Menton Ratings and Reviews
It was one of the best restaurants I've ever been to. The food is like art. The service is perfect. It was a very pleasant experience. I recommend this place for special occasions. They ask once you sit on the table if you're there for a special occasion and they prepare a surprise celebration with the dessert which was very elegant.
We went to Menton to celebrate our anniversary. Yes - it was expensive, but well worth it to us. We splurged on the Chef's Tasting Menu with one set of wine pairings. The meal was beautifully planned with 3 amuse bouche sized appetizers leading to a series of vegetable and fish tastings. The meal culminated with an amazing rib eye with mouth watering sauce followed by fabulous desserts. In perfect balance, the meal ended with 3 small delicious dessert bites. The wine pairings were fun, informative and really enhanced the food. Since I was not doing the wine pairings, they provided me with a small glass of white and red at the right points in the meal to enjoy over several tastes. Service was excellent and every bite was memorable.
We had the 4 course menu- whilst it didn't quite match the consistent creativity and explosion of flavours we have had at other places in NY and back home, the food was still memorable and substantial, and just when I thought we couldn't fit anymore food in, the various mignardises kept rolling out surpassing our expectations. They had an excellent selection of cheese and wines - our waitress was so knowledgeable, and for the very first time, I actually enjoyed the taste of some red wine. Overall, it was a nice experience and a highlight of our Boston trip this far.
There is no doubt that this restaurant is extraordinarily expensive but despite that you leave feeling so well taken care of, so nurtured and fed so exceptionally well you won't look back. The food is wonderful. The dishes and extra tastes are playful and a delight to the taste buds. The wine pairing accents all that is good in each dish. Oh what a night.
Went here to celebrate our wedding anniversary and we weren't disappointed. Everything was perfect! The service was exceptional and not overly done to make it awkward. The food was fabulous. We did the four course menu and found that to be just the right amount. The cheese substitution for dessert was fantastic as well.
We enjoyed a wonderful anniversary dinner here for our first visit. The service was outstanding, the food was excellent with a creative menu, and the ambiance was wonderful. The staff was so attentive, and even stopped by our table to ask if we would like them to get our car from valet parking after we had finished dinner and dessert. They even had our items from coat check ready and waiting for us as we left. The food was excellent - we both ordered the prix fixe menu, and everything was wonderful, with creative combinations for each dish. Each dish was explained (ingredients, preparation) as it was brought out, which was very helpful. The pace was just right without feeling rushed or waiting too long between dishes. Highly recommend!
Had the tasting menu, which was outstanding - as good as the 1/2 star Michelin restaurants I have eaten at. The wine pairings were also excellent, enhancing the food in every case. The service matched the food in quality. Expensive, yes, but a taste sensation for a special occasion with wine and food portions well judged to leave you full and happy, but not bloated and dazed!
The food was amazing! The chef gave us some special treats and wrote congratulations on our desserts when they found out we were on our honeymoon. The servers were awesome and very helpful, making us feel very comfortable even though we don't usually go to places this nice.
Menton exceeded my expectations handily. I visit fine dining locations regularly (e.g. at least twice a week) and rarely find a meal to be truly exceptional and memorable. My dinner at Menton was both of these things. The ambiance of the restaurant is very appropriate--quiet and intimate without being stuffy. The waitstaff were very knowledgeable and took the time to explain each of the dishes and the wines they selected to pair with our meal. The food was exceptional. Each person at my table enjoyed each of their dishes, which I find to be a rare treat when doing a 4 course dinner at fine dining establishments. I can't wait to go back!
We enjoyed the Chef's Tasting which was a pleasant surprise in each of the 7 courses. Based on a short discussion with our lead server, each of us had food prepared to our individual tastes and therefore somewhat different. Presentation was as much fun as the food itself and everything was served promptly by a very knowledgable staff. It was the greatest dining expereince we've had.
Beyond fabulous. The food, the service, the fun. I cannot find the words. The surprise for me was how attentive the servers were, but with a sense of humor - not at all pretentious nor stuffy. My only complaint was that some of other diners came dressed for
a cook-out, not a gastronimc experience. Come on folks, put on a nice shirt and some shoes.
With varying reports from friends, I wasn't sure what to expect. I'm pleased to say Menton exceeded all expectations. The decor is notably spare, but that focuses attention on the food and its presentation. Kudos too for the choice of glassware, which was truly lovely. Service is professional and warm, a combination typically lacking in a resto of this caliber. This is the type of place where one need only think of something and it appears. Food was thoughtfully conceived and beautifully presented. All in all, the type of place I would feel comfortable bringing any special guest. Top notch from start to finish.
We went for our 30th anniversary to Menton. Everything about the experience was terrific. The service was the finest we have ever experienced, the food was outstanding, the acoustics and ambience were perfect, and they have wonderful champagne. It was a great way to celebrate a special occasion.
Dinner at Menton was one of the very best I've ever had, whether on business, holiday or personal special occasion. The Chef's Tasting menu with paired wines was foodie nirvana -- rare and delicious ingredients crafted into gems like "French white asparagus, with White Sturgeon Caviar, Grapefruit and Chive Blossom" or "Seared Foie Gras de Canard, with milk & honey puree, pomegranate"... All presented beautifully (no lonely, tiny bits on vast white plates) The service staff is wonderful -- our series of servers were very knowledgeable yet approachable, helping us seek out and appreciate the special attributes of each dish. Menton is an "it" place now, but there's not a whiff of "trendy for trendy sake" here. We simply loved it.
Fabulous evening with attention to every detail. Staff was very thoughtful. They went the extra mile..Before we left, the waitress brought us a beautifully wrapped package of one of the olive preparations that my son had raved about...Definitely a great place to celebrate a special occasion!!
Loved everything about Menton, except the inability to order a la carte. You either choose one item from three choices for each of four courses for $95 or do a tasting menu where you are given only a list of ingredients (more expensive). The food was superb. Tasty and artfully presented. Service was top rate. Loved the complimentary cheese cart. We'll go back on special occasions.
The pricey menu here may have you thinking that it's hoity-toity fancy food that leaves you hungry, but you'd be mostly wrong. The food is definitely fancy as well as beautifully conceived and plated, but after the 4 course prix-fixe and few small bites to begin and end, I was happily stuffed. Standout dishes were the squab, RI tautog, butter soup, and passion-fruit ice. Also a nice cheese selection for those cheesey people out there. John our server was friendly and knowledgeable, not at all hoity-toity. The other staff from the hosts to food runners were spot-on in timing and professionalism. The atmosphere was light and joyful, the decor pristine. I only wish I had more special occasions to celebrate at Menton!
One of the most adventurous and enjoyable dining experiences we have ever had. The food was creative and fantastic, and served with a side of humor. The wine list s expansive. The treats never stopped. It is the perfect place for a romantic dinner or special occasion. Foodie must see!
The food was amazing, and the overall experience was excellent. Our waitress did a great job of staying on top of our needs, and the entire waitstaff was attentive and helpful. Besides the menu items we ordered, we were surprised by all of the small bites that kept coming from the kitchen. A special touch was a greeting at our table by the owner, Barbara Lynch. All in all, well done, and we highly recommend Menton.
