Menton is quite possibly one of the most sublime dining experiences. Where is their Michelin star? It is that great! Bravo (as always)!!
our 4th time in menton. Got worse. portions are very small, $56 red-legged partridge main dish has a piece of shrapnel in it and was dry and didn't taste fresh. Directed my attention to staff and got complimentary dessert and free cocktails. Service was nice though.
We did the chefs tasting with wine pairing. It was a bit pricey but the food was spectacular! Service was perfect and very professional! Wine pairing was a great variety and well paired. Will definitely be coming back!
Superb cuisine and wonderful service in relaxed atmosphere. One of the best dining experiences I have had as there were so many unique and fine tasting experiences. I think my Montreal friends and clients, well versed in art of fine cuisine truly appreciated this gem.
Don’t miss this gem of a fine dining experience while in Boston. We have recently eaten at several Michelin rated restaurants which don’t come close to Menton in terms of a memorable night. While not cheap, the 7 course Chef’s Whim tasting was excellent, and the fact that they allowed substitutions from the a la carte menu made it even more enjoyable. The setting and service also added to the positive experience, and wine list was exceptional.
I should start by saying that prior to this dining experience at Menton, I had dined last at Menton 3 years ago, so I'm comparing my experience based on that. I would say that while the food was okay, it wasn't great. Under the previous chef the food was great.
The atmosphere is better now, not as stuffy as it once was, but I didn't find the seating as comfortable and if we're going to be paying between $500 and $1000 for dinner I expect it to be special. Perhaps I'm showing my age, but I'm looking for a special experience where people are prepared to dress up for the occasion, not turn up in short sleeves or jeans!
Going back to the food. While there was nothing wrong with any of the courses we ate. We had opted for the chefs tasting menu, we found the food lacked flavor.
In short, I expect high end restaurants today are struggling to get a new generation into their establishments. It's a notoriously tough business to be in. As a result they have relaxed their dinning experience, but for us the food didn't live up to the previous chef, so won't be returning. I just wish I had remembered the previous chefs name so I could search where he is now working, because that would be where I would be heading for my next meal.
Just Ok; def not worth the value. We came here a couple of years ago for the first time and it was an amazing experience. However, we shouldn’t have tried to replicate it because this was big let down. Very disappointed for the second go around....
High expectations were not met. We had the regular (not truffle) tasting menu. The food was artfully presented, well-prepared, and tasty. BUT: overall it was lacking creativity and zest. For a tasting menu, we expected more variety and spunk. All very delicious and ordinary. And expensive. Service was flawless.
Menton is an elevated dining experience. Their hosts/servers and somms are all highly trained, focused on detail and interact like a ballet troupe. The restaurant decor is an interesting mix of cool and warm, with generously sized and spaced tables and chairs. The food is interesting and delicious, with a wine list that is world class.
Menton is one of the nicest restaurants I’ve been to in Boston. The food and service are second to none. It is a wonderful restaurant for any special occasion, or if you just feel like indulging yourself.
Best ambiance, service and food I've ever had. The chefs whim was to die for. Would recommend this over and over!
Food and service were wonderful. The staff went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and enjoying the evening.
A "client worthy" restaurant. The food is superb. The size of the dinning room is just right. The tables are over sized, thus creating space between you and other patrons. Service is high end. One of the top three wine lists in Boston. If the dinning room is half full conversation is intimate. If it is three quarters full it is vibrant without being deafening. The cost is high, but if you desire great food in a terrific setting name another Boston restaurant that delivers excellent value for the money.
A great meal and wonderful service
John was so amazing and so helpful! Food was delicious.
Delicious food, great presentation, amazing dessert, impeccable service for the most part. Good choice for a special occasion.
The food and the service was good until we ordered dessert. It never came!!!
I had to get up and chase down a server to get the bill. No apology was given.
They were less then half full at the time.
We've enjoyed Menton a number of times. This time, not so much. Everything was super until it was time for the main course, for which we waited, and waited and waited. We had bought an expensive bottle of Italian wine to enjoy with dinner but it was essentially gone by the time the main course finally arrived. The waitstaff apologized a number of times, but the bloom was off the rose. We'll probably give it another try at some point, but this trip was a disappointment.
Menton was a fabulous pick for our one quick night in Boston. We ordered a la carte, but would have loved to try the Chef's Tasting Menu. Food and service was outstanding!
