Jean-Georges brings a chic vibe to Soho at Mercer Kitchen, with a bright, airy café upstairs and a spacious restaurant on the lower level. The ambiance of the restaurant is timelessly stylish, and sexy, with exposed brick walls. The American Provencal menu features fresh and seasonal ingredients.View Private Dining Details
Trendy , Good for young people .. too loud
Good location nice decoration
This is second time here ,and I made a reservation for dinner, just in case it's packed. And when we go there 20 earlier, the place was quite empty. The host told us wait at the bar,and seat us when it's ready. It's really ridiculous to me when the place is empty, and you tell the customers to wait. And the bar was full. We have to stand there to order and wait our drinks. Five mins later when we got the drinks. They came to seat us. Is that the new way to make ppl buy alcohol? Today service was ok,food was all right. The most unbelievable thing was that we both left a lot of food on our plates,so we have to take left over to go,and they packed 2 boxes SIDE way inside the bag,OMG, I never see any places do that. Quiet disappointed this time ,last time was way more satisfied in so many different ways.
Restaurant is beautiful and the food is very good!
Great dinner! Friendly staff and cool vibe restaurant. Would definitely go back.
Old favorite of ours with Executive Chef Jean George Vongarichten never disappointing. The food and service are outstanding and the atmosphere quaint in the basement level of the Mercer Hotel in SOHO with the old street grates and their glass inserts twinkling above the tables ... the Waabi Pizza is delish and the roasted chicken terrific.
Overall good experience, however, I was disappointed that our waiter gave us the check without having asked for it, and before we even started our dessert. We were at the table for 1.5 hours and were not told of a time limit, also it was gone 10:00pm and the restaurant was not at full capacity. Food was average.
Mercer Kitchen was previously one of our favorite "go to" places for brunch or dinner. After our most recent dinner with friends, we will not return. While the food is reliably good and varied, the service is a chaotic mess. There are simply too many hands involved in the meal. Our Open Table reservation was honored on time, but not the type of seating we had requested. (This was not a problem at Mercer Kitchen in the past.) Multiple hostesses, a waiter, four or five different servers or busboys-- not sure what everyone's role was. The wrong drinks were served to the wrong person and we had the same problem with food orders because the person taking the order is not involved in getting it to the table. When the food came, three different people delivered four dishes. Requests for clean napkins, silverware, etc. took forever to be fulfilled because the person we asked was never the one who returned with the item. There were about six different people dealing with our table, but it did not result in six times good service. One main course was completely incorrect and had to be recooked from scratch. Only the original waiter knew a mistake was made, so the person bringing the order did not understand what was wrong. One of the servers dropped a dessert on the floor next to our table, ruining our friend's expensive shoes-- barely an apology let alone any accommodation. Had to get a manager to make sure the sticky mess on the floor was cleaned up. I find that restaurants relying on tag team hand-offs from waiter to server often miss the mark unless the waiter or a captain takes ownership of the details. We have no problem paying a premium for good food and good service. But we observed that Mercer Kitchen is now doing more turnover of tables with many guests just having burgers and dessert. In NYC, it's not only location: it's service, service, service!
Very disappointing experience. Service was non-existent, we saw our waiter twice in total during the meal and I had to get up to request napkins, ketchup and the correct check.
In addition our starter was on the table no more than 4
Minutes after we ordered. While it’s a popular dish, that should never happen.
I have been to Mercer kitchen several times and today was by far one of the worst experiences I have ever had. Not only was one dish 20 minutes later than the other 7 dishes but there were far worst issues going on.
Bugs I repeat. Bugs were in the bread and crawling out. The managers excuse for this was that bread was put out in the open for an ambience and that they can’t control what gets into the bread. My question is why would they serve bread that could have random articles of debris or worse BUGS.
I will not be back
Great vibe, service was okay
Great meal! Wonderful service. Try the cucumber martini! It’s the best!
Expected more from Jean Georges. I was devastated when Spice Market closed. Was hoping this place would be similarly pleasantly surprising. It was not. No glaring flaws but nothing special.
Loved the place on our last visit very disappointed this time won’t be back.
