My burger arrived cold and undercooked, my fries were extremely oily, and the apple cinnamon cake arrived rock hard and cold. Waste of time and money!
I’m a Regular at Mercer, however I’ve been noticing that the transition from Brunch to Lunch/Dinner in terms of the quality of service from staff needs to be improved. Guests should not have to wait 20 minutes for the check to come to the table, such as I had to today.
we were celebrating a birthday and Mercer kitchen was a hit all around. My friends loved food and the service was spot in. Just the right atmosphere for a cold February afternoon.
Food is over priced for what you get. The portions are tiny and the food was honestly tasteless. Service was quite bad as the servers looked annoyed every time we asked them something. And they forgot s few of the items. The side salad is the weirdest thing I’ve ever seen. It’s one piece of lettuce torn up into three bits with a terrible pure salt dressing. Omelettes cannot be made with more than 1.5 eggs and looked like it was microwaved. Felt like a rip off for how expensive it is. Would not recommend.
Had an awesome brunch at Mercer Kitchen. Wish I lived in NYC. I would be a regular diner for sure!
The food was fresh and came out quickly. The staff was helpful and our server was attentive to our needs.
Uncomfortable seating. Drinks, appetizer and main course arrived at the same time. Overall, poor experience. With so many choices, wish we’d picked another place.
The entrees were not as good as I expected. I had the salmon, and it was pretty dry and not very flavorful. I do not think it is worth the price. However, the appetizers were good, and the service was very attentive.
The fresh Montauk oysters were delicious. I had the scallop entree. The atmosphere was the perfect way to start a weekend.
Always one of my favorite restaurants. Beautiful with superb food.
Booked for Valentines Day night. All of the staff was very helpful and friendly and the setting was very interesting and different. The reason I won’t be going back is the food. It just wasn’t appealing to me.
Wrong restaurant to go on Valentine's day. The practice of flipping tables make the entire experience less enjoyable.
We showed up 10 minutes early for our reservation and were asked to go and wait at the bar. The bar was packed - standing room only with the whole bar front people sitting chatting so you had to shout over their conversation to get hold of the bar tender. Drinks took a while. Can't pay your drink tab with your dinner tab so you have to close out. However....there were empty / set up "tables for two" EVERYWHERE so there's really no good reason we couldn't have gone straight to our table.
After that I couldn't have what I wanted for dinner as apparently all meat is pre-marinated in garlic and I'm not allowed garlic (not that i don't like it...Dr tells me to avoid it). So you can't have plain protein. I ordered the brussell sprout side - as it was advertised, but they made that completely plain and just steamed.
A real shame - I used to enjoy the Mercer kitchen but there's no way after that I'd ever persuade my husband to go again.
What a wonderful place with a big variety on the menu. Even your stubborn in laws can find something!
The overall experience went well. I had no problem pushing my reservation back 30 minutes and the host was very understanding. I do believe that the waiter could've been a bit more attentive and efficient with remembering our order. Other than that I would recommend Mercer kitchen for a quiet private night out.
Amazing appetizers. Entree and pizzas were solid. Loved the ambiance, but our table in the corner was chilly and so dark we couldn’t read menus.
Met a girlfriend for brunch here and it went very well. We were seated quickly and the timeliness was well organized. Good was great! Felt the cocktails were pricey compared, but it is New York after all!! Great spot and will come back
My daughter celebrated her 13th birthday here with five friends and had a fantastic time. Thank you for everything!
Sadly, a disappointment. With so many good dining choices in NYC (Loring Place, Itallienne, The Nomad and Upland, e.g.), why bother with over-priced, uninteresting food, unless you are enamored with a club-like atmosphere. If that is your thing, go for it. If not, go elsewhere.
I’ve dined at Mercer 3 times in the past 30 days. This was by far the better of the 3. The food was good. The staff was ok.
Food was flavorless. Our server was rude and inattentive.
Took too long to sit us (15 minutes) despite the reservation.. and not sure why the sit guests so close to each other wit not enough privacy..
Went for restaurant week and the food was good. We were placed next to where the waiters put in their food so didn’t experience any privacy during the entire evening. When I made the reservation, I was asked the “occasion” and I specified date night. I thought they may give us a quiet or special table. But no. The food was tasty
waited past reservation time for table, while there were empty tables. server was neglectful. shrimp came out terribly over cooked. not impressed. amazing ambiance and space, but won’t be going back anytime soon.
Nicest ambiance I’ve experienced in New York the fact the food was amazing is a bonus. It’s hard to find a sexy restaurant thats that large, not stuffy, or loud.
The food was amazing. Especially the pasta was terrific.
However, there were so many people in the restaurant so it was hard to have a conversation with my friend
Great vibe and ambiance. Took a little while for us to be sat for our reservation, but when they did seat us, they had honored our request for a specific table. so I’m guessing that’s why it took longer.
GET THE SEA BASS CARPACCIO!!!
It was so delicious and the bread that came with it...YUM!!
We will definitely be back!
The entire experience was a disaster’. I don’t know when I’ve ever given a restaurant such a low rating. Reservation was at 7:45pm, seated at 8:10pm. I was ‘encouraged’ to wait in the bar (standing room only!). I purchased a bottle of wine to take to the table (very expensive list!). Once seated, the waiter didn’t have a wine bucket for my white wine (all out!). Fortunately we were seated upstairs in the bar area (downstairs dining room was crazy loud on a Tuesday night!). Ordered from the Restaurant Week menu; started with the flatbread pizza with caramelized onions and bacon. The crust was very nice, but the pizza was overly smoky. Complimentary bread was served ‘refrigerator cold.’
Main course was the shrimp, which was very tasty. Dessert was poached pear...tasteless. The waiter was awkward, had little eye contact, and didn’t know how to respond to questions regarding the menu. Overall the evening was a disaster. I definitely would not return.
Overall good vibe. It is a little beat up decor. Cocktails small and very expensive. Food wasgood had the burger.
Our server was horrendous and rude
Amazing experience. Awesome vibes. Will be back again very soon.
The food was outstanding, every single dish was excellent. The oysters were very fresh, salmon sashimi very tasty, sea bass carpaccio - perfectly seasoned. And to finish, a personal black truffle pizza - perfection! We would definitely go back.
Truffle pizza fantastic
Great food great space
The food was delicious and the atmosphere was wonderful, per usual! There are so many amazing options on the menu you will want to come back and try them all. I have been here 3 times and everytime I left I was very full and very happy.
Great spot for lunch. Restaurant week special was excellent. Service was, as always, pleasant and attentive. One strange habit is serving the second course, then providing cutlery. How about switching the order so that you can eat while the food is hot... otherwise an excellent spot.
Visited for lunch during Winter Restaurant Week NYC. As (bad) luck would have it the two of us were seated right next to one of the server stations so there was a bit more going on at my elbow than I would have liked pretty much the whole time. Went with the RW lunch menu, which perhaps automatically qualifies you for second-class service and value, hard to know. Food was delicious but the RIGATONI AND MEATBALLS WITH SMOKED CHILI TOMATO RAGU was very fatty (and my fear is the fat came from the meat as opposed to something unsaturated, e.g. olive oil). The MUSHROOM SALAD WITH HERBAL PINE NUT DRESSING and SPROUTS was very good and the BLACK TRUFFLE PIZZA WITH FONTINA CHEESE was too. Bottom line re: the food is that it tastes fantastic but I would GUESS it is not on the healthy end of the spectrum.
Perfect in every way a favourite for my boss every time he is in NY!
