing that day . The food was terrible . My husband had gumbo and he could not eat it - it had the consistency of flour/gravy - he loves gumbo and has had it all over the country - and IT WAS $18 fir a bowl! My son had turkey club - cane in plain white toasted bread and the turkey was dry and no flavor - I had a Cobb salad with rotessire chicken - same as the turkey - no favor - dry
We will not going back soon - try party fowl or the southern - have not been disappointed by them yet
