Made a reservation and planned a while date night around it only to find out they were closed.

When we arrived for our reservation the restaurant was closed. I was able to make the reservation early Friday am, but apparently they closed early and did not notify me😡🤯

Showed up for the reservation and the place was closed. No notice given.

The food and atmosphere were great!

Sat us too close to other tables with COVID. There was plenty of space in the restaurant to space groups out.

Wonderful experience overall! We had one hiccup with someone's food coming out much later than everyone else's, but they were very apologetic and corrected it ASAP. The staff was very nice and professional. The food and drinks were amazing - they have a great menu! Already can't wait to go back next time we're in the area!

When I made the reservation I specifically stated in the notes that someone in our party was vegan. However, when we got there and I told our waiter he said it was a fixed menu and no substitutions. Out of all the courses my daughter could only eat the salad with no dressing. For the amount of money we paid, vegan options should have been provided even if they were set substitutions. I felt horrible eating in front of her all night....again I put in the notes we had a vegan when I made the reservation so I was very disappointed.

We celebrated our daughter’s 17 birthday and they made it special. Server, Angie, and the rest of the team were attentive and thoughtful. Even served the cake we brought at the perfect time!! ❤️❤️

Great atmosphere and food was very good. Cocktail menu is very unique. Very pleasant surprise for weeknight dining. Will definitely recommend!

It was ok. They forgot part of order and we also requested no bacon and got bacon on every dish. Weird experience, won’t be back.

Overpriced bad food . This is very low grade poorly cooked food . If they charged 1/3 the price it would have been except-able. Ambiance cool and would be a fine place for a drink

Food was great and wine bottles were half off that day. We had a delicious Merlot.
I had a Kobe beef burger (18$) which was good but I expected it to be better. The side of sweet potato fries was delicious but comes at an exaggerate 8$.

The food wasn’t as good as expected. The coconut shrimps were more like popcorn shrimps. Small and no tails and they completely left out the coconut part of it. The French fries that came with the cod tasted like they had been previously frozen. Not fresh at all. When I left the restaurant, the Maitre D. asked about our experience and I told him about the shrimps and he admitted that they had to make some adjustments due to Covid and food price. I was speechless he actually admired to it even though I appreciated his honesty. Cool decor but food was disappointing.

The food is a 5 star but alas...the service is spotty at best. It's such a tragedy for a great restaurant to be minimized because of the servers. Surely they can do better.

Great food and service. The restaurant design and decor provide an enjoyable dining atmosphere. Highly recommend the Merchant Burger and Bloody Mary.

We are very disappointed that social distancing protocols were not adhered to. We sat in a small room to the right of the hostess stand. There are 4 tables in that room. Our table and one other were initially occupied. Then a third party was sat at a third with another person less than 6 feet from us. We quickly finished dinner, paid our check, and left. The blatant disregard for social distancing protocols is concerning.

Beautiful restaurant, food could’ve used a bit more seasoning but it was good. We had a great waiter also. We’ll be back.

First time to Merchant House! What a pleasant surprise. The atmosphere is cozy, charming and clean. Service, drinks and food was fantastic. We will be back!

The four tops are incredibly too small for 4 people. I asked to move to a bigger table and then once we moved, our service was terrible. I could not understand our waiter and when I asked about a cocktail he could not answer my questions. I thought there would be Christmas decor out since it's December and they still had Fall decor out... Just disappointed overall.

This is actually my 2nd time here, but has kept the same ambiance. A cozy place, not too busy so convos with friends are easy to hear. The music was perfect as well. Food was great, of course! Can't go wrong with a mimosa carafe(s).

Miga's were good, but greasier than usual.

The carafe was a bad pour compared to other tables.

One order at the table was incorrect but quickly corrected.

I didn't feel rushed, but food was ready within 5 minutes.

I might try it for dinner but brunch was a bust.

Visited for the Thanksgiving pre fixe menu, and it definitely didn’t disappoint. Merchant House is definitely a gem in Oak Lawn.

Great place and unique decor. Great menu. Everyone’s got to try this place because it’s excellent. Highly recommend brunch.

LOVED Merchant house. The atmosphere is so unique and cozy. It was quiet when we came around 2pm for lunch. Loved the chicken and waffles. Service was also friendly and helpful!

Food + Drinks are perfect - we went on a Sunday for brunch. They had just about everything you could ask for. Our waiter was super attentive and made sure we were taken care of. The music was very upbeat, the atmosphere was on par for what I would expect. My *only* complaint, was that while we were waiting to throw in our order, another member of the waitstaff came over and hit on my friend, asked for her number. We thought it was cute and endearing at first. It was playful flirting, harmless. Until the end of our meal when he came back a fourth time to say that he had zero "good intentions to be completely honest." And that's when we felt uncomfortable. It's one thing to be honest, it's another to leave me with that impression of a restaurant. I'll be back but, with some hesitation.
