We have never been treated better at any other restaurant in Boston area before. The food was as outstanding as Menton’s service.
Thank you for a wonderful dinner to celebrate a family Birthday. Service and food was top notch, hospitality is unrivaled. Every need was anticipated and our parents were blown away. Big thanks to Jake and Matt for going above and beyond to create a flawless and unforgettable evening!
Menton was a lovely experience, but not quite perfect. The food and service were quite strong, but there was just something about it that didn't quite meet the price point. Maybe it was that the tables were so close - we could hear our neighbors' conversation with uncomfortable ease. It might be that the cocktails were good, but not spectacular. But in general, it was pretty stellar. The appetizers and entrees were delicious and well prepared. We'll go back sometime, again.
I feel terrible for leaving an unfavorable review, but feel I must. This was not a 4 diamond experience the night we had dinner at Menton’s. The service was slow, we think that we lost our waiter mid way through dinner. A decidedly unimpressive experience. Hope to find a better dining experience next time in Boston.
Ambiance was great, service was great, wine list was great, food was great save one dish. Great date night!
Food took a long time but they gave small bites, extra bread and champagne during the wait
Great high quality food! Exceptional service and nice atmosphere
We dined on a weeknight and the restaurant was busy. We waited longer than usual for food and service. The bread came quite late, and the refill bread came towards the end of our meal. The food was decent but nothing like the original Menton before the revamp/renovation. Some dishes were good and others were ordinary. The minimal use of soft surfaces made for difficult conversation without raising of voices especially at a larger table.
The duck breast with mushroom ragoût, blackberry, porcini & black garlic purée was good, the duck cooked just pink and the elements well put together. The spaghetti with king crab, corn & chive was light but lacking in presentation and interest. The desserts were good but not extraordinary. Overall it was like dining in any other decent restaurant rather than a Barbara Lynch flagship. We definitely expected more of Menton and hope it will regain a little more of what made it outstanding before.
Great experience. some dishes weren't home runs, but definitely worth a trip.
Beautiful special occasion restaurant. The tasting menu was divine. Delivered with ample time between courses so you could digest and get excited for the next one. Service was attentive, but not invasive. Very professional and knowledgeable. Made you feel very comfortable and welcome. A few tables are a bit close together. The restaurant was quiet and I could hear my dinner partner, but not the conversation of the neighboring table. If you are looking for a special night out, this is the place.
Tremendous service, a very personable barman and outstanding food.
Delightful & special in every way. That dinner roll is perfection. Thanks to the friendly and thoughtful staff who made our evening relaxing & memorable.
Enjoy Menton’s personable service. The food were very good and prepared to perfection. My only wish was a tad more creativity that excites — making a very good meal an experiential remember.
We took advantage of restaurant week and enjoyed a beautiful experience at Menton.
They shouldn’t participate in Dine out Boston. Obviously they don’t want to because the level of cooking and portion size was terrible. We had the 5 course tasting menu at $85 pp. minuscule offerings. Makes me not want to try dining there with the regular menu. Wine pairing which was only offered with the 5 course menu was great. Service was fantastic.
First time dining at Menton because I heard of Barbara Lynch’s food! It was amazing and I will come back again!
Nice service, but too, too slow at the start, even after we said we had a commitment after dinner. Excellent wines by the glass.
Such a warm and hospitable dining experience! I have been twice to Menton, once for me and my boyfriends anniversary and a second time for my parents anniversary. Both times have exceeded my expectations and they make sure we are taken care of and feel more than just average diners. The food has such detail in presentation and flavor. Being a restaurant manager myself, I notice the little details that mentons staff goes above and beyond for. Wonderful place to dine for special occasions or get togethers.
Excellent food! Excellent service.
We went for the 5-course set menu during restaurant week. Let me start by saying a positive thing about my meal; the bread is excellent, from the soft sweet roll to start through to the flavourful fougasse it was some of the best I’ve had in the USA. Unfortunately, that’s about where the good things end.
