The food was delicious. No question. The staff needs to pump the breaks a bit, great service doesn’t always mean efficient service
Fantastic food delivered with exceptional service in a very unique atmosphere.
We were there during Restaurant Week, and had the special menu.
The corn soup, roll, and dessert were outstanding - great pastry chef. Thought the artic char slightly undercooked, and the plate looked a bit bland, but the flavor was delicious.
Great attention from service staff.
Great place to celebrate my sister's birthday while she was in Boston for a couple of hours. The food was delicious and the presentation carefully crafted. We went during Dine Out Boston and each got 3 courses for $35. We both got the corn soup with trout which was nicely pureed and smooth, I got the artic char, which was delicious and perfectly cooked, she got the duck confit fettuccine which was tasty but a little too salty, and we got one of each of the two desserts which were tasty but ran out of time to enjoy. While it wasn't busy, service was a bit slow, and disappointing to only have enjoyed a few bites of dessert, especially since it was beautifully crafted with many components to enjoy and we had been reminding staff we had limited time to work with. Overall it was a good experience. Anyone doing a 3-course lunch should allow for at least a couple hours. 1.3 hours wasn't enough.
Great lunch with girlfriends. Beautiful surrounds, food and service. All excellent.
Menton offers a beautiful atmosphere and lovely service. Unfortunately the food isn't anything to write home about. Portions are very dainty, and the flavors did not make up for the lack of size. Nothing remarkable especially considering how most lunch entrees were north of $30. Nice setting to impress a client with a fancy meal, but I would pass on this restaurant overall.
This was our 5th visit , and we just Love this place . I am not going to lie , we went to No 9 (as they still had tablecloths) and it did not compare at all to the outstanding service we received . We have always loved everything we ordered and the drinks too . Service is best we have experienced anywhere . Food is exciting to look at and even better to eat . I managed to ignore the lack of tablecloths , as I will not miss out on eating here for that ( but really hoping they will come back soon !
This restaurant was an incredible experience! The staff went above and beyond to ensure a good dining experience. Tasting menu was delicious, but overly filling.
A great new French restaurant in the Fort Point Seaport district. Beautifully decorated attentive staff and a twist on classic French cuisine. Highly recommend
We had a five course lunch with wine pairings. Everything was excellent! Our waiter was really superb.
Fue espectacular de principio a fin. La calidad de los platillos y los ingredientes empleados guardan un balance exquisito. La atención muy esmerada y la selección de vinos impecable.
My friends and I went for lunch during Dine Out Boston week. The food and service were fabulous and $35 for the three course meal was a excellent deal.
Went for Dine Out Boston Week. It was exciting that Menton was participating, even if it was for lunch. We did the 3-course tasting and took the wine recommendations for the entrees. In other words, we ordered one of everything on the Dine Out menu. I would go back just for the wines. The #9 white Burgundy, Menton exclusive, was outstanding and I am more of a red wine lover.
All of the food was very, very good. Perfectly prepared and presented. The outstanding dishes that I would order again and that will stay in my mind, corn soup w/smoked trout, creme fraiche & sorrel. The best ever! I could have this everyday. Fettuccine w/duck confit, roasted mushrooms & Parmesan. The homemade, fresh pasta was cooked to perfection. I order any pasta dish at Menton.
The dessert is so much better than it sounds and I would also order it again. Cheesecake w/honey, black mission figs & balsamic ice cream. What heavenly flavor. The 3 other dishes were very good, but the 3 listed were stellar. Service was perfect: attentive but not in your face.
Service and food were exceptional!
Hands-down my favorite restaurant in Boston. If I had a limitless budget I'd eat there every day.
Incredible food! Chose the Chef's Whimsy Menu, since the dishes looked incredible, and had zero regrets. The frutti di mare and the wagyu beef were outstanding, as well as the goat pasta dish... though all dishes were delicious! Top notch service as well. 10/10, would eat again (if I could afford it more!)
We had a fabulous dinner. The entrees were the stars but the cocktails and interesting desserts (not just a scoop of ice cream or some chocolate cake) were also great. We had an attentive server and the restaurant was very accommodating when we said we’d be 15 minutes late. An excellent place for a special occasion!
Good food and service but noisy. The chef whim’s is a nice way to taste different dishes.
Unforgettable experience, truly world class food and service
This is our second visit and it was just as amazing as the first. We went for dinner on our 30th anniversary and it was spectacular. We chose the Tasting Menu with the wine pairing...each course was a carefully thought out masterpiece complimented by a matching vintage. The staff was outstanding as well, providing unobtrusive but exquisite service throughout. I have yet to find a higher end restaurant in Boston...it made a special occasion absolutely fantastic!
