Located at the Mercer Hotel, Mercer Kitchen brings a chic, sophisticated vibe to the heart of SoHo. When Mercer Kitchen opened in 1998, it immediately became a destination for New Yorkers, celebrities, and tourists. Situated in the basement of a historic building constructed in the 1800s, the… restaurant was designed by Christian Liaigre as a combination of industrial and classic modernism. Chef Jean-Georges’ American menu features market-driven, seasonal ingredients prepared in a simple yet elegant style, with favorites like the Tuna Spring Roll, Steamed Shrimp Salad, wood-fired pizzas, and classic Warm Valrhona Chocolate Cake. There is an open kitchen, where guests can sit back and watch the show.

Very mediocre food. Not nearly as good as expected...

Unfortunately I didn't liked the menu from Valentine's day dinner. I was very disappointed.

Arif (sorry if I misspelled it). He was great and the sweetest. The food was great as always and the hospitality was unmatched.

We will visit again.

The meal was truly perfection. Amazing flavor profiles and portions were beautifully presented . They had some wonderful sake too. I found the hostess to be a bit sour, but not sour enough to taint the truly wonderful meal.

We came here for my birthday, expecting something special. I knew the Mercer Hotel and wanted to bring the family somewhere for a memorable meal. On arriving, the front of house waitress was clearly inexperienced and we were not greeted in a friendly way. Once seated, it took while to catch the waiters eye to serve us some drinks. The table next to us were being dripped on from water coming through the roof. I ordered a Bellini, it came back flat. When I mentioned it to the waiter he became quite defensive and told me it was because of the fruit that was added. He did eventually suggest replacing it, but it was not in a friendly manner. There seemed to be alot of inexperienced waiters who were not used to giving good service. The food was okay - truffle pizza was delicious. The burger was okay, but not outstanding. Butterscotch pudding was so sweet and sickly, we couldn't eat it. I felt disappointed that the meal didn't live up to expectations, and was expensive too.

Atmosphere was energetic and fun. Nice ambience and comfortable seating. Wait service was not knowledgeable about dishes and food was slow to come out. Quality of food was very good. Overall enjoyable.

Service was very poor. Lack of attentiveness, we had to ask several times for the same items. Water was not refreshed regularly and server didn't stop at table very often to check in. Extremely disappointed.

We received a warm, friendly welcome and were seated immediately. We opted for the downstairs level with exposed brick walls and candle light - has a very hip yet intimate vibe.
The service was good -attentive and professional without being overly fussy.
The menu was great - a wide variety of choices with very interesting food combinations. I had the quinoa salad with avocado to start and the salmon as my entree. Both are served with Brussel Sprouts, which I don't like, and the chef graciously either eliminated them or replaced them with a different vegetable. We shared the warm chocolate cake for dessert, and it was out of this world!
The wine list wasn't that large, yet offered many good selections at fairly reasonable prices. It's refreshing at an upscale NYC restaurant to find many nice wines for less than $100 per bottle. Of course there are also several higher priced wines if you want to splurge!
We had a wonderful dinner and will definitely be back!

We had a large group on a Saturday night so I was very thankful that Mercer Kitchen could accommodate us. I expected a bit more from the food. Everything was edible of course, but just a bit boring.

Pretty place, quality food. I felt rushed, although the rest was not full. Wait staff was eagerly trying to turn our table...although they had plenty of empty tables. They didn't even ask if we wanted cocktails or wine. Went right to dinner order. Glad I tried it during rest week, I won't rush to go back.

The service was really nice and foods are also good. But not that special.

The best part of Mercer Kitchen are the appetizers. In partciular, their pizzas. They are a must-try. I got the hamburger on my visit as the entree, but did not find it special. The desserts were also excellent.
