This was my second time going to this restaurant. The first time was wonderful. This time I went with my husband and a business associate. Totally different. The mood was set by the obnoxious, hyper waiter. He seemed annoyed by every question and request. The food was good but not amazing as I had remembered. I think that waiter spoiled the whole experience for us unfortunately.
Had Birthday celebrations with family. We were seated at chef table. Service is outstanding! Food is made to “ perfection”.

The food was fantastic and creative. Service was attentive and professional without being pretentious. I thought the atmosphere was great and I was glad to see most diners were dressed appropriately. It's not for everyday dining but I thought the pricing to be fair for the type of food being served. Great for a relaxing week end night.
I think the tasting menu is always the way to go. The food is perfect and interesting, service is impeccable but accessible. We love Menton— it’s my favorite place in Boston.
We were in the bar area which started off a little loud. (Actually just that one guy that likes the sound of his own voice.) Service started off a little odd. Spotty. Waited to place a drink order, but then evened our and all was well. Food was very good as expected. My steak was not the best piece of meat, but was cooked perfectly. Lamb tartar was the favorite of the evening.
We had a wonderful time, Chef's menu was great! Tried few house drinks and were pretty neat.

A true culinary experience. The Chef’s Whim tasting menu was out of this world. Every dish was creatively and wonderfully prepared, served alongside impeccable service. Definitely a special occasion restaurant (ended up being about $350/person) but worth it for special celebrations.
Shaky start for Valentines Day Dinner Special for Two. Overpriced even considering the Holiday special (over $600 for 2)
I made a reservation and knew I was going to be late so I called 3 times.
- First call (1 hour before my reservation): wasn't answered,
- Second call (5 minutes before my reservation): staff promised that my table would be held for 20 min max before it would be forfeited,
- Third call (18 min after my reservation and 1 min away from Menton): My table was said to still be open and will be available for me when I arrive.....
I arrived and was asked to sit at the bar. A table opened in the bar area but it was loud and no place to have a Valentine's day dinner especially when you go through the trouble of making a reservation. We ended up getting drinks (which Menton ended up paying for as a kind gesture for the wait) and waited 45 minutes until a table opened in the main space. Once seated, the food and service were incredible. We had a 7 course meal + dessert and left perfectly full, not too hungry or too full.
tl;dr: My only complaint is Menton decided to forfeit my reservation when I arrived 18 minutes late and they promised they would hold the table up to 20 minutes. I understand if they forfeited it and I didn't call since that would be considering a "no-show" but I called multiple times to notify my close arrival. They promised that my table would be available at my third call and when I arrived, none were available.
Valentines Day dinner, last minute reservation, and we had a blast! Thank you for everything!

It was a perfect choice! restaurant wonderful, loved the tasting menu, the service was very good. I have been to a Michelin starred restaurant in NY the day before where I have not received such as good service and food as I did in Menton.

We had our wedding lunch and one year anniversary dinner at Menton. Both meals were exceptional. The food was outstanding, the service was memorable, and the ambience was perfect.
Absolutely beautiful food. You can tell everything is made from the freshest ingredients and it's all cooked perfectly. As blown away by the food as I was, the staff almost topped the food for me. They were knowledgeable, friendly, attentive but not annoying or pushy. Every course came out at the perfect time. Every detail was perfect. I really can't say enough good things about the food and staff at Menton.
Really great experience from seating to check. They offered us complementary oysters and suggested good wine pairings for our cheese selection. There was a lot we didn’t know and the whole staff were very helpful and welcoming to our questions. Would return again

Overall much better compared to previous! Certainly took a note and made a number of changes. Service improved, menu much better and overall much better. A high end fine dining experience!
This is our 4th (or 5th) visit to Menton and every bit as memorable as our very first. We think of this is a true "special occasion" restaurant but with judicious choices on wines, one can afford to splurge a bit now and then. Service is top notch, the wine list is an amazing compendium of choices, the food is superb (for the eye as well as the palate). Bravo, Barbara Lynch and team.
Amazing evening with tasting menu: oysters, veal & tuna, turbot, baby artichoke, gnocchi, foie gras, braised pork, lamb loin, sorbet, chocolate. Not recommended if regret over the bill will keep you awake.
The best quality cooking I have had for ages . Scallops cooked to total perfection and then a cod dish so tasty and beautifully cooked I am still thinking of it . The staff we absolutely charming but not pushy. They gave us small taster of the lobster pasta that was incredible. The wine list is excellent and the wine we had should have cost much more.
Impeccable dining experience. Delicious, fresh food expertly prepared. Still dreaming about the beef entree, wine pairings, and macaron desserts. The chef is really attentive to dietary needs (gluten free, etc). The service is attentive and caring. The stemware is gorgeous (hand blown). And they even let me order a flower bouquet for a birthday occasion (beautifully made). Everything was simply fantastic. Can't wait to go back!
We had a fabulous first meal here , but it won’t be the last . The lighting,the service,the ambiance,and of course the fabulous food was all perfect for us . We chose off the a la carte, and it was all amazing, full of flavor,.Even the French press coffee had a depth of flavor we had never tasted before . The table was not too close to others, which is not the case in many seaport restaurants . Perfect for us, can’t wait till next date night

Simply exquisite. First time visiting and best restaurant we’ve ever been to in Boston. Every course was beautiful with interesting flavor contrasts. The room was well-lit enough to see the food!! We were very impressed with the wine pairings. Each one was spot on including classic pairings such as Sauternes with foie gras and more unusual such as white Burgundy with mushrooms and truffles. Menus change once a month so go now to enjoy February!!
First off the service was impeccable, the staff is genuinely kind and attentive. My father and I opted for the tasting menu. It was a Monday so i'll give the chef some graces on the quality of the seafood, but the opening complimentary oyster left a lot to be desired, resembled dirty ocean water and the toping of lemon ice wasn't a welcome pairing. The next two courses weren't very flavorful, They were both fish dishes. The crudo was good but only because it was fresh tasting but lacked any sort of flavor (regarding its compliments of caviar and fennel) beyond that. The tuna was far beyond it's prime and my father refused to even finish it beyond the first bite. Again, the sauces, while i agree should compliment the fish and not overpower it, offered quite literally zero flavor. Now, the fish aside, onto the meat. The celery root sformato, while a foreign consistency (similar to a custard) was amazing; surprisingly filling and loaded with beef flavors. The Maccheroni al ferro was probably my favorite, i wanted an entire bowl of it honestly. The sauce was the kind you wanted to keep and slather on anything else in a 10 foot radius. I had heard of the Foie Gras when recommended to Menton so I was excited for that, and wasn't let down! It was the perfect amount of fat without being too slimy and paired with a light toast, I didn't really need the persimmon on the plate, didn't feel necessary but I was too enamored by the Foie Gras to care. The squab breast was also really well cooked, didn't need the pork belly with it - a little dry, but the squab was perfectly tender. So by the time the veal came out, we were beyond full, that many rich meat dishes was a bold choice. The veal was also quite good but forgettable in comparison or maybe i was just tired of red meats by then but If you had given it to me as a meal i would have been floored. Overall, great food, but wish we got the a la carte for more range of food.
