Nice atmosphere, reasonably priced good food, attentive service.
You can talk here - it is quiet. Blackened fish tacos are excellent. Salads only so, so.
A busy night and I think they didn't have enough wait staff. But the waiters are very apologetic. Came here excited for the prime rib special on Sundays. But tonight the execution was not up to par. Perviously it has a good light smoke flavor. Tonight the rib had no flavor. The jus also had no flavor. My husband's short rib was executed perfectly though he said.
The service was slow and we had to ask for things, like bread, water, silverware. We were with friends, and not in hurry, but still. Some of the meals were excellent, some disappointing. This is my typical experience at this restaurant.
The tall Asian woman at the check in desk commented (thankfully) not loud enough for my uncle to hear but clearly unaware we were dining with a visually impaired man, despite the notation on the reservation...OH YOU HAVE A DOG, in a tone that said “we don’t do dogs”. He is a guide dog for the blind!!!!!
As you can see the reservation was for 6:15 on Tuesday but when we arrived we were told it was on your books for Wednesday so we had to wait for them to set up a table, when then let to the awful comment above!!!!
Food was great, never got the water refill i asked theee times for so drank the other two guests water!
The food is good, not trying to be fancy. We like that there is no corkage fee for wine, and that it's quiet enough for conversation. There were 5 of us, and - in most restaurants these days - we'd have all been hoarse from shouting to be heard. Instead, we chatted comfortably for 2+ hours, didn't feel rushed, and were very pleased with the whole evening.
The fried calamari tentacles were the most tender and flavorful that we ever had.
The bar drinks and Onion soup were excellent also.
I especially liked when I asked the waitress if the fig-blue pizza was good and without hesitation she said she knew I would like it and I certainly and what leftover I brought home my family enjoyed it too. I would definitely order it again. It was not the first time for two of us at the Menlo Grill and each time I go back I like it even better. We are planning on coming back when our little group meet again for lunch,. Thank you.
Pretty restaurant. Average food
I was a little disappointed with the food since the eggs in my Eggs Benedict were slightly overcooked for my liking. But the dish was still tasty and enjoyable. On the flip side, Jasmine was our server, and she was outstanding. Friendly, attentive, took very good care of us throughout our time there. Food and service both make the experience, and this was good food with awesome service. I would recommend this place to others for a good meal experience.
This was the “night after Valentines” dinner for my wife and I as we avoid the crowds on the actual day. The initial waiter we had seemed good, but we switched seats to avoid a rather annoying customer who was already seated. The second waiter, Alan I believe, seemed less experienced and minimally trained, but he was friendly, so that seems to reflect on management than the waiter. There were some odd stretches where Alan didn’t appear.
The food was inconsistent, the butternut squash soup I had was bland as was my wife’s filet mignon. The appetizers and especially the Ahi Tuna special were excellent, however.
We may be back, but having been there before about two years ago I remember the restaurant being much better. Hopefully third time’s the charm.
Comfortable seating and excellent service. The muffuletta was just right.
For an everyday dining, I would recommend this place and it is located in the hotel.
The butternut squash and Caesar salad were superbly excellent.
My companion had filet mignon which she enjoyed very much. I had a mixed salad with steak and it was mediocre as the steak itself was bit fatty. I wish they would pick a better steak to accompany the salad. Not only that, it was arrived "uncut" (non-sliced) and it would be more appropriate if it was "sliced".
The dessert was really good as we had beignets. The server was really good but was busy serving 5 other tables.
The food is fine. Other eateries also have good food but at the Grill it is served in a relatively quiet environment in which we can carry on a normal conversation. That is rare and special.
It was great, quiet, comfortable seating with big chairs, tables, friendly staff and very good food.
We are 4 business owners who meet monthly. The Menlo Grill is one of our favorite places, due to the reliably good food and the relatively low noise-level so we can easily talk business and hear each other clearly. During the warm months, it is a definite favorite because the seating in the inner court yard is super. With live but quiet music background, the tables are far from each other and there are seating areas with fire places ... a lovely ambiance
i was meeting with a colleague from new york and we wanted to have some place quiet to talk. so we got the round table next to the fireplace in the bar area which is much quieter and more comfortable than the dinning area. we shared a wonderful salad and had the best salmon dish i think I have ever had for the entree..
i go here frequently but this was the best experience i have had there.
Perfect as usual. Very good for business meetings.
