Menton Ratings and Reviews
Our food was excellent as was the service. The menu is somewhat limited except for the tasting menu that appeared to be a bit too much for us to eat. We were celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary, and that was pleasantly acknowledged and we were given a short kitchen tour by the Guest Relations Manager, Maggie Scott. Ambience is veronica and modest, but noise level was a bit more than I'd expect for a high end restaurant.
Menton is a special occasion restaurant. From the arrival, each person is treated like royalty. There are special welcomes, extra treats, it is magical. In addition, the food is fabulous. The menu changes often, with seasonal choices, and delicious combinations.
I took my wife here for her birthday. We both had the 8 course fixed price menu with wine pairing. The food was incredible and most of the wine pairings enhanced the flavors we were tasting. The service was also top notch, we had multiple servers waiting on us throughout the evening. Be prepared to spend more than you have ever spent on a meal! After tip my tab was $750. Not the kind of place I can go every week, but I'm glad I had the experience.
One of the better fine dining options in Boston. Pricey (~$500 total for two of us) but worth the splurge every now and then. Much more affordable if you don't opt for the tasting menu but you'd be crazy to skip it.
Service was great. Friendly but very professional, very knowledgeable, and accommodated our every whim without hesitation.
Great late nihgt dinner location while out of town with my wife on a business trip. I just wish I had the appetite and stamina to have allowed myself to experience the tasting menu. As it was, we had to settle for a 3 course format and enjoyed every bite. The very professional non-intrusive service was the most memorable aspect of this meal.
The music was loud compared to what we are used to for this kind of fine dining place. As a result, tables were trying to talk over the music. My wife and I could barely hear each other. Quite disappointing for a birthday celebration. The service was good, but too hectic, I.e. Trying too hard to be on top of everything, creating a constant traffic, while missing on some obvious stuff. The food was good, but not out-of-this-world good for that kind of price.
Ideal place for a very important business dinner. Menton was wonderful to work with for our group of 17 in the main dining room. We chose the 4 course menu with the wine pairing. Everyone very much enjoyed it. Service and food quality outstanding. Great wines and creative cocktails. Great place for a business dinner or special occasion.
Great dinner place with impeccable service, who accommodated our requests for picking dishes off the tasting menu without making any fuss.
The venison & pheasant & clams were amazing.
The foie gras was great, though admittedly not greater than any other decent place with foie gras.
We also really enjoyed that pair of old and young monbazillac.
The blueberry tart with meringue, on the other hand was very disappointing: the texture was somewhat interesting, but the excessive sweetness overwhelmed any other taste the dessert might have had. It was not up to my expectations for such an otherwise great restaurant.
I like to judge french-style restaurants by the quality of the provided bread & butter. The bread was excellent, and the butter, made from a single cow's milk (the cow is named babette), was interesting. I didn't necessarily care for the slight cheesiness of the butter, though. Excellent but slightly cheesy — maybe a good summary indeed.
Ordered the chef’s whim menu and the timing was horrendous. It took them 2.5 hours to serve an 8-course meal. The wait between each meal is inconsistent and at some point, we had to wait for 30 minutes. This is unacceptable for $165 a plate. Also, my husband had allergy and all they did was took off the mussels from the plate without any replacement. And it took them 10 minutes to scrape this off from the plate. Totally unacceptable
Disappointed that the wait staff did not offer another bottle of great wine that we enjoyed at dinner. Food was fantastic but the portion size of entrees is a bit small. Traditional menu serving plates do not need to be the size of the tasting menu portions.
Menton was a truly memorable dining experience. Once we got past the sticker shock at the end of the night, we could honestly say this was one of finest restaurants that we've been to anywhere. From the initial greeting, and pre-dinner drink at the bar, to the service, wine selection and food choices, everything went off like clockwork. We chose the Chef's Whim tasting menu, which was fantastic. Each item on the menu was very unique and like nothing we ever had before. Each course was timed perfectly so that there was enough time to enjoy each one and ponder the next one. The wine recommendations for various courses complemented each one just right. Definitely the type of restaurant you want to go to for that special occasion, over-the-top experience.
This was our 2nd visit to Menton. I was amazed that the maitre d' remembered us. We had another fantastic experience. We had the Chef's Whim which had some very unique and interesting dishes. The service was outstanding as well. I highly recommend this restaurant for a special dining experience.
Outstanding. Food over the top wonderful. What was so nice was the pause at which it was serviced. They did not rush you at all. They were very attentive but in a quite way. Water glass kept filled but very unobtrusive It was one of the nicest restaurants the service was perfect. I would recommend this restaurant. We ordered from the alla carte menus which made it compriable to other upscale Boston fine dinning venues
