The menu at Mercato Italiano consists of dishes such as butternut squash gnocchi, chicken saltimbocca, pork chop, short rib ravioli, mussels, meatballs, fried goat cheese balls, salads, and lasagna.
Ina trip of great bourbon and really bad food, this was a welcome change. By far the best meal of the trip. We picked it through open table and really had no idea where we were heading. An uber drive into a nice little suburb w did not know existed (only about 15 minutes) and we were in a great little casual italian place. Food was great, even had some good wines to choose from. Service was fantastic. Not a formal dining experience but an amazing casual place to get good food

Food was excellent! Freshly made pastas with delicious sauces that weren’t too heavy. Only issue we had was service. Our server was very nice but kind of forgot about us. We sat and waited and waited for her to come back and take our order and bring our bread and wine.
This was our first time here and will not be our last. Highly recommended.
Great food and service. A little pricey for portion size

Our first visit to the Mercato was much better than this visit. This was a very busy night and the service was slow but they were training new help so hopefully things will improve. The manager however was very attentive, checking on us frequently. As for the food, it was just okay. I saw many other dishes that looked great. Will definitely return to try other choices. Overall this is a fun, lively place!

Dish was supposed to have ingredients listed on the menu that were not present in the squid ink pasta. Arugula salad was a joke for $13. Overpriced and the most uncomfortable chairs ever.

Absolutely terrible service. The hostess didn’t acknowledge us once we arrived after us speaking three times. Server was spread all over the restaurant and don’t provide timely service. Food was average. I do not recommend this restaurant.

Mussels, bread, and Caesar salad with fried anchovies are always amazing. Wife adores the short rib ravioli. 😋
This was our first visit to Mercato and we weren't disappointed. The hosts at Chateau Bourbon (next door to Mercato) provided some recommendations. We started with the mussels. So good with a nice spiciness. My wife had the short rib ravioli and I had the costoletta, which is a 14 oz. bone-in pork chop, stuffed with smoked mozzarella and wrapped in prosciutto. Both meals were wonderful. We'll be back the next time we visit Norton Commons.

We were a party of 6 & it was our first time here. It was a beautiful day, so we wanted to sit outside. Ask if they would put 2 open tables together so we could sit outside. The hostess had a table set inside and she wasn't really willing to accommodate our request. So not a great start.
Our server was very good. I had lasagna, which was very good. My wife had the margarita pizza, which she said was only OK. The fresh bread was very good as well.

The food was much better than my previous visit, however, the noise level is obnoxious! You almost have to yell to have dinner conversation. And the bartender, who must’ve been having a bad day because the person was practically throwing the cleared dishes into the bus pan, should be fired!!

Plastic-like chairs are uncomfortable. Some of the tables outside are not level.

Always, Amazing food! Unfortunately Kitchen was understaffed on a holiday so our meal took quite a long time to arrive. We were originally seated at a very crowded but the hostess happily moved us, and our waitress was nice but unfortunately this dinner was for my parents 40th anniversary AND Mother’s Day both of which were completely forgotten by the restaurant by the time our food finally arrived. We went elsewhere for dessert,
Brunch food was excellent. Our server was very attentive and made an excellent mimosa!

We had brunch the day after Derby. We love the atmosphere and have been to the restaurant before but not for brunch. The food was ok but not nearly as good as it is for dinner. They were sold out of several brunch items because it was very busy and seemed to be understaffed. I had steak and eggs and it was ok but nothing special. I think it is a great place for dinner but brunch wasn't as good.
Jennifer, We hope to have the same great food and service at all hours of service. We do apologize that your last experience was not what you would expect for Mercato. We are actually in the middle of making a new brunch menu, that I can assure will have that Wow factor. I hope that we will see you again soon and hope you give our brunch another shot.
Loved it! Had 7 out of town guests in for derby! They had a fabulous time!
Food was solid but the service was unfortunately very lacking. We ordered a cocktail when we sat down and received them after first course and sometime during the entree. Literally waiting more than half the meal for your first drink. This was fairly consistent with the remainder of details. Would I go back? Likely just not be seated with same server.

Delicious food that was outside of the "ordinary" red-sauced Italian.

We were seated by the front door and every time someone came and went we were blasted by cold air. We finally moved to another table. The red metal chairs are uncomfortable and not what you expect to sit on when paying more than $100.00 with tip for dinner for two. Menu selection was good, service was good.
Great service, food and ambiance. Like being in an authentic trattoria. All diners preferred different entrees. The frite de mare and bone broth were spot on. They offer made to order gluten free pasta. Delicious!

This was our first time visiting this restaurant in this unique developing neighborhood. In the warm weather several of the doors could be lifted up to give the place an open air experience on a quaint, low traffic road. Our server, Becky, was fantastic helping us through the wine list and menu. The food was very good in portion and taste. Our biggest surprise was the pork chop stuffed with smoked mozzarella, wrapped in prosciutto then baked. We usually don't order pork chops out but glad we did this night.

The restaurant was not crowded. We asked for bread twice, and were told by our waitress that she would get it when she could. It arrived right before our dinners -2 pieces for four people. The food was good, but smallish portions for hefty prices.

Fantastic as always. We went for the top ten Tuesday specials they are having, and got the spaghetti and meatballs for $4 less. Also, their rewards program is pretty nice!

The food was good but service was poor - there was no milk in the restaurant or apple juice so our child had to drink water. With no milk, there was no cappuccinos either which was disappointing for dessert.
