Meatballs dish wasn’t hot, not cooked all the way and had too much bread in them. Brussels sprouts too raw. Need to be fried longer. Pasta with pork didn’t have a red Ragu sauce. Plain clear broth so could use some more flavor. Staff nice and cocktails are great.
Pleasant ambience and good service. Very clean bathrooms. Many thanks!
This is gem of a restaurant located in the lobby of a Hilton Garden Inn. I have dined here several times. The service could not have been more excellent at my most recent visit. I was outside on the patio and had a wonderful young man as the server. I am sorry I cannot recall his name. He was so attentive and made wonderful suggestions. I love the Nonna's meatball starter and usually have it as my meal with a Contorni selection. The brussel sprouts are delicious and they make the best polenta I have ever had. Last night we shared the artichoke flatbread as an appetizer and it too, was delicious. I highly recommend giving this restaurant a try. Wonderful cocktail selection in addition to a nicely balanced menu.
It was very good.
Decent Italian food in a pleasant environment. Some creative touches in the menu. Excellent service even with limited wait staff during home-game weekend.
They were understaffed for waitstaff which is typical right now due to the pandemic & the need for higher wages. In normal circumstances, we would have complained, but the staff was stretched way beyond normal expectations.
The night of our dining out the restaurant had a limited menu due to an event weekend. The choices were okay, but truly limited. One diner's salmon looked excellent; nice sized portion but comes with no accompaniments. All contorni is extra. I had the Nonna's meatball appetizer with a side of brussel sprouts. The sprouts were over cooked; blackened. That was disappointing, but the meatballs were excellent. My husband loved his cocktail and there is a good wine list. So somewhat of a mixed bag for the evening. I would go back and recommend giving it a try to see what you think.
Absolutely delightful surprise at the Hilton Garden Inn, State College, PA. A truly unique Italian restaurant instead of the usual bland fare. Dinner was amazing and breakfast incredible. What a unique take on biscuits & gravy! You won’t be disappointed. A hidden gem. Portions are large/shareable.
Very nice evening. Decor is a bit stark but open and clean looking. Server-Miriam was great and friendly. Ate salmon and lamb shank and all got rave reviews. My only comment is that it would look nicer with some colorful garnish for lamb. Large brown shank in brown gravy on a plate-not great presentation. But delicious. Mozzarella salad made up for it.
Everything was prepared to perfection! Highly recommend the Mushroom Risotto! Only complaint was the liquor selection, but that was easily overcome by the amazing food!
I’m not sure why this restaurant gets such good reviews. Service was terrific and ambiance was very nice, but food was mediocre. The bucatini was swimming in oil with almost no flavor. The lamb shank, while decent, was served solo - no veggie or starch. Onion soup was bland. Half our party thought the food was ok, the other half was left wanting. It’s a shame as we had high hopes for this place.
Delicious! Wait staff and chef were so nice ❤️
The food is excellent. We had the Nona's chicken dish and it was superb. Would definitely recommend this restaurant
too expensive for location
Really good food and service. Great job!!!
Our server was pleasant and attentive. Food reasonably priced for the quality and portion sizes. (we took a lot home!) . While attached to the Hilton Garden Inn, I would say this was beyond normal hotel fair. I would come back again.
Nice redo of previous restaurant. Ambience is well done. Service and food top notch. Music was way too loud in a sparsely occupied room.
Mercato Mio is a gem tucked inside the Hilton Garden Inn. Excellent meatballs and risotto. They make a great cocktail too.
Staff were attentive ; outdoor area was pleasant and comfortable and food was delicious. Manager was eager to see that staff was happy. Overall. We will return to visit and try other entrees.
Nice authentic Italian food in a relaxing setting. Will return.
I loved the carpaccio and the soppressata flatbread appetizers and the seafood risotto.
Excellent food and great service!
We will return and are happy to have to have this wonderful new choice in State College.
Our waitress was lovely and attentive , the dining space was as expected . The food was a disappointment. My clams had no flavor and my daughter’s beef ragu was also bland. Olive Garden would have been better.
We went for an early graduation dinner. We sat outside, but no one was around. The waitress was attentive and polite. Food was delicious and presented beautifully!
Delicious food. From appetizer to dessert, the food was incredible. We will be back.
Delicious dinner, exceptional and friendly service. Will be back again soon.
Great food, wonderful service
Surprisingly great food! Wasn’t expecting such high quality dishes in a hotel restaurant but our meals were outstanding! I also appreciated the amount of gluten free options - some of the best selections in State College which was surprising for an Italian restaurant. We will be coming back again!
First time trying Mercato Mio. Our party ordered the lasagna and the mushroom risotto. The lasagna is prepared with a bechamel sauce. It was very good but served lukewarm. We did not send it back for reheating but I’m sure they would have been happy to do it. Just wish it was checked before it was served. Mushroom risotto was tasty with a great presentation. Server was very attentive. Overall a good experience and we will go back.
Amazing food and service ! Will definitely recommend to others and be keeping this on my list of favorites!
Food was delicious and the service was outstanding. Not your typical hotel restaurant. Will definitely be back next time we’re in State College.
The menu does not accurately represent the dishes. Two of the four dishes our party had were not accurately described and failed to meet our expectations.
Meatballs to die for. Meal exceeded our expectations. Excellent food, creative cocktails. Server was attentive, friendly and informed about the menu. Definitely going back.
A nice hidden gem!! All of the portions are very large and have great flavor.
Excellent. Top to bottom. Don't let the fact that it's in a hotel discourage you. You will be pleasantly surprised.
Nice dinner. Quiet environment. Enjoyable.
Restaurant was understaffed. After arriving and being completely ignored for over 5 minutes I walked up to the bar and said we had reservations. I was told we still had six minutes until our reservations and we had to wait. The food was excellent and our server was good, it was just how we were treated on arrival. We almost turned around and walked out.
Our server was very nice and attentive. The food was just OK.
We had a very good meal and will return in the future.
Great meal after a long day!
