Excellent food and wine as well as service
Menton is pricey but if you go at lunchtime and don't drink, it is a fabulous value. The dining room is lovely and understated, the service is top rate and the food was delightful to look at and delicious to eat. I was there for a post-Christmas ladies' luncheon and was so pleased with the Menton experience that I hope it will become an annual tradition.
I was looking forward to trying Menton's after hearing such good things about it. We went there mid-week. Although I wouldn't say anything really negative about it, there are other restaurants that I prefer. The servers were very nice, and the food was good, but not exceptional. Portions were small. Overall I'm glad I tried it, but I wouldn't go back.
The expectations were high for Menton but sadly were not completely met. We were two New Englanders and two New Yorkers (all foodies with worldwide restaurant experience) out for a post holiday special night out. The service was average as waiters and bread servers reached in front of our chests to plate bread, pour water, etc. Our waitress seemed somewhat annoyed both at our questions and when we had different requests for wine pairings (we didn't pair formally, we just paired by course individually). She left and returned to the table briskly making it difficult to have some requests met. The first course of pumpkin salad was uneventful, bland and had too much cheese. Second courses of pasta were better with the cavatelli being better than the lobster ravioli. The third courses were the beef entrecote and the pork dish which were good with the beef being the better of those two. This food was ok, don't get me wrong, but it doesn't live up to the reputation that it touts. If it were served somewhere else, it would be just fine, but here it seems to not be the level that perhaps it once was when the restaurant opened. We have eaten at No. 9 Park and would return there before returning here. The ambience is lovely especially the booths along the walls. FYI we didn't request special seating and because of that we were sat right in front of the kitchen door and we requested to move and the request was honored to a slightly better table but not a booth (interestingly that lousy table stayed empty all night yet the hostess staff chose to initially put us there instead of a better table).
Chef’s tasting was good but wasn’t blown away.
Pre-Christmas luncheon. While we had no specific complaints, we came away feeling that the experience was just fair and that this restaurant has fallen back on its laurels. The service felt uncoordinated especially as the afternoon wore on. Server's uninforms were stained, dirty glassware on the bar. The food lacked spark.
This restaurant needs attention to bring it back to previously higher standards.
The food is good but the plating is terrible
It was absolutely exceptional! Definitely going back! The greatest cheese cart/assortment we've had!!
It is difficult to give this review as the overall experience was great, the food was great, the atmosphere was great, everything was great except for one thing. The room is very nice, my back was to the room so I didn't enjoy it as much as my wife but it was lit, enough, not too loud but not too quiet, nice dark woods. It created a nice atmosphere for eating. We decided to go with three courses each + we shared a desert. We each had different courses and shared. Every bite was great. Some dishes were more savory than others, one ravioli dish (Lobster) was a little too much on the lemon, but delicious. Really great. After our desert we paid the check and the waitperson brought over a plate with small bites. Not uncommon at this type of restaurant. One item on the plate was a macaron. We both love Macarons so we decided to eat them last. They were both stale. It was the last thing I put in my mouth at Menton and it was a stale Macaron. I've had far too many in my life so I'm pretty sure we know what we were eating. It could have possibly been frozen and then served, either way not at all fresh and was the last experience of an overall great meal. And they gave it to us, you would think when you spend this kind of money at a restaurant these types to things are top of mind. UGH, I was so disappointed. I know this sounds trivial but fine dining is an experience, a build. They missed the mark at the last moment. I'd still recommend Menton to any foodies that are willing to break the bank a bit.
We loved the tasting menu. Very interesting dishes, beautiful presentation, great pace. The service was outstanding. Our server John was fabulous, he was very attentive and made our evening memorable.
Outstanding creative cuisine. Everything had great flavor without being heavy. The Chef's Whim menu was a terrific way to sample a range of exciting small dishes. The price is very high but the overall experience superb.
Service was amazing, starters were very good, although the sweet cookie like bread served with the fois gras was not to our liking. Main courses were okay, my fish was a little over cooked. Lovely space. Charming front of house staff!