I do not expect to spend $85 per head on food and still leave hungry, yet each of the five courses were depressingly small in size. Other tables who had ordered from the 3-course set menu appeared to have significantly larger portions each course. If the extra courses had been exciting or special this could be forgiven - but while the food was all good, nothing was exceptional. Service was fine, though rushed – on more than one occasion our plates were swept away while we were still chewing the final bite.
At half the price the overall experience would have been OK, but given the price and expectations the meal was simply disappointing.
Having a meal at Menton is a dining experience. The host and waiting staff are professional and attentive. They certainly contribute positively to the incredible dining experience. The food is exceptional. So delicious and each plate is a work of art.
Excellent service. Polite staff. Clean. Ambiance was nice not too loud. Not stuffy or pompous. Excellent cocktails. Wine pairing was 50/50. Food was good, not great and far from outstanding. The Chef’s Whim wasn’t whimsical. SKULL ISLAND PRAWN... average somewhat bland. TURBOT... quite good but a bit over salted. POLENTA SFORMATO... excellent, very delicate. BRAISED LAMB... good, but missing something, pasta too al dente. FOIE GRAS TERRINE... again quite good but a bit too sweet for my preference. BEEF CHEEKS... again good, but not great, under seasoned. DUCK... excellent as was the fig accompaniment, but the almond butter was too bitter and had to be used sparingly. WHITE PEACH MOUSSE... too sweet for my taste as was the wine pairing with too strong an alcohol taste. No foodgasm to be had. Will definitely experiment elsewhere before returning. 3.5 stars.
Went for the discount menu but had the 8 course tasting because the menu was so interesting. The food was superior and delicious, albeit served relatively slowly. Very expensive but worth it in a splurge.
Perfectly executed, innovative dishes, and plenty of them. Firing on all cylinders.
Perhaps wee would recommend to a friend but we believe you have to visit restaurant more than once before you can make any recommendation
As a "special occasion" restaurant, this is a solid go-to. We got the tasting menu, which was worth the money. Although my husband loved every bit of it, I found some of the dishes a little bland, and thought we waited an extra 10 minutes between courses. That said, the food was beautiful, the wait staff was attentive, and the ambiance was lovely. If I were to go again, I'd opt for a meal off the main menu, rather than the chef's whim.
Mention was truly fine dining. A wonderful experience from beginning to end.
My daughter and I were there for her Birthday. I was happy to have such a great place to take her. We live in Boston and will definitely return.
Lovely dinner had the chief tasting menu and everything was perfect
Incredible. Staff was amazing. Daniel was especially attentive and knowledgeable. Food was very special.
Excellent service and delicious food. Starters were wonderful the prawns were out of this world - main meals were good bass was excellent crab pasta was mostly basil and average the desserts were amazingly presented. The attention to detail is outstanding.
Second time at the restaurant and just as great as we remembered. John is so professional and approachable and really helps make the whole experience.
From the moment we walked in the restaurant we were treated eloquently. The dining area was beautifully designed and created an amazing ambiance. The food was beyond words, each dish was amazing, but I’d love to not the Waygu carpaccio. It melted in your mouth and the cherries were a great acidic touch. Their wine selection is phenomenal! We had a smooth Oakley 2011 paulliac Bordeaux. I’ve saved the best for last, the service, each person who greeted us or simply came to pour water was simply professional. They seemed very well deserved of their jobs and I hope they continue what they’re doing for a long time. I will definitely be back!
Wonderful service and great food, truly a special evening.
Brilliant service and amazing good dishes! This is a true blue Boston culinary institution.
Certainly not an inexpensive option but the food was outstanding. Excellent choice for celebrating a special night or just an indulgent treat for yourself.
Birthday- truly amazing, can’t wait to return
Very good restaurant. Service by all was perfect from the first minute to the end. The restraurant has a fantastic wine liste. The food was exquiste. Their choice of breads is something...
I look forward to returning to Boston to go back to Menton.
Everything and everyone was top notch. Extremely friendly and courteous. A wonderful experience!
