Merakia, a word that modern Greeks often use to describe doing something with soul, creativity, and love, is a restaurant that celebrates this rustic style of cooking, known in Greece as a Psistaria, where meats are either grilled or cooked on a spit. Owners Andreas and Renee Typaldos, with their dedicated team, feature items that would make the starving armatoloi freedom fighters proud. Steaks will be well represented and served with Greek accompaniments, while lamb, goat, chicken and other meats and fish will be roasted on the spit with a selection of Greek inspired wines, appetizers, salads and desserts.

Service was a little slow especially as it was the end of the night on a weekday. Food was great though and they were accommodating of dietary restrictions and allergies. Would definitely come back.

Food is off the charts fresh and tasty, best tzaziki ( spell? ) I've ever had( greek yogurt w/ cucumber ), great greek sausage, terrific greek meatballs, forgettable grilled calamari ( but I don't care for that texture ) Tomahawk steak for 2 was delicious but not quite enough to fill us up. And for that price...it should! As a matter of fact - iy is marked market price on menu - so i asked what that price was and the answer i got was $3 per ounce...so unless you're adept at math on the fly - they leave you in the dark.The Greek yogurt dessert w/ berry compote was a fantastic dessert.
The server was impatient, each time I would look up from menu to ask a question - she had already walked away leaving me to my own devices.It felt like she was busy and couldn't be bothered w/ any questions...

The service was very slow but friendly. The food was OK but the portions on the appetizers were small. The $62 rib eye was not worth it - I found it to be tough. The room was LOUD. It is a pretty place but not necessarily a go back to unless I was with a group.

Merakia is a beautiful place to eat! The lights and overall setting is very nice. Perfect place for a semi romantic dinner. The food overall was very good, we had the Mediterranean salad and the pita with dip. Both were excellently done. My wife ordered the lamb chops which were perfectly done to her liking and everything tasted delicious! Now the bad part of the review, I ordered the $62, 20 ounce small bone in dry aged rib eye. Pricey yes but most rib eye is over priced now. I ordered it medium rare, the steak came out perfectly done. The problem is the meat was beyond dry aged to the point of cured. This usually happens when too much fat is removed prior to the aging process. The steak was barely edible, I did not complain and took it to go thinking maybe if reheat it with a tab of butter it will be good. Nope, barely edible still. Merakia, if your going to serve dry aged steak, learn how to dry age steak. Thank goodness I didn't convince my wife to order porterhouse for 2! We will return but I will stay clear of the steaks, the fish and roasted lamb looked amazing.

Magnificent decor, gorgeous space and such a cozy spot with the fireplace in the back room. Also great service.
This is modern interpretation of Greek food, but I found the flavor intensity a bit disappointing. Ordered the Grilled lamb chops - the meat was high quality but the seasoning bland and hardly noticeable. The tzatziki was so bland i couldn’t even detect a hint of garlic and lemon potatoes ( new baby potatoes) weren’t lemony.

If i wasn’t expecting the traditional Greek flavors i would probably have been perfectly happy- but I choose a Greek restaurant and menu items because I wanted Greek flavors.

The tzatziki and bread were super good, the octopus not so much, almost had a mushy feel to it. Meatballs were pretty tasty, the grilled calamari were just ok. Swordfish I regretted getting but I can’t say it was cooked wrong just didn’t settle well in my stomach. Perhaps I’m just not a big swordfish person.

Came to Merakia for a girls night and had an awesome experience. Two friends came by early and had drinks at the bar and the rest of us joined them for delish cocktails. Our table was ready for us when we were ready. The food, service and ambiance are lovely. We'd totally be back and recommend the restaurant!