Fantastic spot. Delicious food, impeccable service, amazing wines.
The "Chef's Whim" was fantastic, but pricey. Well worth it.
Service Rushed - My halibut over done.🤔No 9 Park better overall
Have to say, was pretty dissapointed that they had no spiced rum. That threw me from the start
So much more than just “dinner,” it was a memorable dining experience we will not soon forget. The service made us feel like royalty. From graciously making adjustments to our reservation when we had a unexpected issue arise last minute to delivering a final cadeau of treats to send us off on a sweet note, the combination of food, service, and ambiance offered the grace and elegance reminiscent of fine dining of the past— something I had never experienced in our modern era. Our server, Annie, was professional and knowledgeable about both the menu and the extensive wine and beverage list. Working with the talented chefs in the kitchen, they crafted a customized menu to accommodate my (many) dietary restrictions and still take us on a delectable culinary adventure.
Had chef’s tasting menu with wine pairing. A course or two too many but everything was well prepared
Just the noise level made for a lot of repeat "sorry, what was thats" compounding English is her third language = otherwise everything was great
This was my first time at Menton and let me say that it truly lived up to its reputation. Many friends have mentioned how incredible the food is so I had very high expectations, and it most certainly surpassed those expectations. Bravo.
Took my friend for her birthday. The service was excellent.
Fantastic, imaginative food paired with lovely service.
An amazing experience! Love it!!!!
Our food was excellent as was the service. The menu is somewhat limited except for the tasting menu that appeared to be a bit too much for us to eat. We were celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary, and that was pleasantly acknowledged and we were given a short kitchen tour by the Guest Relations Manager, Maggie Scott. Ambience is veronica and modest, but noise level was a bit more than I'd expect for a high end restaurant.
We all felt the quality of the food and wine pairing was far below expectations for an establishment of this level. Compared to other experiences we have had in Boston this rates very low. I hope this was just a case of an off night
Simply Fabulous. Flawless cuisine, wine pairings and service. For finest dining not inexpensive but worth every penny.
Menton is a special occasion restaurant. From the arrival, each person is treated like royalty. There are special welcomes, extra treats, it is magical. In addition, the food is fabulous. The menu changes often, with seasonal choices, and delicious combinations.
I took my wife here for her birthday. We both had the 8 course fixed price menu with wine pairing. The food was incredible and most of the wine pairings enhanced the flavors we were tasting. The service was also top notch, we had multiple servers waiting on us throughout the evening. Be prepared to spend more than you have ever spent on a meal! After tip my tab was $750. Not the kind of place I can go every week, but I'm glad I had the experience.
The best experience so far in boston.
Amazing food and incredible service. A top 5 meal of all time!!
Always a great experience. My wife enjoys this special experience for special occasions and since is was her birthday I chose to take her to Menton. As expected, it was a terrific experience and she completely enjoyed her special occasion.
This is an amazing restaurant. Impeccable service. Top notch food. Seasonal menu.
Needed lighter features and more acidity to cut the heaviness of the tasting menu. Wish it was more seafood focused. Def do a la carte here.
Online menu accurate. Exquisite food prep. Had both gnocchi Bolognese and tortolloni w quail ragu- outstanding! Highly recommended.
One of the better fine dining options in Boston. Pricey (~$500 total for two of us) but worth the splurge every now and then. Much more affordable if you don't opt for the tasting menu but you'd be crazy to skip it.
Service was great. Friendly but very professional, very knowledgeable, and accommodated our every whim without hesitation.
The food offering were unusual. The dinner was delicious (salmon). The food and service were phenomenal and made the occasion that much more special.
Great late nihgt dinner location while out of town with my wife on a business trip. I just wish I had the appetite and stamina to have allowed myself to experience the tasting menu. As it was, we had to settle for a 3 course format and enjoyed every bite. The very professional non-intrusive service was the most memorable aspect of this meal.
Too loud but then it was saturday evening. Next time I will choose a quieter spot
