My daughter and I were there for her Birthday. I was happy to have such a great place to take her. We live in Boston and will definitely return.
Lovely dinner had the chief tasting menu and everything was perfect
Incredible. Staff was amazing. Daniel was especially attentive and knowledgeable. Food was very special.
Excellent service and delicious food. Starters were wonderful the prawns were out of this world - main meals were good bass was excellent crab pasta was mostly basil and average the desserts were amazingly presented. The attention to detail is outstanding.
Second time at the restaurant and just as great as we remembered. John is so professional and approachable and really helps make the whole experience.
From the moment we walked in the restaurant we were treated eloquently. The dining area was beautifully designed and created an amazing ambiance. The food was beyond words, each dish was amazing, but I’d love to not the Waygu carpaccio. It melted in your mouth and the cherries were a great acidic touch. Their wine selection is phenomenal! We had a smooth Oakley 2011 paulliac Bordeaux. I’ve saved the best for last, the service, each person who greeted us or simply came to pour water was simply professional. They seemed very well deserved of their jobs and I hope they continue what they’re doing for a long time. I will definitely be back!
Wonderful service and great food, truly a special evening.
Brilliant service and amazing good dishes! This is a true blue Boston culinary institution.
Certainly not an inexpensive option but the food was outstanding. Excellent choice for celebrating a special night or just an indulgent treat for yourself.
Birthday- truly amazing, can’t wait to return
Very good restaurant. Service by all was perfect from the first minute to the end. The restraurant has a fantastic wine liste. The food was exquiste. Their choice of breads is something...
I look forward to returning to Boston to go back to Menton.
Everything and everyone was top notch. Extremely friendly and courteous. A wonderful experience!
We really enjoyed the tasting menu with the wine pairing. It was unique and beautifully plated. We added the cheese course which was amazing. Our server was superb.
My wife and I have been planning on coming here for years, so we were both very excited when we finally made the reservation. I’m not sure if I caught them on a bad day or what, but the service was disappointing. It was almost as though the B team was working. Plates weren’t cleared, waitress wrote our order down on paper, little knowledge on wine pairings, bread served after first course, etc. I consider myself a foodie and have been when you go out to eat at a 3 Michelin star restaurant, you expect a certain level of service. I knew we wouldn’t be getting that right off the bat, when a few tables down from us, a family of four with two young boys, were at their table playing video games on their iPhones. Menton is a fancy date night out for couples. Not a family restaurant like Denny’s. Anyway, the tasty food didn’t make up for the lack of service. I’d rather go to @tastingcounter again than Menton.
The restaurant space is lovely, the green tea ice cream that accompanied the mango vacherin had a medicinal tinge. Overall, it was a splendid evening and we commend the chef and the staff for this marvelous restaurant.
We first came here the night we were engaged, everything was incredible. Three years later (tonight) we came for my birthday and again, incredible. We always opt for the chef’s whim, if we’re going to Menton, we’re doing it right. It was a much different tasting menu but it was grear. The real star of the event, the service at Menton. The hostesses, servers and Somm wait on you like I’ve never experienced before. Every single person wished me a happy birthday.
Also, they have amazing candles in both bathrooms. A-mazing.
Exceptional service and food. For a special occasion his is the place to go. To propose marriage to your partner. To treat yourself after a really great random act of kindness. I look forward to trying all the sister restaurants around Boston.
Exquisite experience-Service is attentive yet not intrusive. Our meals were magnificent from the presentation to the taste. Best Boston restaurant experience in a long time
Did the tasting menu and found that there were too many rich courses in a row.
Pork Belly, Foie Gras then a pasta course with cheese followed by lamb. Wish there was at least one lighter course instead of all that fatty food! Service was great though and they made the evening special. Food was very good although my cardiologist wasn't pleased with me!
Superb!!! from start to finish Menton was amazing. We had the Crudo, the ravioli, the spaghetti and then the Bass. Kitchen split the dishes so we could try more things, presentation was kept intact. All the food was fresh and delicious! Great wine list, and desserts were delicious! would highly recommend! (smaller things like water service and bread were also amazing!)
Wait staff also super knowledgeable and recommended some great choices.
It was the first time I took my son... he loved it!
We were exceptionally pleased with the chef’s tasting menu. It was well paced and we were able to enjoy it while still making it to the theater for a 8 pm show. John our waiter and sommelier was very helpful at matching wine to the menu. We will definitely be returning I the future.
