My friend invited me out to this establishment for the lamb which was hyped up as one of the best in all of Manhattan. However when we ordered there was no lamb or mountain thief soup.
We settled for the tomahawk which you can get pretty much anywhere. It was alright.
The feta psiti was the highlight. The cheese was banging.
A different offering from the usual Greek cuisine. Lovely all around experience. Will definitely return.
Great food great service. Will definitely recommend for a go-to Greek spot.
I happened to stumble upon this restaurant during a Google search and am so happy that I did! It’s a cute restaurant with great food. All three of us were happy with what we ordered and our server, Angelo, gave us great recommendations. FYI, if you are used to the traditional baklava, theirs is different!
Outstanding! It was a business dinner and everyone loved it! Will come back again!
I had a lovely meal with my niece. The waitstaff were attentive without being overbearing. The food was quite good although not exceptional. For example, the eggplant dip was bland and the horiatiki salad overdressed. I loved the atmosphere and my niece thought the back room would be great for a bridal shower. While the management was clearly present, the bathroom was clearly not on their radar and needed refreshing.
Food was spectacular, you can easily split 3 entrees with 5 people - we did 2 lamb entrees, the fish for 2 and the squid ink pasta. Depending on how many sides you get, you don’t even need the pasta dish. The brusselsprouts are fantastic, as are the mushrooms and octopus. Wonderful setting with a great ambiance. Loved this place!
Yes, I like Merakia and I'd recommend it to a friend. Tzaziki and Santorini cocktail were very good!
My reason for a 3 star review is I didn't get what I expected. The Santorini white wine tasted it like diluted lemonade. I thought I was getting a salad and instead I got some fried tomatoes. The description on the menu wasn't accurate.
Next time I'll order something else...
The food was absolutely delicious: very fresh and made with simple ingredients to let the food shine!
Everything was perfect. The ambience, the service, the food and my special request was done very well. Thank you to the friendly staff for everything.
They're great! This place should be consistently packed. Excellent food, delightful services and reasonable prices. Go and enjoy it before everyone else discovers how fantastic it is.
the decor and ambiance are nice, and the bartender was pretty friendly. i would return here for drinks. the food was just okay. i found the branzino a bit dry and flavourless. the beet salad was also a bit bland (save the actual beets and tangerines).
by the way, we were offered “still or sparkling” water as water options. thinking still was tap we chose that option, but later found out they were charging for mineral water. while this isn’t a big deal, it can be misleading; they should offer tap as well.
I made the reservation based upon the reviews for a business dinner. Before walking in I noticed 'grade pending'. If I was with friends I would have cancelled the reservation. The food was quite good but I couldn't get the health rating out of my mind.
We went for Restaurant week
The Branzino was one of the best dishes I’ve had
The food was good but too expensive for the quality. 52 dollars for an entree is unacceptable . - bill over 250 for 2 people with only 2 glasses of wine ordered and no desert is overpriced . Service was lacking , restaurant was beautiful .
The flavorful warmed pita tastes of spices, sea salt. Thz mixed spreads pikilia, delicious. My salmon I found to be thoroughly enjoyable.
Food was excellent branzino and salads
Food was delicious - every single dish. Rustic Greek, limitedmenu overall but each dish was excellent. Has the crispy lamb from spit - phenomenal coming from a Greek. Branzino was very nice and lamb chops were slightly under cooked.
Get the tray of assorted desserts $15 - nice ending. Not inexpensive by any stretch but quality and service are up to pat.
Amazing service! Thank you so much! Really enjoyed the food as well!
Service was ideal. Noise level a bit too much. Food terrific.
Awesome experience at Merakia! We went for restaurant week and it did not disappoint.
We had a big group but they were accommodating and service was good.
Three courses for $42 was well worth the price and they had good selections for appetizers and entrees.
They also had great happy hour from 4-7pm with $8 wines and $9 cocktails.
I would definitely come back!
The best Greek food I've had in New York! Cannot wait to go back.
Very loud and slow but the food was excellent!!!! I would go back and ask to be seated in the back room
Food was great but Restaurant Week allowed it to be more affordable. The wine list is incredibly expensive - especially for Greek wines. Other cons - service was slow and it has a 'grade pending' from the health department, which sceeves me out.
Food was solid but a giant waterbug was on my table and the manager kicked it off and brushed it off with apologizing to me in regards to it.
Impeccable Greek food! Nice atmosphere too, better than other upscale Greek restaurants in the city
Most of the food was excellent, especially the lamb chops, brussell sprouts, and tomato/mozzarella/carmelized onion salad. Our lamb on the spit was a little dry -- a little disappointing since we were so excited about it. Our friend's lamb chop entree, on the other hand, was extremely moist. It was also a little bit too loud to hear each other comfortably; I know it was restaurant week, so that makes a difference. Overall, though, the staff was very nice, service excellent, and food was very good. I'd recommend!
It was way overpriced for quality of food and wine and my husband got really sick!
We had a great dinner. Fabulous food, generous portions... and never rushed
wine prices relative to food prices definitely out of line. much too high
It was such a nice place, the booths were comfortable and big, and it seemed small but there’s really nice seating in the back too. It’s beautiful inside and the food was great, the portions were a good size, and the people were so nice! Overall great experience!
Food was fantastic, dancing lamb was tender.. Will def be back again.
What a fantastic experience all around! The ambience is romantic with soft lighting, exposed brick and a rustic charm that feels intimate. The food was delicious, succulent and beautifully seasoned. Our server was charming and so personable. We will definitely be back!
I was very excited to try this restaurant after seeing photos of the gorgeous interior. Yelp reviews were mixed for service, but in our experience all of the staff could not have been nicer. The food was all absolutely delicious - we shared most of the appetizers and sides. It is a big on the pricier side but in my opinion worth the cost. Will go again and recommend to friends!
Absolutely fantastic Greek food! The tomato keftedes are out of this world. The space is gorgeous and the service is attentive and charming. Though it’s described as a steakhouse, lots of options for vegetarian / pescatarian folks. Everything is just delicious - couldn’t recommend more highly!
Came here with a friend midweek and we had a great experience! The food was really good and the service was great!
Really friendly service, great food, and beautiful atmosphere! We really enjoyed our dinner here.
Chef not present,no lamb!!!! NOT GOOD!
