The seever got my order wrong and forgot a couple drinks. She didn’t check on the table and it was quite a disappointing evening.
I have been to Mercer Kitchen many times. I take business associates from out of town there because they always love the restaurant and it is an easy environment to have a conversation without feeling like you are sitting right on top of the other guests at the restaurant.
We did not find it too exciting. Food was good but not too exciting. Service was mediocre. Sorry
Food was amazing, as was the service. We have eaten there many times and we are never disappointed!
Excellent cocktails as well. I had the cucumber mint martini. Perfection!
Felt awful for the server as was the only one serving the upstairs. Food came out cold; took 20 minutes to redo one of our breakfasts as came out wrong. For the price, you expect more.
My daughter and I had breakfast here with a reservation. Not many diners there at that time, but we had to sit right next to a couple since we were only a two and couldn’t sit at a larger table. We were seated upstairs and were told the downstairs was closed. But our main issue was with portion sizes. I ordered the French toast with seasonal fruit and my daughter had the avocado toast. My French toast came and was one slice of bread. I know this is nyc but come on, one slice of bread and a couple of poorly sliced apples. My daughter’s also was one slice of toast but cut in two with a few tomatoes on the side. While the food tasted good there just wasn’t enough to warrant the price. And after our food arrived I knew why the woman sitting next to us had ordered two entrees while dining alone. The staff also were very snooty. Save your money and go somewhere better. There are so many better choices.
Not worth the $26 for the sub par small burger and cold fries.
Amazing best food in nyc
Went here for lunch. Took a little while for bread and order to come but food did not disappoint. Chicken coconut soup had a lovely Thai flavor lentil soup was rich and hardy and there was plenty of truffle to go around on the truffle pizza. Split a burger and even though I’m not that much of a burger fan it was well done. Nice experience
Ambiance is really beautiful. Service is mediocre for multiple reasons. Food was served warm. We prefer hot food. Quality and portions were good size and we were satisfied. It’s a good spot for an every day experience prior to a day of SOHO Shopping!
Waitstaff could deliver more consistent information with regards to answering restaurant relative details I.e., food wait time, seating times for upstairs/ downstairs/ reservations/ food delivery and refills on coffee and water.
Totally last minute decision to find food after a nearby art exhibit. So happy we landed here! Chilly, raw weather outside amplified the cozy vibe inside. Enough noise and people to create a happy buzz but quiet enough to enjoy conversation at your own table. Lentil soup and Thai-inspired chicken coconut soup were a delicious antidote to the chilly evening. Salad with quinoa rounded out our light dinner. Looking forward to returning again to try out some of the other great looking dishes on the menu.
Very noisy, cold wind from the front door.
Had to request multiple times for water which arrived after 10 minutes.
No cutlery with the main dish and so on
The service was quite disappointing. My daughters meal was completely forgotten , when it did finally arrive after flagging down a server, we were almost done with our meal. The food was just average at best.
We found a hair in our food, the Tabasco sauce lid was broken and spilled all over when we tried to use, their was no pepper in the shaker, they made a calculation mistake on our bill.
Thanks to the staff for giving us a corner table for my husband's birthday as we had more space than many of the diners around us. The food was wonderful, and the service was excellent. That said, the restaurant was VERY dark, and there were no candles available for our table due to a large party in the back. The ladies room was also A MESS. A LITERAL mess. Which is something that always makes me question the sanitation of the kitchen and the restaurant in general. For the prices charged, patrons should be able to have facilities that, at the very least, are clean and have paper available.
Lots of potential especially being a JG restaurant, but the food and service were honestly not what I would have expected. Great space, good drinks, but food and service not up to standard.
I was very disappointed in my experience here this last visit. The server at the table was not great. A friend didn’t get part of her order, even after asking, we ordered bubbles and asked twice for it to be chilled at the table to deaf ears, we had to flag staff down to ask for other items, including our bill several times. The food was ok, nothing great and nothing that would justify the price. We all left very disappointed.
Delicious food! Great cocktails! Lively scene fun restaurant vibe! Near shops. Staff was attentive and the dining experience was top notch!