A very disappointing experience with a tasting menu not very original. Overall a lot of creamy dishes and not very original. We made the mistake to choose the white truffles which cost 120 dollars the 5gr. We got to have the remaining of an already shaved truffles which had very little taste. We could not finish our dishes and had to take some of it back home.
Service was very poor yet very kind and friendly staff but some of them poorly trained crossing the table and your plate to put the new silver at many occasions. The manager whom we know always very nice indeed.
Overall a 720 plus final bill. An overly expensive dinner not worth it. For that kind of money you can have a 3 stars Michelin in Paris for way more original and better food. We left very disappointed.
Exclusive and elegant. Discreet and bespoke. This was a special dining experience.
Excellent Meal!. The food could not have been better. We were celebrating a Birthday and everyone raved about their food when we were done. The waitstaff were some of the best I have seen (especially John)
Little on the pricey side but definitely worth it.
First visit. Great food -- and great service. We sat in the bar area and next time would reserve main dining area, but definitely a great spot.
We were tremendously disappointed in the food, the service and the ambiance.
The food was fine but not anywhere near exceptional in preparation or presentation. We ordered the tasting menu and the first course was inelegantly placed in front of us before we even had a chance to order our dinner wine. We asked that the rest of the meal be brought after we had ordered our wine... which meant now very long gaps between courses. We appreciate the pacing of a tasting menu to table is an art but an expensive restaurant ( we paid 600 dollars including wine for two) simply has to be better than this. Staff is poorly trained, reaching in front of rather than standing behind to place new flatware for example. The decor was kind of cool but all the hard surfaces made the table of business people across the room sound like they were seated, shouting, at our table. I wouldn’t recommend, won’t go back.
Great food, amazing service ! Menton did not disappoint! In my humble opinion would get 3 Michelin ⭐️ s
I cannot say enough good things about Menton. The service was incredible - our server was extremely kind and helpful in picking out wine and food and all the staff went above and beyond. Everything was delicious. Great place to celebrate a special occasion! Highly recommend!
Wonderful food pleasantly served. Very professional staff!
Menton has an exceptional kitchen and wait staff with inventive and delicious creations and overall wonderful service from the experienced and knowledgeable servers. I only wish the appetizer portions were larger as the food is so very delicious!
Phenomenal food and service
Excellent food and exceptional service by Danny. Well done
Everything was great! Service was impeccable. Food was really good but didn’t give me the WOW until the dessert.
Finest restaurant in the city by FAR! Proposed to my fiancé! Absolutely perfect! Nothing else can compare!!! Thank you Menton!!!!
Incredible. Once again quiet dinner date with my partner became memorable event. Food as always exceeded expectations. Service and attention to detail is impeccable. Going to Menton is like watching olympic athletes - highly skilled at superior level making everything seem so easy . Chef Lucas delivers incredibly delicious food , everyone in restaurant working as seamless, well synchronized team. Not only you get amazing food but you also feel great from beginning to end , whether or not you enjoy fancy dining. And it is the place you are willing to try to eat scallop and duck for the first time in your life and not regretting it. Can't wait for another date night with my partner.
Dinner was delicious! John George made the entire experience fun and memorable from amuse bouche to dessert!
Wife and I celebrated our anniversary here. It was a special night out. We were given glasses of champagne after waiting excessively long initially for menus/service. We did the chef's menu and we're very satisfied.
Excellent service and good as usual. Thank you for the tour of the chef’s table room for our friends.
We did the chefs tasting menu, 3 out of 6 dishes were outstanding but the others just good. Also the portion size is on the small side, which is fine if you are getting the wine pairing, but otherwise you will still be hungry at the end. The really good dishes were the foie gras, corn risotto, and lamb filet. Also the parker house roll was really good but all other breads are served cold which is not my preference. They were really good about following allergy restrictions and service was outstanding.
Amazing experience - took my son (a chef) there for his 26th birthday and the whole evening was incredible. The food, the service, everything from start to finish was perfect. Sure it's expensive but for the top of the line in Boston, totally worth it.
We were celebrating a birthday. When I made the reservation I noted that my wife was a vegetarian and asked if could accommodate this. When we arrived our server already knew about my request and offered us several alternatives. Throughout our meal the service was extremely professional but also very pleasant. Each dish we ordered was was excellent and included a couple of complimentary small dishes too. We were extremely satisfied with the entire experience at Menton and are looking forward to a return visit soon.
Had been here many years ago. Was underwhelmed by our meal. Food was still good. Unfortunately we were expecting more creative and unique dishes. We had the Chef’s whim meal. Definitely a significant let down from our previous experience years ago.