Amazing service and great food.
Wonderful meal from beginning to end! Superb food and they also have an excellent and interesting wine list...
Get the Chef's Whim tasting menu, with the wine pairings. The Exec Chef and others who set the menu are incredible, bringing a much needed novelty to Boston's occasionally formulaic haut cuisine scene. It is a positively symphonic experience.
It was amazing! Danny was such an incredible server and made our night so special. The chefs tasting menu included some of the best food I had ever had.
Outstanding meal. Went for our anniversary and it was a wonderful experience. The food is delicious, they take extra care with allergies / dietary restrictions, and their service is incredibly attentive. Expensive for sure, but worth it for a special occasion. We’ll definitely be back!
This was an out of town business dinner for me, so I did not know what to expect. The food and ambiance were very good and the service was impeccable. The waiter seemed to know when to stay away while we were deep in discussion and seamlessly refill wine glasses almost unnoticed. The noise level was very low, perfect for having in-depth discussions and being able to hear the conversation. I would highly recommend.
Chef's Whim tasting menu was fantastic. The service was absolutely impeccable. Noise level was quite high but as night wore on got better. Lady with the ridiculously loud laugh, get a clue, seriously.
Wine pairings were spot on , but huge price for dinner for two with only ONE wine pairing was $592.00 with tip , yikes . If only I could eat like this every day of my life.
Delicious, creative and well plated food. Wonderful and informative service. Comprehensive wine list that included half bottles. Valet parking available. Steps required to enter restaurant. A very enjoyable experience.
We had gone to Menton many, many years ago when it first opened and had the chef‘s tasting menu with wine pairings. The wines were from truly exotic countries and were awful. As a result, we had not been back and went to L’Espalier for special occasions. With the closing of L’Espalier we decided to give Menton a second chance and we were very glad we did. The food was excellent (but a little short of spectacular) and the service was exceptional. Thankfully, the wine pairings with the chef‘s tasting menu were from countries known for their wine production and were generally quite good.
Only issue was they ran out of toilet paper in the woman's room!!
We ordered the escargot and foie gras for appetizers and the lamb as main course. They were delicious and creatively prepared in terms of seasoning. Deserts were lovely as well.
This was our second trip to Menton and sadly it did not meet our expectations. Our first experience was memorable and perfect. This second trip was lackluster. The service was not even close to our first experience. Food was delicious and my wine outstanding but we will not make a third trip.
A disaster! We went for our 30th Anniversary (in town visiting our daughter). We’d been twice before and had truly great meals. Unfortunately, our experience this time was far below expectations. While the food concepts were mostly excellent, only two courses were up to par in taste and presentation. And the service was exceptionally bad. Our waiter was surly, inexperienced and completely overwhelmed. We asked for the sommelier to help choose a special burgundy. Never appeared. The waiter made a recommendation of two but didn’t know the difference between them. We bought an expensive bottle on feel. We had a forty minute wait between the fourth and fifth course. Hello?! No waiter. No wine, no food. Then he ran over with a cheap Syrah apologizing that he wasn’t authorized to open a better bottle by the glass. Then we had the last course. Another 20 minutes pass. He comes and asks if we wanted our check. We ask about our desserts. He says oh, they haven’t brought them yet? Sorry I’ve been overwhelmed by walk-ins. It seemed like the management was AWOL. If this dinner is the new normal at Menton, things are seriously out of sorts.
We were upgraded from bar seating to dining room seating because they had the space. We had not requested that, so it was a nice surprise. The only reason I do not give the food five stars is that two items were overly salty. The chef must be a smoker! The wine steward was very knowledgeable and actually gave us information about the winery which produced our wine, having been there himself. Wonderful experience overall.
The service was outstanding and food was very good. My only gripe was the Chef's Whim menu was meat course after meat course. The wine pairings were spot on though!
Simple elegance. The restaurant was immaculate, and everyone from the bartender to the woman passing out bread was so friendly and professional. We had burrata with asparagus, lamb loin, and the chef made me an entree from the halibut that was on the tasting menu. Meyer lemon pudding and rhubarb and honey desserts. Everything was prepared perfectly, and we enjoyed every mouthful! The service was wonderful! Perfect restaurant to celebrate our anniversary! A definite 5 star from us!!
It was excellent, food was perfect and the service was the best!
