Neat, moderate design, delicious foods, great selections of wines and service.
Did the tasting menu, it was very good, but with all tasting menus, some dishes you like some you don’t. My biggest critique would be the wine accompaniment. They wines should have been much better wines!
The service started off rocky -- the waiter forgot to give us the amuse bouche -- but then became excellent. The food was very good except the desert and the wine recommended by the sommelier was good but not great.
Wonderful restaurant but a bit fussy. The food was good but nothing I am dying to get back to. Overall a lovely evening, especially good for special occasion.
Amazing food, service, and ambiance. Highly recommended!!!
A good deal at half the price?
This used to be an amazing destination restaurant. It is no longer; it’s set for the Marriott Courtyard guests who wander in from next door for a la carte (and might be reasonable for that).
We were only one of two tables seated and the only one having the tasting. The tasting menu was the same price as our last visit but not anywhere near the presentation, quality, and cuisine. It disappointed from the monkfish on steakhouse-grade mashed to the stale macarons.
I don’t really know what to say. The staff did their absolute best at ever step, but this is hardly a flagship. Menton should drop their prices by two-thirds or just become an extension of Sportello. One of our courses was even a tiny potion of a Sportello dish.
Just awful for the space. I’d give it one star if not for the heroic efforts of the service team. I’m so sorry.
Excellent food, small portions, expensive. Worth it for a special night out. Would definitely go back.
What a wonderful evening! The service was amazing, as was our meal. Our group enjoyed the duck and the soft shell crab-both delightful!
For the price, I only found Menton so so. The service was top-notch but the food was nothing spectacular. It was also rather loud and hard to carry a quiet conversation.
I’m a solo diner. That doesn’t mean I want to be crammed into a table next to the doors of the kitchen, especially when the place is half empty on a Friday night. The speed of servers rounding my table to get to the kitchen and the doubled mirror where you could see servers lurking in front of the kitchen doors made my seat feel frenetic. Seeing another solo diner at a nice window seat across the restaurant made me wonder just where I went wrong in life.
Had three dishes plus the gifts from the chef, nothing stood out though they were all beautifully executed and technically correct. Really, nothing to specifically point out, just a certain something was missing and goodness knows it might’ve just been my slightly depressed mood. Skip the bread, it was mediocre.
Despite my grouching about the location of the table, service was exceptionally attentive, the best thing about the experience. They quickly replaced a drink I was not enjoying with something else, and I felt perfectly taken care of.
Overall, it was a nice experience but one I’d likely not repeat. I eat out for the food, and this was perfectly just ok.
Disappointing with vary variable execution across tasting menu and underwhelming wines in the flight. Would pay more to get the real deal, but at these prices certainly expect consistency. Very nice location and decor. Ambience balanced.
Staff especially maitre d' saved the day, but would not return unless obligated.
Beautiful space. Elegant glassware, flatware and dinnerware. Very comfortable ambiance. Excellent service and amazing food. We loved it.
We visited for the second time this month with friends . We all loved our meal and the service was impeccable as usual The presentation and taste of every single item was delightful , and the Oyster with coconut was a taste explosion !. I only hope they bring back the Tablecloths please !!!
Love the food and the service, but am not a big fan of the new décor.
Menton is one of our favorite restaurants. It's very high-end, but not at all pretentious. It's all about the food and service. The food is fantastic--unusual and creative combinations of ingredients and flavors, served almost like pieces of art. The service is super friendly and helpful, but still professional. (I don't like it when servers act like they're your newest BFF.) The recently renovated dining room has a clean, understated design, but is louder than before.
This was an very good experience overall. My husband and I did the Chef's Whim with wine pairings. The service and the wine was spectacular. The knowledge of the servers was wonderful. Sadly, there was nothing that memorable food-wise. It was all very good but at that price point I was expecting AMAZING (or at least a few showstoppers). I would have a hard time recommending this to a friend as it was just so much $ for "good" food.
Dats with my wife, and we waned to have a special dining experience. I am a long-time fan of Number Nine Park, and enjoy Barbara Lynch’s restaurants in general. The newly redesigned restaurant brings the atmosphere down a notch in terms of fancy or exquisite, but it remains a setting that is special. We ordered the Chef’s Whim (tasting menu), and it was a fine dining adventure! The staff is extremely knowledgeable and made the dinner even more enjoyable - few places could match the service. Cocktails and wine were fabulous too. It is a dinner you must not rush through, so plan a minimum sitting of two hours and enjoy!
