Among other things we ordered a "Mamacita" cocktail on the basis of a strong recommendation we read online. But didn't like it, because we didn't realize that we didn't like mezcal, which adds a pretty smoky flavor. The waitress offered to bring something else kindly, but we stuck with it because we ordered. We also tried the Jameson Smash, which was amazingly refreshing.
This is a great spot. So great to get out finally. It looks like Wilmington's Market street got hit pretty hard by Covid. I'm glad to be able to get out for a tasty meal. This corner restaurant is great: large windows, great light. Feels like an old school, Manhattan bar. The staff were great. The food was excellent and savory. Good mix of ideas and new twists on old standards (the burger was excellent, as were the korean chicken buns). Good wine selection.
Our waiter was great. We had a party of 10 and we only had an hour before a music show across the street. He did a terrific job of taking our orders & getting the food out right away. We loved the cheese board & garlic shrimp.
Very good and great spot that is awesome in Downtown Wilmington!! 😊👍🏻
Small but great menu! We ordered several small plate dishes and they were all delicious!
Small, but the staff was very friendly; food was delicious, and the drinks were very good.
Very nice places for dinner. Nice view and lots of room.
Great time!! Would definitely go back. The drinks were strong and delicious.
If you want to have a nice romantic yet casual dinner please give them a try. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and I plan on returning very very soon. Good food, good drinks, great ambience.
Food & Drinks were good as always. Waitstaff are always so nice and friendly.
Merchant Bar is one of my favorite spots, great food and drinks and the staff is excellent:)
Great service, food was good, and the bar/environment is exceptional!
In my opinion one of if not the best restaurant on Market Street, so glad they reopened. Arguably one of the best burger and margarita around.
My son and I met for dinner to try this place. I liked the atmosphere and they had Covid capacity so the noise was low and we could talk. We sat at a high top by the windows, he got the carne asada Tacos and I got the shrimp tacos. They were both delicious. We also got the chips w guacamole and salsa which was a hella small plate but it was sooooo good and I would get it again. The best was my original cocktail Fall off the Wagon bourbon. Wow! Heaven. We were going to get the fried ricotta w apricot glaze for desert but my son had someplace to be and he wants to go back for his birthday dinner next month so he can get some cocktails! We will be getting that desert then too!
Pleasantly surprised at the excellent quality of food and cocktails. Service was great too .
Very interesting menu and delicious foods. The Blue Sky cocktail was also delicious, pineapple infused vodka, vanilla, fresh lemon juice and blueberries.
Great food, great service, fun atmosphere! A perfect pre-show dinner within walking distance to The Grand.
The food and specialty cocktails were excellent. A little pricey, but so is everything in downtown Wilmington. We were there on a Friday night around 6pm so it was very busy. Our reservation for 2 was at the bar, which surprised us not being at a table. This is a very busy, small establishment. We were there mostly to try it out, close proximity to The Grand before a show and part of the Grand pre-show discount program. Truthfully, we'd never have heard of it save the discount program. If we were to go agan, it'd have to be a weeknight or slower time.
We had a great night at Merchant Bar! We sat at the bar and had great service! Our drinks were delicious! We got a bunch of small plates and tacos and our food came out fast and was so delicious! They have a chicken tortilla soup which was everything you’d want on a cold night! Tacos and guacamole were fabulous, i’d say some of the best in town! Definitely will be returning!
Great tacos! Great service! So happy we chose this place to eat. Let us stay at table for several hours.
I love the Merchant Bar! Great ambiance - friendly bartenders - delicious food!
My family and I went here for NYE dinner. The service was attentive, the cocktails were unique and tasty and the food was delicious. We especially liked the fries w the curry ketchup, the tuna carpaccio, the burger, crab pad Thai, and the duck moo shoo. We will be back!
The bar was very loud. They did not have unsweetened tea, which I like. Drink prices were high- $12 for a Moscow mule.
Our food came out very slow. Other tables around us that were seated after us were served first.i ordered shrimp tacos but got pork, I guess it was too loud for the waitress to hear my order correctly. I kept them because it had taken so long. They were very good.
Great food, decor, and our servers were amazing! Will definitely return soon. Thanks for a great experience!
Went on a Tuesday night for tocos and apps everything was great !! Drinks were great food was great !!! Pickled beat salad was so delicious and the guacamole was so tasty !!
Had a lovely time there on a Friday night with a friend. Definitely a great happy hour spot, and would recommend sitting at the bar. We opted for a table and full dinner the day after Fourth of July, and the services was a little slow. Food is a little pricey, but good. The cocktail menu is amazing, with a good wine selection.
Had a lovely dinner. My husband and I shared the olives and hummus plate. He then had the Dan Dan Noodles, which were excellent.
My mussels were okay, have never ordered mussels that came without the shell. Was a bit weird. The taste was good but would have preferred mussels with the shell.
Fantastic service, cocktails and food. Love the huge bar and common seating areas. Great setting and very relaxed vibe!
Expected excellent and was not disappointed. The menu is a little limited but the execution was fabulous. The joint was jumping which slowed the service a bit, but not too much. The price was a great value. Definitely our Market Street favorite go to.
What a fun and delicious spot! Had a reservation before Opera Delaware performance. Such great food and a very cool variety.
Fabulous food and atmosphere. First waitress was very friendly and good. Second one not as much.
Food is tasty, sat in the front window and it is nice to be part of the bar's vibrancy, and also watching the world go by.
I'd recommend Merchant Bar to a friend who likes loud, lively taverns with good food and drink. Service was very friendly and most generous with a couple of wine samples, one of which wasn't requested but appeared following a chat about the first one. I had a fine Old Fashioned. The dry rub chicken wings were hot (temp) and tasty, served with a bleu cheese dipping sauce. My wife was in the mood for a burger and said the classic was delicious. I had the Dan Dan Noodles. Rich, but tasty. Could have used a tad more pork. Our server did a great job despite apparently being the only person waiting tables. My only caveat is the noise. It may have been that we came early and caught an after-work crowd, but the room really magnifies the sound. We had to raise our voices a good bit to hear each other - and we were by the front window. Will probably leave this one for the younger crowd and return to co-owned La Fia, across the street, for our dinners in this part of town.
Four mature women for small plates and drinks before Playhouse show. Food was very delicious.Although one person had a burger, the remaining shared four small plates. All were great!! The location and interior are perfect for a fun night out. But the noise l level is not for those who have even the slightest hearing issue! Very loud!!
The food was great but the server was extremely slow. Waited forever for drinks.
Excellent food, outstanding service and a great place to pregame before a concert at The Queen.
Excellent meal, had the ahi tuna poke with chips, great flavor, and the smoked duck "moo shu," nontraditional but delicious and filling. Dessert was less impressive: the tiramisu ladyfingers still had crunch to them; the semifreddo (vanilla with lemon curd) was a great flavor, but frozen hard rather than "half-frozen."
greg our bartender was great, awesome food. love look
this is the place to go with a group as everyone can order a couple tapas and everyone can share. Great creative drinks, cool decor and an attentive staff. Only negative is the parking but there is a lot right there and its 5.00 for unlimited parking.