I went to Merakia on Valentine’s Day and I was unfortunately very disappointed. I understand it was Valentine’s Day and they were busy but the service was subpar to say the very least. It took 20 minutes to get our drinks (1 cocktail and 1 glass of wine), our appetizers (4 assorted Mediterranean dips) came with 6 small pieces of pita bread and when we asked for more that was another 20 minute wait. We also got the octopus that was tasty but nothing to write home about. After waiting about 15 minutes. I then noticed I hadn’t seen our server since we got our drinks and people who were seated well after we arrived, were eating their entrees or even dessert. When I raised my concerns the first time I was told “it’s coming it’s coming”. We waited. Again, I raised my concerns and was told “it’ll be right out, don’t worry”. After waiting about an hour, I got up and spoke with a manager who did apologize profusely, and admitted that our order had probably gotten lost. Merakia did a good job at service recovery, sending us a free round of drinks and two glasses of wine. But then when the entrees finally did arrive, there was nothing to be wow’ed about. I got the branzino fillet and there were bones in it. My boyfriend got the lamb chops and requested them to be cooked medium, but was cooked more like medium well. The desserts were excellent, I will say that. All in all, the ambiance and location are great. But the food and the service make this place less than appealing. I personally would not recommend for those who love Greek food. A few blocks away is Periyali, which is much much much more desirable.

Everything was perfect! request to be seated near fireplace and they cam through. We felt a little pressed on time they were closing up turned off fireplace and pumped up the AC, so we can leave. It was somewhat rude especially for what your paying to eat there. That was a turn off!

I made this reservation for my fiancee's 30th birthday (& our engagement) and made comments including this within our reservation, however nothing was done special for us. Regardless of this, the ambiance, decor, lighting, etc were amazing and flawless. However, the service was very poor. The servers were not friendly, and rarely checked on us. It felt like we were not exactly wanted there. We thought the food was very expensive, especially for what was offered on the menu, however the steak we had was amazing. I knew going to this restaurant that it was a nice restaurant and would be pricey, however it was over-priced for wine (especially) and their options for food.

Great night with friends. Nice ambience, amazing drinks. We got the tomahawk and a bunch of Greek sides. The dips are a must. Will definitely come back to this extremely fun place.

Very good first experience. I could only book a 930 PM reservation on Open Table & after calling the restaurant, the hostess was able to accommodate an earlier reservation. The ambience and decor was just gorgeous. The food was authentic and delicious and reminded me of being in Greece. I definitely would recommend this restaurant!

Everything was great, atmosphere is beautiful! However, I specifically put in a request that it was fiance's birthday in hopes of a candle or Happy Birthday to come out with dessert and that did not happen.

Merakia never disappoints. The ambiance, food, and drinks are outstanding. Ended up going during restaurant week, and what a deal. The dips and hanger steak are out of this world, not to mention the baklavah! Will be back very soon, glad its down the block from my office!

This restaurant is about the scene. The ambience is chic and intimate but if you’re looking for good food, skip it. The appetizers were mediocre, the salad was nothing to write home about, the dips were good, but the entrees were extremely over priced and preposterous. We ordered the $51 “Dancing Lamb” which should have danced off our plates. It was rank and greasy, lacking flavor and came with a side of incredibly sad potatoes. The hanger steak had good flavor but for $31, served a la carte, was not worth the price tag. The cauliflower gratin was pretty good but again, forced to order as a supplemental side with the hanger steak. I think this restaurant is extremely over priced for the quality of food and you are really paying for the atmosphere. Not to mention, service was sub par, by someone who was rather abrupt and seemed to be half hearted. We will not be revisiting.

Ok it’s New Year’s Eve - I get it. But they weren’t very busy - the wait staff (except busboy) was brutal - such a rude waitress - used to bring clients here but this experience was enough to not go back - smart of them to add gratuity because the attitude from the waitress was so bad they should have paid us to eat there

Overpriced. Seating was limited by the front door so brutally cold and food got cold quick. Inattentive waiters who did not respond like a pricy restaurant should. Steak at $120 bucks was full of hard to consume muscle like meat. Salad was okay but for the money pretty small. Love Greek food but not this restaurant.

This is my fifth time visiting Merakia, every visit is the same as the last, amazing! The food is wonderful, the service is wonderful and the staff is amazing! I always leave with leftovers to enjoy the next day and the leftovers are delicious too - the mark of excellent food.

I have recommended Merakia to many friends including my friend Stephanos Kotsakis, who raved about the service after his visit. Merakia is my go to restaurant for the experience!

The noise level was horrendous. It took 45 minutes from the time we ordered for our dinner to arrive. The signature dish was unavailable. Never again!
