Our entire dining experience last night at Mercato was great. The server, the food and the ambience! Will definitely be back again.
Food was excellent.
Waiter very nice and gave great service.
Food was delicious and tables were spaced a good distance apart from each other.
Delicious dinner and great service !
It was an unusual dining experience. We were not sure what was happening but the service was extremely slow. We waited over an hour after we sat down to be served 2 drinks and an ice tea. The wait person was very inattentive. My husband had to get up and look for him to take our order.
We ordered 2 appetizers and they arrived in a timely fashion. Our dinner order took a very long time. Other diners arrived , we served and eating before we had our beverages. My Tuscan salad arrived at the table first and the other 2 entrees came 20 minutes later.
It was a slow Tuesday evening, so we couldn’t figure out where the issue was. We finally finished at 10pm. Not an ideal weeknight out
We went for a date night and ate at an outside table. Service was good and food was great. I had the halibut special with mango salsa, mashed potatoes, and grilled asparagus. The flavors all blended well. Overall a great experience.
it was nice. we sat outdoors , comfortably away from others. the food was very good , but a little pricey.
Everything was ok and
Good food and nice setting. Always enjoy our time
Excellent experience. A favorite restaurant of ours.
Was great! Service was excellent!
Tuna tartar is a must!!!!
We had reservations but seated at a small bar table next to the pizza oven. The heat became overwhelming considering The air conditioner was on, and we were in the mix of the servers coming around the corner so we could not get up without bumping into the staff. We ordered the Artisan charcuterie board, which the waitress could not pronounce. Let alone come over and identify the meat. We assumed it was salami, bologna and prosciutto served with provolone and blue cheese. I don’t know because waitress never checked on us. My husband ordered the Diablo special which turned out to be spaghetti with oversize noodles. We thought they were lasagna noodles they were so big. There was no pepper flakes and we think there were chunks of ham or bacon in it, again not sure because the waitress just never checked on us. We asked for lobster ravioli to go and she never brought it out and forgot about our order. I ordered the Mercato sangria which I think was cranberry water. Unfortunately this was our anniversary dinner And first time here, we will never go back.
We had family visiting from out of town and were excited to take them to our favorite restaurant in West Chester. I’ve been coming here for 6 years and have celebrated many special occasions here; New Year’s Eve dinners, engagement lunch, birthday dinners and have always enjoyed thoroughly. Last night we ordered the Grilled Calamari because it’s our favorite appetizer and it was terrible. We didn’t eat it, the waitress checked with the kitchen and evidently it’s a supply issue which I do understand during this pandemic. However, it was not taken off the bill; and really just set the tone for our dinner. She said other people have complained about it too. Why not remove it temporarily from the menu rather than disappoint customers? Our entrees were fine, nothing special and when the waitress delivered our check she did not say a word and just dropped it off at the table. I’m still kind of shocked we were at Mercato and this happened, but sadly I have no plan of returning anytime soon. There are so many other great choices in west Chester and we are sad we took our company here and had this experience.
It was loud. It took 30 minutes for our waitress to take our drink order. The food was not prepared well. I enjoyed spending time with the people I was with - but I will not be returning. There has to be better restaurants in West Chester.
Waiter was great! Sat outside so noise level better than inside. Delicious
My wife and I went for our anniversary. Kris was our server and he was fantastic and fun. The food was excellent. We’ll be back, again!
We sat outside under the lights and enjoyed a delicious meal! We both ordered the specials and the food was outstanding—no complaints!
The service was good! We went early since we were seeing a show in town. The food was very good and so were the cocktails.
Strip steak special was amazing!
One of my favorite Italian restaurants! The food, drinks, and service has always been amazing!
We have been long time diners at Mercato and have always enjoyed the good consistent food coming out of the kitchen and the great servers (pre-pandemic) Last night's dinner was a whole experience was a disappointment. Server was pleasant, but extremely hurried and probably stretched too thin. Food runners coming out aimlessly with food going table to table looking to match food to the right diners - all night long. Our favorite appetizer the grilled calamari with white beans was was off - no flavor on the calamari - and the beans (normally room temp) came out blazing hot. Caesar salad was tasteless, did they forget the dressing? asked for more and it tasted like mayo! huh? Inedible salad. Told our waitress - she just shrugged.
