Menton Ratings and Reviews
This was overall an incredible experience. Menton took care of everything down to the smallest detail( happy birthday to my boyfriend on the menu). We went for my boyfriend's birthday and ordered the chefs tasting. Our servers were quite knowledgeable and made great cocktail suggestions. Bravo to the chefs. Each course was better than the next. We can't wait to go back!
We booked Menton to celebrate the graduation of our son's girlfriend as part of a weekend trip to Boston. The whole evening was a huge success. We were very well looked after by the staff - and even when our cocktails were delayed they were made complimentary. The tasting menu and accompanying wines were outstanding - pretty much every course was a hit. The Maitre D was knowlegeable and friendly and when he picked up on Katie's university in the U.K. and presented her with a box of chocolates with a note with the crest of her college printed on it the evening was made! We took a leisurely four hours over the meal and it was an occasion we will remember for a long time.
It was a good experience. However, maybe because we expected too much, the experience was just good (aka not great). I like most of the food there, and the waiters/waitresses were always there to help. However, my colleagues didn't feel the main waiter friendly enough to our table. Maybe we were not used to the posh environment there, and maybe that's usually how a high-end restaurant usually treat their customers.
We decided on Menton for my birthday and we were not disappointed! The restaurant is elegant and lovely; a different look than No. 9 Park which we had gone to previously. There were little touches that I loved-the menu had Happy Birthday at the top, every person who came our table wished me Happy Birthday-it really made the evening special!
And the food...we did the chef's tasting with the wine pairings and it was easily the best meal I have ever had (and that includes my 40th birthday at Gordon Ramsey's restaurant in the Savoy in NYC. Amazing presentation, flavors and experience throughout. Cannot say it enough...this is a meal that I will long remember!! Can't wait to go back🙂
We've been meaning to try out the flagship Menton for quite some time. Fine dining for sure, lovely service, nice drinks, great atmosphere. The food was good, but not very memorable. We decided to do a-la-cart, everything looked visually amazing but was very small. The couple bites the dishes were, were good, but things were almost too creative for my taste (the lasagna was hardly lasagna). Overall experience was fancy, nice, fun to do for a special occasion, but not so much if you want a memorable meal.
The food was amazing and the service was impeccable. The tasting menu with the matching wines was an incredible experience that we will talk about for years! We went for a celebration and the staff made us feel very special. In reading the reviews, it seemed the only people who were not happy were those who wanted to dash in for a quick meal and be off again. The cuisine here is true art that requires hours of prep. Your job as the customer is to sit back, relax and enjoy the amazing results. If you can do that, we highly recommend this place.
We were there this past Sat. for our 31st wedding anniversary. Actually flew into Boston in large part to celebrate at Menton. Absolutely no disappointments. They were aware of our occasion and sat us at a nice quiet table where we enjoyed an absolutely wonderful evening. Jonathan and Simon were gracious and attentive as was the entire staff. The food was just excellent as was the wine.
We enjoyed the tour of the kitchen and meeting sous chef and other staff members.
We plan to make it a point to visit again, and again and again.
We celebrated Mother's Day by enjoying the 5 course tasting menu with wine recommendations. Each course was beautifully presented and filled with nuanced flavors which married quite well with the wine. As the woman of the moment, I felt indulged. Thank you for a memorable evening.
I booked the restaurant due to the reputation of the best restaurant in Boston. It happened to be mothers' day, so the menu selection was only two.
We had five course plus cheese plate before the dessert.
The portion was rather small, but it made us fully enjoy the entire course.
We loved everything about this place! The service was excellent but not obtrusive. We took our waiters recommendation and had the best octopus we have ever tasted. Ditto for my husbands quails. Even the bread and butter were exceptional.. The wine list was large and top notch as well. Portions were not huge but made up for it in flavor. We would love to return.
Another wonderful Barbara Lynch restaurant. My son and I celebrated an early Mother's Day with the chefs tasting menu. Each course was a work of art. The butter soup was unbelievable. Can't say enough about what a special place this is. Service was outstanding as well.
While we were the only group in the dining room, the food, while plated almost perfectly (but not quite) lacked flavor—literally had no flavor whatsoever. The china was quite worn, maybe from catering. Service sterile and slow. This is not a 5 star establishment by any means; makes me rethink choosing Relais & Chateaux. The accreditations do not match the locale. We won't be back nor recommend. A very disappointing Boston dining experience.
Splurged on the tasting menu for an anniversary dinner, which turned into an engagement dinner between the last entree and the dessert! The food was incredible -- creative tastes, textures, and presentation. They were very willing to adapt the tasting menu to some dietary preferences, and even the palate cleansers were amazing! The staff were wonderfully attentive, accommodating, and knowledgeable (without being annoying or pretentious), and they eagerly conspired with my new fiancee when he wanted to pop the question but had to move the table out of the way first. A memorable night all around. Thank you, Menton!
A fantastic foodie experience. Worth the trip from anywhere. Very attentive waitstaff. We had two out of 6 diners with food allergies/sensitivities and the kitchen was able to accommodate beautifully. The Chef's menu with the wine pairing is not to be missed.