Menton is, top to bottom, a beautiful place to dine. Dinner was more than a meal; it was an experience, which was exactly what we were looking for. The staff, first and foremost, were terrific. Our servers were knowledgeable, helpful, friendly, and not overly ambitious about up-selling us on higher-end menu items (which we went for anyway because they looked delicious). The food was spectacular. For a restaurant of this caliber, we expected the portions to be small, but instead, the food was generous in quantity, and even more so in quality. We savored every bite, and looked forward to the next ones. Thanks for an unforgettable dinner!
Food was fantastic - service was great. It was a little noisy ... though we were able to talk. The Wagyu carpaccio was awesome.
We got the tasting menu and each course was terrific. They even substituted one course for me. A night out at Menton is a big treat.
As a preface, I will say that my wife (a chef) and I have eaten at some very fine restarants all over the world and we have very little tolerance for mediocre, lazy cooking at places charging the kind of prices they charge at Menton. That said, I have little doubt that the chef/owner of Menton has eaten at as many or more top shelf restarants and knows what fine dining is supposed to TASTE like. The food we ate at Menton the other night fell far short of acceptable.
Lots of things, service and ambience for example, were Ok. But the food was decidedly mediocre and uninspiring. The pork entree I ordered was essentially some sour, unripe pieces of plum placed on top of a piece of fatty, under-seasoned, unappetizing pork. My wife's halibut was overcooked and underseasoned. Our appetizers consisted of things that were cooked and seasoned in a way that rendered them unrecognizable to even the most discerning palate...not a hint of eggplant flavor in the eggplant ravioli and if the server hadn't told us cured artichoke was the main ingredient in another, we couldn't even have placed it in a particular food group. We don't like eating stuff that that doesn't taste good or even recognizable. The dessert menu was so one note and boring, we didn't even order dessert.
You can see what the chef at Menton is TRYING to do and for that they deserve some credit. We would suggest however that they take a trip to NYC and eat at Tom Collechio's Craft to see how it supposed to be done. No lazy cooking, perfect seasoning, perfect ingredients (UNRIPE plums should never have been placed on my pork dish), and recipes that celebrate the flavor of those ingredients instead of masking them and making them unrecognizable.
Menton is an absolute favorite. This was my first lunch experience and it did not disappoint. Every bite was exquisite and the service was extraordinary.
The staff was great and made our 25 anniversary special
The service was amazing , the food was great.. and very hospitable to dietary restrictions on the tasting menu.
Thanks for a great night!
Look. It's expensive.
But it's exquisite.
It was one of the most special dining experiences I've had in my entire life.
So if you're looking for something really, really special, this is the place.
The best and most authentic French cuisine we have had aside from our second home in the South West of France. Chefs Lynch and Sousa have added an American twist of creativity to some classic ingredients. The desserts in particular, incorporated a blend of sweet & savory with creative use of herbs and nuts. Everything was presented beautifully and perfectly proportioned to enjoy multiple delicious courses. Their stunning wine list may test the wallet, but ensured equal quality and pairing for the cuisine. Will have to go back for the Chef's Whim menu paired with wines. Our server, Daniel, was exceptionally knowledgeable and delightfully entertaining. We wrapped up the evening with a quick & fun tour of the kitchen. Tout était très magnifique!
Absolutely amazing. Far surpassed our expectations. Danny was fantastic and provided us with top service and great menu picks and a wonderful wine tasting. Thank you all.
We enjoyed every bite of the food. Ambience was great as well .
Thank you for an outstanding experience again!
Staff and food are outstanding. One of the top restaurants in Boston. Maître D’ was exceptional. We’ve eaten at Menton maybe 4 times and after the first visit he remembered us.
Menton is an ideal restaurant for a celebration. We were treated wonderfully from the moment we entered, and at first, we were the only diners in the room. Soon it filled up, even though it was a week night. Still, we were treated with attention and care the entire meal - and the meal was spectacular.
Fantastic dinner with friends; celebrating our last evening in Boston together on vacation. Food was outstanding; elevated creative & special food that is not fuzzy. Spot on. We all savored the flavorful & beautiful food. A very memorable fine dining experience. Staff was very knowledge, kind & fun.
I don’t think it is a good lunch location anymore. Service was uneven even though (perhaps because) we were the only ones in the restaurant. The dessert was shockingly sparse. I think they forgot an element on the plate. We had been here before with good success, but not this last visit.
Had Menton on my list of places to try for quite a while. I was not disappointed. Excellent service. Tasting menu was fabulous. I was impressed by the creativity and quality of the ingredients. All the paired wines surprised me by how appropriate they were. Recommend highly.
We had stopped going to Menton a few years ago. The food/dining experience had gotten to "arty" for us. Recently we decided to try it again and the experience now was excellent. The service team was excellent and the food was very enjoyable for a premium night out.
The food, presentation, and service were excellent. We chose the chef's whim with wine pairing and all courses and wines were simply perfect. The staff was friendly, attentive , and knowledgeable but not over the top. It's difficult to rate this restaurant for value since if you are going there you should know it is a very pricy evening but well worth it if you like this type of cuisine and you want an experience in finest of dining.