Thank goodness dinner specials were delicious and plentiful portions - a veal dish with seafood and a halibut fish special. We has 3 cocktails total - nothing spectacular (small drinks) For $165. for 2 people. I can think of a lot of other places to spend those dining dollars. Will think twice about returning to this once favored place.
We enjoyed our outdoor table, service was awesome. The food was tasty.
Unlike in past visits, the service and food quality were disjointed and lacking.
Upon walking up to Mercato it looked beautiful with the cafe lights in the outdoor seating area. We had a reservation and were seated right away but waited over 15 mins before our waiter came over for our drink orders. He was a nice young guy but seemed frazzled. We placed our orders and two out of 4 of them came out wrong. My husband ordered veal piccata and got chicken piccata. I ordered the filet, medium with extra vegetables, no potatoes. I received a well-done steak with a huge amount of mashed potatoes and 4 sprigs of asparagus. Our waiter was very apologetic and offered to resubmit our orders but it would have taken too long and the couple we were with would have been on to dessert by the time the corrected entrees arrived. He was doing his best, but he was given too many parties to attend to. I understand places are having a difficult time with staffing, so we just let it go and enjoyed ourselves. Even with the goofs, I loved the ambiance and would be willing to give them another chance.
Great service..good atmosphere and 3 of the 4 meals were good… I had the Homemade Lasagna which unfortunately was cold in the middle and had to go back.. Personally if food is returned I’d have expected a new meal however, I got the same dish back which had obviously gone back into the oven (I assume it wasn’t a microwave). I’d still recommend Mercato I think I just got a little unlucky on the choice of meal that night
Excellent appetizer, entree and dessert. Scallops special and halibut special were both great and my wife and I were very full. But we still had dessert - cheesecake and allogratto(?) were delicious. The portions were perfect. The outdoor sidewalk dining was really nice and might be the best in WC, even with the motorcycle dude blasting his crappy bike a half block away and the loud bachelorette party waiting for their Uber that finally left all of us in peace. The staff were all great and we will come back again soon.
Everything was much better than average! I wasn’t crazy about watching the wait staff work. I was seated so that I could see, in part, the cooking and the staff standing waiting for orders to come up. It didn’t effect all the good the restaurant had to offer, but just could have done without it!
Amazing food, cocktail and service! Wonderful experience!
I have been to mercato many times amd always hesitant because while the food is good I haven’t had the best service.
Last night Alex was our server.
She was very friendly and attentive. Def a two thumbs up for service with a smile.
We got a special salad and the special fish- both were delicious.
The one downside was the card zooming by loudly and at high speeds.
Very good / tasty food. Get there early and enjoy!
Food mostly tasted good. Fettuccini Alfredo was delicious yet not very hot. Mascarpone crostini still one of the best appetizers around. A few misses impacted the score.
Great food, drinks & service!
Waited over an hour for our first appetizer. Horrible service. Waiter forgot to put our order in and then gave us a very bad excuse to make up for it. Manager did nothing for us. Will not be going back there
Great attentive service. Food was hot and the salad special was amazing! Love the hot & dirty martini!!
Great food. Great service. Nice setting in downtown West Chester. A favorite.
Used to be such a nice place for a great dinner. Our drinks came out after we asked about them again when our appetizer was being cleaned up abs our dinner food took an hour to come out and our child’s meal was missing. Our server barely came to our table and never checked in. Very disappointed. We had a reservation for outside and were told they were running 25 minutes behind for outside when we arrived which we said was no problem and we would be inside, however that was probably a mistake since we were forgotten about all night.
Service needs some work. Waitress had to be asked twice if there were appetizer/dinner specials while I overheard other staff reciting said offerings.
Food was mostly tasteless. For the prices being charged, we expected a significant step up from Olive Garden. What we got was worse. Waitstaff was friendly and the cocktails were good.
Enjoyed our dinner. Our server Chris was great.