The host was nice enough to wait for the entire party to arrive then be seated. Unfortunately Restaurants as such seated a table of 5 on a table of 4. This was quite uncomfortable. Then when ordering time came around we would often lose our server and go looking for him to place an order. At least the food was okay. A tale of everyone was trying to fulfill a part they were not cut out for there was an individual from the host staff would come to our table from time to time and pour flat water into the sparkling water glasses. Then lastly while awaiting the dessert menu the same individual came and offer us a dessert menu that turned out to be the kids dessert menu. When we finally found our server we asked about the menu and he gave us the proper dessert menu. All in all, staffing and hosting made the experience unpleasant. The staffing needs to be a bit more clinical and attentive.
Big jean George’s fan, but a bunch of sad faced waiters, and too many unattended dirty tables ... not a place where u feel particularly welcome.
A NYC favorite. Food is fantastic.
Good food good cocktails, good location . I surely will come back .
Came here to celebrate our anniversary. We ordered the seafood platter which was lovely although I wish they had an even number of things so that it’s better to share. We also ordered the calamari and that was really disappointing. It arrived cold so we let the server know that it wasn’t good. They brought it back a 2nd time and it was half cold half hot. We sent it back again and asked for it to be removed from our bill. The manager came by afterwards to apologize and brought us a fresh batch of calamari on the house which was really nice and very much appreciated. Even though the 3rd attempt was clearly freshly made, it wasn’t memorable- especially for $17. After that experience, we decided to leave and not stick around for mains.
Food... wasn’t good. It was dark and the seating was uncomfortable
Awesome food, beautiful interior and John the bartender upstairs was the best! Definitely a spot to go back to.
Nice place with very god cocktails, but the wait is huge... No special attentions for my husband Birthday, considering the wait and the staff coming many times to apologise one would thing it could be normal to do so.
The food is good, but not exceptionnel
The service wasn't as good as it was in the past and the drinks were weak.
Wonderful food and service
Our experience was fine but not great. The service team interaction at our table was not strong - while not unusual to have separate waitstaff and servers, the servers delivered appetizers and entrees like we were in a diner and did not even try to give each person the right plate - just put them down and left for us to straighten out. The waitstaff was not well versed on the menu and basically repeated the descriptions. The appetizers and entrees were fine but there was nothing that unique distinguishing them. We are a dessert family and generally order but decided to walk and explore an Italian bakery instead. The cost / experience were a bit out of balance at $75/pp before tip - and including only 1 drink - even for NY.
Overall a nice experience and fun meal for a group. Prices are high, but somewhat expected since a hotel restaurant. I had a Salmon dish, and a lot of people in my group got the MercBurger - all were good.
Warm shrimp salad should be on everyone’s bucket list and the vegan menu delighted my wife, as did it’s offerings. Now just bring back the passion fruit soufflé and all will be perfect.
Very mediocre food
I have lived in New York for over 10 years and have never had such terrible service. We arrived and the hostess was rude immediately. Our drink order wasn’t taken until a half hour after we were seated. When our food finally came out it was raw..(burger, Brussels sprouts) and pasta was overcooked. We were really looking forward to finally coming here and it turned out to be the worst service we ever experienced. I urge you to spend your money elsewhere.
We had to wait more than 20 minutes to be seated after the time of our reserve. Food was good but the portions were smaller from what we expect for brunch in NYC. Service was slow and not friendly.
First visit and very disappointed. Poor spotty service. Waiter pulled in too many directions. Asked for quiet table and placed right next to noisy bar. Small hamburger tasted good, but wow! What a price! Some of the other entrees were also skimpy. Will not go back and can't recommend to anyone.
I am basing my rating on a very busy Saturday shopping day in Soho. Restaurant was very crowded and servers seemed very overwhelmed.
The Service was horrible, wait person was rude, and it seemed that they were more interested in serving patrons of the hotel than walk ins. Super slow service as well.
Service was really poor. The waitress didn’t even try to engage with us or the experience of eating at a jean georges restaurant. Felt like fast food service trying to get us in and out of the place. Our expectations for a dining experience at JG was a let down.
