Mercado - Los Angeles Ratings and Reviews
My son and I have eaten here several time and absolutely love this restaurant. Everything we have tried on the menu has been divine. The carnitas is particularly wonderful. Service is already excellent (not necessarily to be expected at a restaurant of this type), but on our last occasion it was particularly good, the wait person was attentive to exactly the right degree and generous in helping us.
Took my boyfriend here for his birthday and we both loved the food and our server was so friendly and attentive ! Loved the cocktails they were delicious ! the food was also outstanding and can we talk about the GUACAMOLE! Delicious!
Would definitely come again !
The food was amazing (as always) and the ambiance as well. The service was very lacking. The server took 30 minutes to take our order, we had to continuously ask for water, place settings, glasses for the water, etc. and were met with an attitude each time. It was my birthday and they did give me a nice desert (which no one asked for) and that was very nice, but aside from that the service was not my favorite
WOW!! Definitely a spot to visit every time I come to the area. Authentic Mexican Food at its finest.......Guacamole was to die for! Carnitas and Steak were perfectly made and seasoned and the house made corn tortillas was PERFECT!!! Service was Great too!!!
This was our first time at Mercado. Had a hankering for mexican food and looked on Open Table for what was available around us. Mercado was close to where we live so we decided to try it. Once we got there, I realized I had passed it many times in my car and had admired the outdoor vibe of the restaurant. Was happy to stop in and while we were expecting a lunch menu at 1:00 pm on a Saturday, we were handed a brunch menu. No worries. While the menu was definately "brunch like", we still found several items that looked yummy. We ordered and the food arrived quickly. The service is great, friendly and helpful. The food is fresh and well presented. The margaritas were great too! A definate re-do in the future.
I LOOOOVE Mercado... it’s the BEST MEXICAN FOOD IN ALL OF LOS ANGELES (and that’s saying something) the best item on their entire menu is the Carnitas Nachos, but the kitchen can be very stingy with them. They sometimes refuse to serve them unless it’s happy hour or brunch... but they are the BEST thing on the ENTIRE menu, so it should be experienced. The Dos Gringas are also PHENOMINAL. The breakfast burrito on the brunch menu is to die for. Their seasonal margaritas are also great 👍🏼
Booked a table for two adults and one child, in the reservation I requested a high chair for my toddler. We drove across town to attend the reservation at Mercado, on arrival we were told as we required a high chair we were unable to enjoy the happy hour menu unless my toddler sat at a high communal table in a high adult chair unharnessed in which he would severely hurt him self if he fell. The only other option offered was to be seated in the back (which I was fine with) BUT we would have to give the table back in 30min therefor would have to rush our meal. The restaurant was pretty empty when we arrived, 2 family's seated and all other customers where at the bar, no shortage of tables!
1. Happy Hours are implemented to drive customers in during usually quiet hours, happy hours are mostly attended by family's as children eat early - the fact that we were unable to sit at a table with a safe seat for my toddler and therefor turned away when there was plenty of empty seating is RIDICULOUS!
2. Had we sat at the high table and my child had badly fallen this could be a liability suit, why would you risk that?
3. The ridiculous seating rules during 'Happy Hour' are not stipulated in the Open Table profile or on the restaurants own website for that matter other wise we would never had made a reservation and waisted our time driving to this location.
I had always been a fan of the Resturant location in Santa Monica which have never enforced such stupid rules or turned us away as a family and have always been accommodating. However I will never return to either location as I'm completely appalled by the service I received today, the food is fine it's not amazing and definitely not worth this terrible service. I'm happy never to return and will never recommend this restaurant again.
The food is tasty and great for sharing but the service was way too slow and unacceptable. It took our waitress 20 min to take our initial order, and throughout the rest of our meal we had to get up from our seat to find her or bother another staff member to do her job.
First time to this resturant. Started off with a jalapeno margarita, the best I’ve had! For appetizer we had the guacamole which was super fresh and tasty, well seasoned. Chips were perfect.
Entrees we tried, the Chile Relleno which was extremely tasty, and my son tried the fish special which was MahiMahi and it was also well prepared and delicious. For dessert, we shared an order of flan. It was very creamy and not to sweet, perfect way to top off our dinner. Highly recommend, hip place and bar is vibrant and exciting!
Been here a few times now. I always get the carne Asada and it's very well cooked. I get medium. The pricing is a bit overkill for some of their dishes like $27 for a piece of carne asada and that's all you get, but it's very good. I'm not much a tequila person so I can't rate their drinks as I always get the wine which is decent. Maybe a little overpriced but ok.
The restaurant is a fun place to eat and I do enjoy coming here but wouldn't make it my regular spot. Definitely worth a try!
As usual, we had a good meal here with delicious drinks and very good food. Carnitas were great, though the ceviche was a little underwhelming. It’s the only thing we would not recommend. Otherwise the spices and flavor notes are interesting and surprising and we would return. The servers are very friendly.
