Happened upon this restaurant randomly while browsing, and wow I was not disappointed. The food was outstanding in every way and the menu had a great selection. It was truly hard pinpointing just one selection. On top of the food and service being impeccable, they had the perfect measures in place for social distancing and did not seem to hinder the experience at all. Will gladly be coming back soon.
So happy that Meraki is open for dine in service once again! Food was fantastic and we all loved seeing all of our favorites back on the menu! We'll be back again and again!
Wonderful food and amazing and knowledgeable staff. It’s the perfect place to have a decadent meal over a special occasion or date.
We had an outstanding experience! This was our first visit and the vibe we’d heard about is well deserved.
The menu offered a 3 priced option ($35,$50,$65) of a surprise chef tasting as well as a really interesting selection of menu choices. We went with the mid priced tasting menu. What a treat! 7 courses that were off the menu - a wonderful mushroom soup, arugula and celery salad with charred strawberries and saffron foam, pork belly with cornmeal ice cream and black pepper crumbles (sounds wild but absolutely delicious), sweet potato Simonas, root vegetable pave, smoked duck breast with cherries and duck fat confit potatoes and Brüssel sprouts, and a carrot cake for dessert. We were wowed and also well fed as we took some home as well.
Our dining experience was awesome and made even more enjoyable by a warm and engaging staff. We will be back for sure.
Loved everything about Meraki! The tempura cauliflower has me thinking about it days later. Can’t wait to go back!
Food and cocktails were exquisite! Service was outstanding. Will definitely be back
Always enjoy the blind tasting menu!
The culinary wizards of Walkers Point strike once again. The Chef’s Tasting menu never fails to explore the boundaries of one’s expectations. The single best restaurant in Milwaukee! Probably Wisconsin! No, make that the Great Lakes (sorry Chicago). Why no James Beard nominations or awards? Now that is truly a mystery.
We sat at the chef’s bar and ordered the tasting menu with the beverage pairing. Absolutely outstanding. Meraki serves food that makes you stop, think and savor.
The food and service was amazing. Let the chef choose our meal and we were so happy with their choices. Rabbit, duck, frog, and pork belly. Just four of six dishes. Dessert and appetizer also tasted great. Going back for sure.
We had a lovely evening. The goat and the korean beef dish amazing. Appetizers were just fine. Duck dish, none of us liked it.
Service was good. Great sommeilier.
Overall we really enjoyed it. Will be back.
Fiidbwas delicious. My hubby and I shared several entrees. The flounder was my favorite, flakey and perfectly cooked. We also had the Salmon and the Venison. We will definitely be going back.
Loved all of it! The staff interaction they were excited and engaged! Love the food choices from the Chef's and the bubbly was delish as well! We will be back! Thank you for a wonderful experience!
Meraki came highly recommended by a friend, and I can see why. The wait and kitchen staff are committed to providing an optimal dining experience, and I believe did their utmost to deliver. Unfortunately though, food the evening we were there fell a bit short of our expectations.
We had considered a series of entrees but ultimately decided to try a mid-tier ($50/person) tasting menu. The tasting included a series of courses that showed the obvious technical abilities of the person/people preparing them; but which suffered in a pair of courses from texture or flavor issues, ultimately dragging down our overall impression.
Our meal included several duck course which was was cooked to a beautiful pink, but had several bites which were so tough as to be unable to be chewed. Our fish course featured a tart of salmon and apricots, which as a pairing was presented beautifully, but ended up as an unappetizing combination of flavors.)
The food was delicious and the service was outstanding! Love the chef tasting menu with pairing choice.
Food was amazing. Recommend the chef’s choice with wine pairing. It was also cool to sit at the bar and watch the food being prepared.
Didn't have what I wanted due to it being removed off the menu (still on the online menu tho) order brisket and it was inedible so much fat. I think I got 3 bites totally my husband ordered the same thing and his was the same all fat. Not worth the price we paid!
Excellent scallops!
My wife and I had never dined at Meraki and decided to make reservations to dine there after attending a play at the Milwaukee Repertory Theater. We arrived early and stopped at the bar to have a glass of wine before being seated. Meraki has a very nice wine list and they have wines not commonly found on other restaurants wine lists. We decided to try a Greek white wine which was dry, crisp, and very good. When seated our server was very prompt in delivering the menu's and after reviewing the choices my wife decided to try the duck and I chose the Korean smoked brisket. When the meals were delivered my wife was a little disappointed when she began eating the duck as it was a little tough. My brisket was very flavorful, very tender, and I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. Our service was very good throughout the meal and we've decided we will return to Meraki but will try a different meal the next time we're there.
What a great find - can't believe we haven't been here before. Atmosphere was great, food was amazing. Our only complaint was that our server was a bit slow and seemed rushed (not sure if she had too many tables that night).
Service was fantastic. Everyone was very friendly. Great vibe in restaurant. 1/2 portions allow more variety.
Great food and drinks. Service was extremely slow as far as getting drinks, check. Food came in a timely manner.
Meraki was a wonderful surprise for us. The menu was wonderfully diverse and it was great to have the half serving option so we could try more than just one type of food. The only thing that could be improved upon is not delivering both half servings at the same time. It resulting in one of the servings being luke-warm before it could be consumed. Otherwise, this restaurant is a gem.
Food was amazing-from veal heart to rabbit to duck, outstanding! Counter set was very educational for us as well. Staff are all over the top in friendliness, accommodating.
