   Our server did not create a great experience: he seemed annoyed at us, and didn’t explain that some dishes take longer to prepare. The food was just OK. It is exceedingly overpriced for what it is.

   For a special meal downtown, I would recommend Mercat. The dining room is lovely. Classy, but not stuffy. Very attentive, friendly, yet professional, service. We dined at a leisurely pace and had time to chat without having to raise our voices. We enjoyed a variety of beautifully prepared, small plates, but the larger entrees sounded scrumptious, too.

    Amazing Spanish food. We love going to Mercat whenever we do a Chicago downtown weekend. The service was very attentive too.
