If you have a reservation for a hopping Saturday evening, you need to be a tad assertive with the hosting crew as we arrived a tad early for our 7:00 reservation as did two other couples and watched while one of them who had checked in after us with the same time slot got seated before us. Minor glitch as the food was great, our server Danielle topnotch and the ambience - we were seated overlooking Broadway - entertaining.
We ate on the first floor with a group of 6 and it was perfect for us! The food and drinks were amazing and the atmosphere was great too!
Very loud with slow, poor service...we waited at every step of the way....seeing people get seated and depart....
The food was great, swordfish and dessert were fantastic.
I made a reservation weeks earlier for 545 on March 22nd. We arrived early but didn't mind waiting... however we didn't expect to wait 30 mins after our reservation. The hostess' were very slow, confused and poor at communication. The only reason we were seated at 615 was because I checked in again for the third time. If I hadn't, I felt like we would have never been seated. The manager did come over apologize for the wait half way through our meal , which we appreciated. Our food, drinks and service once seated was a little slow but other than that great. As I had worked in the service industry for years I would never let a table wait for 30 mins after their reso with out apologizing and offering a round of drinks while they waited etc.
Wonderful experience! The food was delicious. Teres Major steak was phenomenal!
Great food and atmosphere. Highly recommend for dinner. Nice location in walking distance of Bridgestone arena.
Perfect location and old school classy within the craziness of Broadway! Celebrating our anniversary there and the staff made us feel very special! Food was just the right portion size and delicious!
Excellent menu with plenty to choose from. FOOD WAS OUTSTANDING! Unique menu and very tough to decide what to order. Nice venue and had corner table by the windows to watch all the activities going on outside. Will be back!
Dinner was delicious. The service and ambiance were great!
Returned for lunch downstairs the next day!
When we first arrived we were a bit dismayed to find that there wasn’t a table ready for us, despite our reservation, however the staff quickly made amends and accommodated us while we waited, which made up for the slight inconvenience. Great service isn’t always about everything being perfect, it’s also about how well the staff responds to the imperfect parts. Great job y’all!
I have never seen a better staffed establishment. All staff work together to make sure your needs are constantly met. My favorite place to eat on Broadway, hands down. Reservations needed.
Excellent place. Delicious food and calm spot on Broadway (at least on the second floor)
The dinner and service were excellent
Always go to Merchants when in Nashville. Dinner or drinks, it never dissapoints.
Turkey BLT and chips were very good.
The service was miserably slow. The waiter did not come back for more rounds of drinks. The steaks took far too long to come out for rare cooked. The meat itself was decent but did not align with the price. We had to rush out because it took over an hour and a half with out apps.
Our waiter, Nic, was very personable. His recommendations for cocktails and entrees was spot on.
Took the boyfriend here for a birthday dinner on the second floor. The ambiance was perfect - candlelit table for two in the corner by a window with a beautiful view of bustling broadway at night. The food and service were both amazing as well, I had the oysters and he had a steak along with a few sides. We ate it all along with a few drinks! It was a perfect beginning to our night on the town.
Beautiful building in the middle of broadway. We ate lunch here - good cocktails and food was prepared quickly. I liked the jambalaya a lot.
We go ever time we are in Nashville. We have never had anything but the best there.
‘Great food, great service. Perfect place to go before a show at Ryman
The restaurant was really cool but the food was a little overpriced for what you got. We did love the popcorn!
Excuses should be the name
My husband and I made reservations for a birthday weekend. The entire staff is so accommodating to to gluten and dairy allergy needs! From the hostess (Samantha), an extremely attentive waitress (Christa), and manager (Jonathan) who understands dietary needs due to allergies and autoimmune disorders. Christa worked closely with the chef to ensure we were able to have a fantastic meal and experience. This was by far our best dining out experience. Thank you all!!
Service was excellent. Our server new the menu very well and took the time to make suggestions and paced our experience perfectly. The atmosphere was upscale classic and romantic. The appetizer and entrees were culinary master pieces. Cooked to perfection, great presentation and pure flavor. Highly recommend making reservations and request upstairs seating.
First time in Nashville. Place looked great from the outside and inside. My wife and I went in to ask about reservation. First impression with Hostess should have been indicator of what our experience would be.
Went ahead and booked a reservation for early dinner. Server seemed disinterested from the moment we decided to have water rather than a drink. The appetizer "fried green tomatoes" with pimento cheese was good, but the entree were less than good. I only ate about three bites of the Jambalaya. Server came over and didn't bother to ask if the food was fine. We felt like he just wanted us to move on for the next table.
To be fair the ambiance is great, but the service is subpar. I would not recommend and will not return.
We had the catfish and French dip as mains. The tater tots are a good appy. Our server was helpful and professional.
Merchant’s food was amazing and our server, Jameson was very helpful! We had wonderful window seating on the second floor. It will definitely be a place to visit the next time we are in town!
Great food, cool building. Staff were very attentive the service was great. For being in downtown Nashville, prices seemed reasonable. I’d definitely go back.
Just about everything we ate was great! Our only critique is the fries are not good at all. Server was very kind. Host staff super friendly.
We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch at Merchant's. The ambiance was excellent, service impeccable and craft cocktails, duck-fat tater tots and Johnny Cash's Chili the perfect meal for a cold, rainy day. We made a reservation but wanted to eat a bit earlier. Staff accommodated us well with a beautiful high top table in the bar area right next to the window. Thank you for making our experience that much sweeter with that special exception.
Perfect view of Broadway -- excellent service - great looking room
Very friendly staff, food good
Wish the hadn’t brought app, salad and entree all at once
Our server and manager went out of their way to accommodate our celiac daughters with gluten free meals. They even made fresh popcorn to ensure no cross contact. The tater tots and sweet potato fries made in a dedicated fryer and were heavenly!!!
Great experience. Highly recommend.
Love, love , love the sweet potato fries! Service was fast and friendly.
Grabbed lunch at Merchants with some colleagues. The food was good, the service was good. No complaints!
Charles shines out shoes while we ate. Every one was very helpful. Cute and fun!
This place was awesome. I would recommend it to all. They made our anniversary very special. Thank you and I hope you see you all soon.
Loved everything about Merchants! Amazing comfort food with elevated style. The duck fat tator tots were so good. Order one of their specialty cocktails, they are worth it! Loved this place and can’t wait to come back on our next visit to Nashville.