Anniversary made special by the hostess to our server!
If you want to project the sense that you're spending a lot of money, so that the occasion seems really special, this is the place to go. But don't go expecting amazing food; it's actually quite ordinary. We had the grilled octopus--have had better at Little Donkey in Cambridge at a fraction of the price. The burrata too disappointed--have bought much better at Whole Foods. The wine list is geared at those on an expense account. What's really good about it? The service is excellent--very attentive, nicely pitched between being there and holding back to give you space.
We just love everything about this place ! Decor, service, food, lighting, the stemware , even the bathrooms . No 1 place in seaport , pure perfection , can’t wait to return again
The food was very good, but not perfect (my scallops and mussels were not cleaned perfectly, so I could still taste the sand).
Impressive dinner and service. The tasting menu was amazing and I am glad we got it. I needed a change to some of the dishes and they accommodated me without seeming bothered. The service is amazing and up there with some Michelin star places I have been to in NY. It is pricey but the respect they give you and the freshness of the food makes you really understand why they set their prices there. It is a special occasion type of place so if you are willing to spend money you might as well do it right. I highly recommend this place and will be going back (as we try to do at least once a year).
My husband took me to Menton to celebrate my birthday.
Food is very tasty. I don’t understand why there is never anyone at the restaurant during lunch time.
Hoping my 500 dinning points get posted on my account.
Having eaten at The French Laundry and other 1 and 2 Michelin star restaurants in NY, California and throughout Europe, I would say this was one of the 2-3 best meals of my life: The 8 course chef's whimsy with wine pairings. Superb and worth every penny! Each course was a marvel of culinary creativeness and excellence. The service and attentiveness to individual preferences was world class. The only thing detracting from absolute perfection was that the rolls that came with the meal (as opposed to the one before) were just okay, but this is a minor criticism in the context of an extraordinary experience. It's too bad that Boston can't support more restaurants of this calibre. By the way, if you order a la carte, a meal is not very expensive, with entrees topping out in the high $30's. But go for the tasting menu!
We had an absolutely perfect meal, celebrating a family birthday. The service and the food were fantastic! The staff has the perfect balance of being involved/attentive and not being intrusive. Each unique dish was prepared with flair and wonderful ingredients. Three days later we are all still talking about the experience, and comparing our favorite dishes. Lobster, Foie gras, Gnocchi, and Vegetable fricassee all competed. We couldn't have been more pleased!!!
Menton was a breathtaking experience from start to finish. We went with the chef's whim and every single course was spectacular. The food, service, wine pairings, and atmosphere were all impeccable. My compliments to every staff member at Menton and thank you for a lovely evening.
Lunch menu was so so
Best gnocchi had ever, outstanding service and sophisticated French-Italian cuisine
Fantastic. Could not fault a thing. Service : impeccable. Food : Devine (especially the octopus!). Cost : yes, it’s expensive, but this isn’t an ‘every day’ restaurant, so you should not expect to pay every day prices. Worth it, in my opinion. Go here!!!
Amazing food and exceptional service. A true fine dining experience
Food and service was excellent. Only negative was the price.
Went there with my girlfriend on Fri lunch.
Perfect food. Perfect service and great recommendations from the waiter on the menu.
If your girlfriend is looking for places to take photos, this place is it. She will love the ambience.
p.s. the soap they have in the restroom is hard not to love.
Staff is amazing and so is their food. Went to lunch with some co-workers - everything was delicious from cocktails to entrees to their wonderful pavlova. Definitely will be back.
Fabulous service and meal.
My sons only complaint was “not enough bread” We both loved everything
Even the candle in the bathroom .
The food is delicious, I had seared foie gras, which is amazing. The pasta is fantastic. I am very critical about pasta and I always have a high standard. But both the lobster spaghetti and veal agnolotti are outstanding. I had cod for my entree, and it is surprisingly delicious. One of the best fish I had in Boston. The service is impeccable and the staff here is unmatched.
Awesome service, delectable dishes, modern decor
The service was amazing and the attention from everyone was superb! The food was great.