Food was pricey but good, service was poor, cool to the point of frosty. I can accept the lack of welcome/how are you etc etc but we were left for ages with no one attending to us we had to ask for silverware, for dirty plates to be removed and for drinks. We were given a bill before our dessert order was taken. For the prices charged I expect MUCH better.
Mercer Kitchen never disappoints. Food is fantastic. The tuna spring roll was really delicious. Great vibe. Service was good.
Amazing! I’ve been here a few times and every time is amazing
Food came out extremely fast. We ordered appetizers and held putting our entrees in (glad we did because the burrata and the watermelon appetizers were filling ) and when we did order them they came out in less than 10 minutes, appetizers were even faster. All of the food was delicious! In addition to the apps we had the seabass and scallops, everything was sooo good!
We stopped by after visiting the NY Tenement Museum. The food was amazing. My dad said the meatballs he had were the best he’s ever eaten. The restaurant was a buzz with people of all ages. The atmosphere was cool and clean. Food was great and the service was fast and fantastic.
The food was good and the service too but the restaurant doesn’t have AC everywhere and we where at that spot . This kind of ruined the experience with more than 100 F !
Terrible terrible service. Had to ask everything 3 times. Seat had food all over it when I sat down
I have been here a few times before and my experience this time was horrible. The air conditioning was down, which sitting downstairs in 97 degree weather outside was very hot. We decided to stay regardless. The service was subpar, we waited a long time for our order to be taken. Then, our food took over an HOUR to come out. We sat and waited a good 20 minutes for a water refill which came with no ice so we had to wait for ice as well. Our waiter was switched 3x and neither of them seemed to know what was going on or be attentive. The only thing that didn’t go wrong was the food, but at the end of the night we just couldn’t wait to get out of there.
It was 90 degrees on the day I went to dinner and the restaurant’s air conditioning was broken. Kind of ruined any ambience
It was great!
Went for breakfast
Food very ordinary
Will not return or recommend
Everyone makes you feel at home here
The seafood platter contained rancid clams and oysters. When we contacted the waitress, she just apologized but did not bring fresh items and charged full. Hence her tip suffered.
What a great restaurant! We were seated promptly, the ambiance is amazing (it's not too loud, and I didn't have to shout to hear my husband), and the food was spectacular! I heartily recommend the crab/pea salad as a starter, and the roasted lobster was divine. I was a little underwhelmed by the dessert, but it was probably due to the rest of the courses being impeccable. Will dine here again.
Never disappoints. Delicious meal. Good service. Lively room.
Boring, bland, overpriced food. Good service. Terrible value, avoid if possible
The waiter was inattentive, forgot to bring small plates appetizer sharing and forgot to bring me a glass of wine I had ordered.
we had a lovely time at Mercer Kitchen. the food was fantastic, the only thing missing was that the service was pretty poor. Our waiter rushed us at the beginning to order and once we had put in appetizers, he had completely forgotten about us. We ended up ordering our dinner about an hour after our appetizers and had to repeatedly ask for his attention for drinks. Once we showed interest in ordering a bottle of wine, he didn't allow space for us to try a wine and when my friend asked if I had wanted to taste it, he made a comment saying, "well its not corked" which we thought was a little brash and did not allow space for us to tell him we did not enjoy it. Great food and excellent ambiance but the service was definitely lacking.
Food was very good, as always, but service was disjointed. Noise level also makes conversation extremely difficult. Still, a great place for lunch when shopping in SoHo.
Belated Father’s Day
Had dinner to celebrate a birthday and had a great experience. The food was delicious and filling. Special thanks to the staff for wishing a happy birthday and the birthday dessert.
I always enjoy this place. Drinks are refreshing and atmosphere is 100%
Waiter was great. Besides that everything else was a fail. No air conditioning; 4 entrees were sold out as well as several appetizers; they were even out of certain whiskeys. The lobster entree was horrible. The worst lobster I have ever eaten. Will definitely NOT be back.
Barack truffle pizza was amazing, scallops yummy and pork chops real good!
WOW on the wasabi pizza... the Salmon sounds incredible in the menu, then you get quite an ordinary plate... back to WOW in dessert
