Great food, amazing drinks. Service was fast and she was nice enough to explain some dishes and drinks and offer suggestions. It was just very loud in there. Love the music. But the drunk 20 something's were annoying.
Drinks were fabulous, but the food was mediocre. Portions very small. Felt like a sardine cramped up next to other tables. Would definitely come back for drinks only at the bar
Everyu was great. Perhaps a bit noisy for me. Had to raise my voice to speak to my dinner guest.
Our waitress was exceptional. It was a busy night with St. Patrick's Day crazy going on. The food was consistently great across everything we ate. Our waitress gave us expert recommendations and even made modifications to our cocktails based on our preferences for sweetness and spiciness. She also pointed out the same points to consider as we evaluated several food options.
Cute venue, great food. A little noisy, but none of us minded that.
My visit to Mercadito was during the St. Patricks day weekend. I made a reservation the day of wanting to go and had no problem getting the time I wanted. The food was authentic and excellent. The place was crowded, understandably. The music level was crazy loud. I feel like people had to speak louder to hear themselves which added to the noise. Overall, I will go back and recommend.
Their tacos are awesome! We are definitely going back.
Best shrimp tacos & guacamole
Meeting with a friend and wait staff was not attentive to our needs and felt rejected of wait staff. I Ben there several times and I never felt this way before. Waiter name was (Jesus)
So ridiculously loud we had to leave
Fantastic place to bring a group for a fun evening. Food is excellent and great for sharing. Noise level is extremely high and not for those who cannot speak up to have a conversation. Service was perfunctory yet impersonal.
Amazing tacos! Amazing guac! Amazing margaritas!
Best shrimp tacos in town and delicious Margo margaritas!
Very busy. Server seemed like a lot was put on his plate, could have used maybe another server since the establishment was so busy.
I was in town for a business trip. This was a great place for dinner and a drink. I would recommend it to anyone who is in the area.
Best margaritas—period! They cost $15 and are actually worth it.
It was okay. The only exception to a rather unexciting experience was our server Laura who did a wonderful job. I like a noisy restaurant but this was beyond that and they are clearly trying to for too many tables in the space..... Might as well make it communal seating since that's how it felt .... Constantly having to scoot out of the way so the diners next to us could continually get in and out of their table.
Great place to eat Mexican
The ambiance was really nice and the flavors of the tacos were really interesting. Not your typical tacos. A little on the pricey side for what you get and you can’t mix and match tacos for some reason, but the flavors are worth trying. I ended up trading a couple tacos with my friends. I would go again.
The food was delicious but the portion sizes were too small
Wonderful food! We had a great service. Food came out so quick!
Service was poor - after our food came out (really fast) our waiter never came back. He circled around a big party just waiting to see if they would need anything. We tried waving, but he never looked at us. Left us alone for about 30 minutes, with no chance to order more food or more drinks. We had been planning to do both but just decided to leave when we finally got his attention. Disappointing experience.
Price point for tacos is high, if there are more than two of you, expect your food to come out in intervals so don't plan on waiting for everyone's food to arrive or you it will be cold
I thought the food was good. the room is very noisy but had a good vibe.
Had us wait for an extended period of time for our table. The noise level is through the roof with the music blasting so people are literally yelling to talk at the same table. if you’re looking for a quiet dinner then this is not the place. Seems more like a hook up spot for twenty somethings.
The bathrooms are dimly lit with one bulb illuminating the rest room.
The food prices are not conducive to the meal portions you get. $16 dollars for 4 tacos!! Really. I’d understand if you get some sides for those $16 but NOPE!!!! Food selection is minimal as they advertise authentic Mexican cuisine but I’ve gotten better food from other places.
Bottom line, if you like to overpay, yell across the table at your friends and have to put up with the minimal food selection then go ahead. Eye candy galore as I mentioned it seems more like a singles hook up spot.
Not one of my favorite places in Chicago- was disappointed in the service and food and it was incredibly loud.
Food was absolutely delicious! It was so loud there which makes it hard to converse.
I would recommend this to a friend with a party of 5 and above as the seating for a party of 3 or less is incredibly cramped.
Food was tooooo spicy
Great service and great food.
It was nice, pretty place and food was good.
However it was just soooo noisy (not because of music) so i do not recomment for the people who want to talk to your friends.
Server was nice, but she was so busy so couldnt care much about the table so i just left after a drink. Overall it was very nice so if you dont mind being loud just go and enjoy for foods and its atmosphere.
Mercadito is the MOST I've ever paid for Mexican food. It is far removed from street taco culture. However, the flavors are incredible contemporary adaptations of Mexican culinary traditions. If you're trying to impress a date, a work social function, or families from out of town, you can't go wrong with the food and cocktails at Mercadito. Be prepared to spend app. $100 on an appetizer, one entree, and two drinks (with tip.)
The food was okay and the drinks were good. Overall I think it is overpriced Mexican food. The waiter was nice and friendly.
Food and service excellent. Very noisy. Could barely hear each other talk.
Not a bad place for dinner by any stretch. However, the prices are definitely high and the noise level could be improved upon.
The only thing stopping this from being a five star review is that the music was far too loud. Had to shout to make myself heard by people next to me
Food is very overpriced. Service is super slow. Its too loud to have a simple conversation.
Great restaurant, awesome food, fantastic service in a fun lively cozy warm environment with awesome service!
Service and food were fantastic! I loved the queso fundido to start. Tried multiple different salsas all unique in taste but well done!! Had the mahi mahi fish tacos and the carne tacos. Couldn’t decide what I liked best but they were both gone when the meal was finished! Solid Margs too!!
Always enjoy Mercadito. Great tacos and guacamole. Good selection of drinks. Fun for a semi-casual date or an outing with coworkers.