Wonderful evening. Was there on a Friday evening and things seemed a bit slow. Experienced the drink paired chef's menu. Fois gras opened the evening; beautifully prepared and the flavored exploded in my mouth. A mackerel brochette was next with nice flavors. I'm not a fan of oily fish but this was nicely done. Scallops with figs and carrots were perfectly done and fragrant on the palate. Move next to a taste bud overwhelming yummy pork belly. Rabbit with root vegetables was remarkable for texture and flavor. Main features wrapped up with a lamb chop dish that was perfectly done. My senses were pretty much done by now but the meat was perfect. Desert was a banana based creation. The drink pairings were spot on. This is probably the best value in a meal I have had in a long time. Service was attentive and friendly. The shef owner present a dish or two. A server in training was pleasant and non obtrusive. Will go again.
The chef tasting was amazing and more than a meal, it was an experience
The space is interesting, comfortable and inviting. You have a choice of bar or dining room seating. They off er a happy hour in the bar only which I found odd. We chose the dining room (we had a reservation but on this Thursday night it wasn't necessary.) Our server was pleasant and explained the menu options.
They boast an international menu - so you'll find brisket, duck, goat, venison and seafood along with a variety of root vegetables, salads and soups. There's also a savory Japanese pancake available. There were 3 of us and our choices included the full plate duck, half plates of roasted brisket and flounder, a cup of potato/leek soup, Hot Bread (like a 9" deep dish pizza size that proved to be very spicy) and the classic Japanese pancake (one of 3 varieties.) Dinner rolls were included. The presentation of the food was lovely and proved very tasty. We especially enjoyed the flavorful pancake. We shared a carrot cake dessert to top off the meal.
The bar area, with its view of 2nd st - was lively while the dining room was a little more staid. I found it interesting that their name is not on the building - there's an "M" that is lit on side of the building. Meraki is a Greek word for putting your soul, or essence, into your work. That they do. There's street parking and it's handicap accessible.
Thank you for your review. Although it seemed very positive, we are curious as to why only a 3-star rating? Was something wrong? Did we miss an opportunity to impress you? Please direct feedback to our GM Jessica at jessica.merakimke@gmail. Responding to one comment, our name is on the building--painted on the entire side along 2nd Street. Due to the historical architecture of our building we do not have a lit up sign in the direct front of the building, but rather on the Mineral St side.
We have come here for NYE dinner for the last 3 years and have always had an amazing experience doing the Chefs Tasting Menu. Food is delicious and unique. Service is always on-point. This year we even rang in 2020 at midnight while finishing dessert and were offered a free split of champagne. This is one of our favorite restaurants and will continue to keep this a part of our yearly tradition. Thanks, Meraki!
Excellent food and service on New Years Eve
We loved the welcome we received when we walked in the door.
Our server made sure to ask if anyone had any food allergies, which I did. She then brought back a menu showing me what was available for my allergy which is gluten.
We enjoyed our meal which consisted of the squash soup, apple fennel salad, the venison Osso Bucco and chocolate Gallette for dessert.
We will definitely go back to dine and would highly recommend Meraki.
Simply fantastic on every level. Enjoyed Happy Hour with small plates at the bar. Can’t wait to go back!
For the adventurous foodie, the Chef's Tasting Course is amazing! A full spectrum of flavors, textures and aromas. Our waitress was very attentive, on top of our beverages and full of enthusiasm in detailing our courses for us. The chef even delivered our last savory course, checking in with us to see how things were going. We were even treated to a complimentary champagne toast in honor of our anniversary! Great place to celebrate!
A very fun splurge!
Third time and once again food was great. However the service was not. It was a Thursday night with reservations at 8p. There were four or five tables occupied but Eddie was both the bartender and the server. Service was quite slow. It took twenty minutes sitting at the bar to get a drink. I don’t put all the blame on Eddie. He was a bit overwhelmed. Also we were told we needed to get our food order inTo the kitchen by 8:30 so we felt rushed. Jenifer (?) the manager popped in once but wasn’t really all that helpful as she had been the first two times. Hopefully the issues we had were an anomaly. Well he back.
Chad and his team at Meraki never fail to impress with creativity and caring. Many thanks!
We've been there many times for a pre-show bite. Wonderful variety on their menu, easy parking, great staff. Love this place!
The service was great. Our server was great at helping us select the plates she thought we'd like based on our feedback. There were a lot of choices for vegeterians and meat eaters alike. Very tasty and we would definitely like to go back.
Our server was a certified sommelier so she was very helpful in choosing wines to compliment our food choices. We were celebrating my friend’s birthday so we shared plates. We had the tempura whitefish pancake which was an interesting dish - it was tasty but different; not sure I would order it again. We also had the pickled beet salad with the tarragon vinaigrette and whipped goat cheese which was delicious. We had the scallops which was also a different dish - very light, served with a lentil and parsnip purée, mint/pea broth with tea foam. The scallops were tender and melt-in-your-mouth good. The purée got lost in the mint of the broth. The piece de resistance was the moulard duck breast with wild mushroom risotto. Fantastic! Will go back just to have this dish again. Dessert was the chocolate galette which was decadent especially with the glass of Mourvèdre that we had with it. We sat in a banquette facing the kitchen which enhanced our whole dining experience. The menu features half and full portion options so it is easy to try a number of different items. Overall, it was a really satisfying evening out.
Nice food. Interesting cocktails. Thoughtful wines. Tunes on old vinyl. An interesting place!
My wife and I ate at the chef’s bar and watched the chef’s prepare the food. We shared all of our plates with each other. The food was tremendous. It was one of the meals we can’t stop talking about. Can’t wait to go back!
