Jean-Georges brings a chic vibe to Soho at Mercer Kitchen, with a bright, airy café upstairs and a spacious restaurant on the lower level. The ambiance of the restaurant is timelessly stylish, and sexy, with exposed brick walls. The American Provencal menu features fresh and seasonal ingredients.View Private Dining Details
Great place for a little more than casual date. Great food and atmosphere. Highly recommend. More like a 2nd or 3rd date type of place.
Always a pleasure
Nice environment, good feel. Food disappointing - expensive and not special. Omelette is presented very plainly, small, very mundane. Same for sandwiches. Service is fine but not outstanding - a bit of an attitude. Given today's competition, excellent food choices available, hard to recommend. Perhaps it's worth another visit but not sure...
Slow service and average food. Cool seating area.
Good food, great ambiance, highly attentive staff
Food and service was excellent, but not too happy with the table (felt like we were sitting in the hallway - which we were).
Food was great but there was an issue with the computer system and our order never reached the kitchen. We waited over 75 minutes for our soup and egg dish to arrive and our server was nowhere to be found.
Overall, I was disappointed. The food was very good, but the service was not up to what I would have expected from this restaurant, given it's provenance and pricing. There were a number of smaller service things I can forgive, but what I was most troubled by (and embarrassed, as the host of a business dinner) was when our entrees came out before the appetizer (which apparently our server had forgotten to put in the order for). We volunteered to eat the entrees rather than send them back. And then we ate the appetizer (a different one, actually) after the main course. The server was not overly apologetic, and there was no "touch" from a manager or other accommodation for what was clearly their error. And when I mentioned it to the manager at the desk as we we were leaving, the response was simply "I'm sorry. I hope you'll be back." Not likely, is what I told him.
Food is always excellent. Service was VERY slow which was acknowledged by the manager who comped part of our meal.
Chose this place because of ambiance and the fact that it wasn’t supposed to be a kid-friendly place. Was seated next to TWO families, one of which was very loud and disruptive.
Service was pretty good. Felt a little rushed at the end to pay and get out, but ignored it and finished enjoying our drinks and chatting.
Great menu, very good quality all dishes. Good bar scene.
Based on the bad food and poor service I received on 4/14/2018, I would not recommend this restaurant and have contacted restaurant management regarding the experience.
Wonderful ambiance and great food!! The meat and cheese board and pizzas were the best!!
Great. Top notch service and food.
Every time we viseted NY we go to Mercer K, but this time we were sitting on a hight table next to the kitchen, no ventilation and as the night continius was becoming and oven. the food was very mediocre and expensive, our waitress was so nice that we dont want tto complein much but all our next seat people move out
3 of us dined. I liked her meal, one said his meal was ok and all disliked the third meal. Overdone veal Milanese. Service was unattentive with an attitude
The restaurant was slow downstairs but I waited 45 minutes to get my entree salad. It was the only thing I ordered. When it arrived, it was obvious the salad had been sitting for quite awhile. The grilled shrimp was cold, the salad was wilted from sitting in dressing too long, the salad dressing itself was all acid and not enough balance, the shaved Parmesan cheese had congealed and limp.
We asked the waiter to check on the food several times. Probably not his fault but the food was all mediocre.
Too bad as the atmosphere was cozy and could have been pretty nice.
Won’t ever come back.
We were seated in the hotel lobby because the whole restaurant had been booked out by Dolce and Gabbana - it would have been nice to know this before arriving in case we would have preferred to make alternative arrangements. Food was nice and really enjoyed the cocktails. Portions quite small for the price but this is typical of the area. Service excellent
Very tasty! Also given cake as a birthday present! Waiter was attentive but not annoyingly so.
A perennial. Always good. Cozy subterranean Soho haunt. Service (now) good. Food very good. My only request is that the (tiny) $20 pour of Rioja be served in a glass other than the cheapo Costco 99-cent wine glasses, that seem extremely out of place.
Good for lunch or dinner. Not my first nor last time here. Service can be slow of its busy.
We were seated to the right of the downstairs staircase. They placed a six top diagonal to us which must always be a four top. This forced my friend to move her chair throughout the meal in order for the wait staff to serve the corner table and the six top. It was awful. My friend had to move her chair at least ten times throughout the meal. Zero apologies from the various wait staff who were bothering her. When I spoke to the gentleman at the maitre d desk at the end of the meal, he could not have been more dismissive. I guess they are too important and popular to care. We are locals and will not be coming back anymore.
Food was amazing
Had a reservation and called because I was running late due to traffic to let them
Arrived 20 minutes late and was seated in a tiny dark table across from the coat check under the stairs
Essentially punishment for arriving late even though I let them know.
Complained and was moved to the big communal table loud and service is just ok there - lots of people going back and forth .'pushy to get us ordered but really slow bringing out deserts but other food flying out as if to get us off the table quickly !
Despite this good food
Love the food! Had a small table for a party of three, but other than that, no complaints.
The restaurant looks very nice on the inside and outside. The roasted chicken was very delicious. But by god, the service was awful. To have to basically beg for the menu is crazy! And then waiting on someone to fill up our water for twenty minutes. Given that there were at least 3 other waiters that walked by our table and 7 bar backs, there should be no excuse to have to wait any longer than 5 minutes for water. Both the host and waiter were extremely rude and condescending. The food was good but I don't think I can come back again solely based off the service... what a shame.
Great food and wine!
Had to wait over an hour for a table.
Had a reservation, and we were still put in the middle of a high traffic area where guests leaned over or hit our table while walking by or waiting for their own table. Waiter apologized many times, as it was awkward for him too. I would have expected a better table with a reservation and not dropped in the worst area right next to the high traffic bar area.
This restaurant aims to be chic, but falls short on every level. Service was a notch above a fast food restaurant. My wine was served in a cheap Target glass that was inappropriate to any wine. I understand that they were catering to a number of families with small children, but that shouldn't have taken away from the service I received. The final straw was the hair in my salad. The waiter never asked me why I didn't eat it or if I liked it. He just didn't care. I couldn't get out of there quickly enough.
Disappointing. Atmosphere was nice and dining room was attractive, but food was under-seasoned. I ordered the veal Milanese and was underwhelmed. There was no taste. Seating was uncomfortable and noise level made it hard to talk. Overall it wasn’t horrible, but if I had to choose, I would spend my money elsewhere.
We very happy to see that they now have a vegetarian menu.
We went for an early lunch with a wedding party. We were seated a nice table, the staff were attentive and the food was delicious.
Muy bueno como siempre
Spring break trip with the family...wonderful chefs table location. Phenomenal whisky fizz, burger to rival the best anywhere.
Overpriced and food way too salty
After many years of wonderful meals here, our Easter lunch was disappointing. The sweet pea soup was far below the standards of the restaurant, the fennel salad was grossly overdressed and sloppy, and the plating of all the dishes was subpar. When notified of the food problems, the response from waitstaff was basically a nonchalant shrug. Hopefully, this was just a bad day and not a continuing trend.
After waiting 40 minutes for a table, the hostess then walked me over to a makeshift table basically in front of the bathroom. Will never recommend or return