We have been here many times, it changed a while back though. We have noticed there aren't as many patrons. We can get in, any day of the week, at any time we want. They changed the menu and messed with what was a good thing. The scallops with mushroom risotto started as an appetizer, then they jacked up the price and made it an entree, fine. Now they have changed it all together and it was horrible. SUPER salty. Scallops were not cooked, there was no caramelization and the saffron risotto with peas was inedible. I didn't eat it. Our calamari appetizer was over cooked. The calamari itself was fine, but the oil was clearly way too hot and it almost burned the breading. My daughter ordered her burger medium rare with bacon, my son ordered his medium well without bacon. They were delivered the proper meals, but my daughters was cooked to my son's requests and his to hers. The waiter was great, he was attentive and could tell I wasn't pleased with my order. He asked if it was OK, and I explained. He offered to bring me something else, but I didn't want to get my meal after everyone was done. He was generous and took the entree off our bill - something we did not expect. The customer service was on point, but something needs to give with the kitchen. They packed up the left-overs, including mine. The next day, I pulled out my trusty cast iron pan, got it nice and warm and seared the scallops off to their proper searing. They were very good, after being cooked properly. They were clearly undercooked if they withstood a searing on each side and were still tender. The risotto was a lost cause. I tried to fix it...but it was a no go. We'll go back, most likely...but they really need to go back to what they had for a menu and not mess with a good thing.
The Caesar salad with chicken was dry, tasteless. Lettuce not crisp and could not taste dressing.
Did not finish it - the chicken was not good either.
The lunch server was outstanding.
The hamburger and fries were great, but just a little too large. If it were not so, this was a five-star meal. Really not just hotel food! Will be coming back soon.
BTW, the seating is very comfortable, and the setting is pleasant,
Really disappointing experience from start to finish. Made Saturday night reservations as it was my boyfriend's birthday and we were staying at the Stanford Park Hotel. Arrived a few minutes early and were shown to the table at the doorway. I asked if we could have the next table in and the hostess begrudgingly let us sit there. Slow service to begin with, then low and behold our salads come out before our appetizer dishes had been cleared. Our salads were set in front of us, and the server was gone only to have a different server appear with our entrée. I had to tell the second server that we couldn't take the entrée because our salads had just been placed at our table. Had to ask for a fork since mine had been removed with the appetizer dish. Then our entrees came out which had been sitting in the back being kept warm. Never even offered another beverage or dessert, the staff was to preoccupied setting up for the next morning. I finally had to ask for the check. Very poor service from an uncaring staff.
Wonderful ambiance, food and service. This has become our go to place to get together share some nice wine, good times and to feel welcomed. Can’t get much better.
Courteous staff, friendly and efficient. Our server Layla took wonderful care of us. Delicious food every time I eat at Stanford Park Hotel's Menlo Grill Bistro & Bar.
Great salad and pork chops. Sundae dessert was a good way to top it off.
We like to come on Sundays for the Prime Rib. One time it wasn't satisfactory and the waitress brought another and it was perfect . We now enjoy sitting in the bar area enjoying our glasses of Riesling.
Stayed at the hotel and wanted to grab some breakfast, so we decided to eat there before heading out for our long day. The service was great; friendly and attentive. The food was nice... each of us had a different option. The price seemed a bit steep for the food we ordered but that matches the theme of the hotel. Overall it was good but for the cost we opted to get something elsewhere for the remainder of our stay.
The food was delicious. Be sure to try the Guacamole !
Always consistently good food and service. No corkage fee for first two bottles is a real gift and very appreciated. Wish the menu would be a bit more adventurous, but again, never been disappointed with anything I have ordered.
I chose this venue for a business lunch since it was described as one of the best quiet restaurants. The food and service was better than average to boot.
The food and service was very good. And it was a quiet environment. Plus the no corkage fee is a nice touch.
Very enjoyable food in a pleasant setting. Nice that they waive the corkage fee for the 1st 2 bottles. Look forward to dining again.
My friends and I have going to the Stanford Grill for several years and for several good reasons.
Mainly it is a quiet place to have lunch and we know we can relax and parking is not a problem.
The food had always been good every time we have been there. We have taken guests from Japan and even they enjoyed the fact that it is open and quiet and they also enjoyed the food.
I know that we will go back again. In fact I am thinking of bringing three friends who are even older than me to enjoy the quiet atmosphere and I know they will like the food.
Poor service and food quality. We were so disappointed.
Usually very good - somewhat disappointing for this year's Christmas day dinner. Very chewy/gristly prime rib. No sticky toffee pudding - mystery cake substituted with not a mention at ordering or upon delivery. Ambiance is nice and service was very good, except for the dessert issue previously mentioned.
This place is quite scenic, considering it's in the middle of town. Pretty trees & courtyard fountain greet you upon arrival. Parking was available. Service was prompt but not rushed. Food was delicious.
Good experience. Tasty food. Our waiter, Ron, was fantastic. Made the meal & night better.
Very enjoyable experience, great ambience, great food and great service, friendly staff
We always enjoy coming here for our annual Christmas lunch. The ambience is lovely as they have a beautiful tree in the lobby, where you can sit after dining.
Our hamburgers were delicious and the beignets were scrumptious!
We never felt rushed and the noise level was perfect.
We’re planning a summer lunch for next year!
excellent service and cuisine, in a comfortable and elegant setting.
