Great food. Nice place.
Shrimp salad is amazing!!
The waitress was less than interested in taking care of us but she did check in regularly.
Mercer Kitchen is a great spot to enjoy a meal before or after a movie at The Angelika or on your way to an event. Also a great place to rest after intense shopping. The food and service are top notch, I love their incredibly creamy mashed potatoes and signature cocktails. It's not cheap or even moderate you can blow 200 bucks easy on a dinner for two, but it's a delicious and fun treat, a great place to bring a date and that's why I go a few times a year.
Great. My boyfriend loved the spot. I hade to make him promise not to go back without me!
Disappointing, ice cold salads, one server for entire section
Perfect service, extremly tasty food cool location. Perfect Dinner (till the check arived :-) )
wonderful experience! good food.
loved the soup and the fish:)
the dissert was a bit too sweet but nice.
loved the atmosphere.
high quality food but very small portions.
I’ve eaten at Mercer Kitchen before but only downstairs. I was excited to take my niece who just started at NYU and my son who lives here out to breakfast. When we arrived, only the front tables near the bar were being used for service. The three of us were seated next to the bar at a small round table which was a bit uncomfortable. I’d hoped the downstairs would be open to show my niece. We ordered two juice drinks and a coffee, two açaí bowls and one avocado toast for $86.00. My son and niece said they were literally the smallest açaí bowls they’ve ever had. My avo twist was okay but small as well. Basically really felt the experience was a big disappointment all around (food, ambience) for the money. I live in San Diego and visit my son here when I can and I’d remembered enjoying your restaurant for lunch last time I was in town. This time we said we probably won’t go back.
Great food, great atmosphere, but service was sub par. Server forgot about us for a bit, then showed up with check, never offering dessert, after dinner drinks, etc. We ended up asking bus boy for dessert menu and are really glad we did. If it wasn’t for the server, I would have given it five stars. It almost felt like they wanted to rush us to turn the table as there was a line.
Mercer Kitchen is a neighborhood favorite. The food is always delicious..
Getting long in the tooth, booth side of 2 top was shot sitting on the floor Room still got a good vide Cutlery was dirty food was a dis appointment form days past
Great food, great atmosphere. Can't wait to return!
Horrible food and very expensive.
Great Shrimp salad
Good for star gazing
Saw Bruce Springsteen and Gayle King
I definitely want to come back here soon.
I found this restaurant on open table and figured I would give it a shot. The restaurant itself is really nice, I enjoyed the ambiance.
The service needs a lot of work. My drink remained empty until I had to wave someone over to ask for a refill, this is up to the server to be attentive to their section. This is also a potential loss of revenue for the restaurant. We might of had more than 2 glasses of wine if the server would have came over to ask.
The food was undercooked. I ordered the lamb chops to a medium and they came out blue. Overall, I didn’t find this dish to be very good.
I think this restaurant has a lot of potential but it needs some work. Theres no excuse for poor service when you’re competing against a multitude of restaurants in close proximity.
Seating was not good - trying to sit 3 adults at a child size round table - hostess seemed confused and proceeded to give an attitude when asked to be seated at a normal table. The Oysters were the highlight - steaks were blend.
Loved the ambiance and the food was delicious! Very spacious and all the workers were friendly.
Maybe just that day - food usually a lot better.
Everything was perfect except for the noise that was really loud.
Service was terrible and the pizza tasted like water
great ambiance but the past was poor
Wait service not as professional as expected, also not knowledgeable about product offering, very noisy difficult to hear person sitting directly across from me to have a conversation. Food was good but there are lots of great food options these days so it does not stand out. The seat cushions need refurbishing to raise and be more supportive. The bathroom needs hooks behind the stall door. Have not been here since 1999, time for some simple upgrades without changing aesthetic but making more comfortable. Staff on dining floor need better training.
Good food but the service as well as the wine service was non existent
I return whenever I am in NY for the salmon appetizer and the steamed shrimp salad. Can’t get them anywhere else in the US. Our server was very elegant and helpful.
They messed up my order and my date was finished by the time my correct order came out. Then they didn’t compensate anything on the bill. Also had to keep asking for water.
Great food , friendly service
awesome everything and on top of it... they treat you nicely... is it really NyC?
Service was poor. Server did not check to see if all was well. Dishes did not come out together. Soured the experience.
Our reservation didn't mention that we could end up in a commune table next to the kitchen, and not in the main dining area, but the manager was very accommodating and we had a very nice experience. Regarding the food, it is fine, but probably not the main reason to come back. My pasta with sprouts was a little heavy. My friends all had fish. The skate was kind of "minimalistic".
Had reservations for Friday night and regret I went . If you want to have a dinner in quiet place to actually have a conversation and hear what you say or what your friend says - Mercer kitchen is a wrong place to be . Noice is planetary and gives you headache at instance . I wonder how waiters are dealing with this , they must feel deaf after their work , as I did .
Very dark - you can’t read a menu . We had a salmon and a skate . Skate was ok , salmon was ok too but served with a salat around , which was soaked with vinegar . That killed the salmon - why so much vinegar ?
We left after 45 min since the noise was unbearable.
Sorry , Mercer Kitchen , you probably can’t do much about noise , but , maybe , you can hang an extra umbrellas above the corner sofa , to prevent ceilings from leaking during rain . When I was there in July 22 , I ended up with a wet dress after a dinner . I said about it to the waiter , but it didn’t help .
Vinegar or not it’s up to personal taste , however it didn’t work for mine .
Sadly , I have to drop Mercer kitchen from the list of my favorites. Sorry .
The service was not good at all especially considering that when we went the place had very few people in it. The fish main was not even the size of an appetizer and the food overall was nothing special. Very low standards at this place and quite disappointing. There were at least 15 waiters hanging around talking amongst themselves with nothing to do and it was distracting and annoying. Never again.
We've been coming here for over 10 years. The food is still great but the service has gone downhill. It took forever for the waiter(s) to take our orders for drinks and food. At one point we had to go up to them to order additional items and our dinner. When we did they forgot 2 dishes on our order. Also the place could use a little refresh, the seats of the banquet near the bar are ripping. Not a good look for a high-end establishment. The positive is that the food is still good. Would recommend the salmon over crispy rice and the truffle pizza.
The ambience and food was unbelievably good. The truffle pizza is a must.
Only negative point was the service. The waiter was nice in the begging but when we ordered some wine and my mom asked to try another one he was very rude to her and said no. We spent almost 200$ and yet it wasn’t okey to try a wine and see if we would like the other one better?
The wine came when we had already eaten half of our main courses because by then we didn’t wanna pretend to make an effort anymore. Very disappointing.
GREAT Food! Seafood was top notch and I enjoy seafood 2-3 times a week. Very well run - hardly notice the waiters.
Too noisy, menus were dirty and old. In general the place needs a bit of a refresh.
Food was delicious!!! Service was average atmosphere was nice but a bit loud
