Don’t count on a reservation being worth much.
Extremely poor table management, not very accommodating. We were seated 45 minutes late.

We like this restaurant because the food and service are quite good, and there is always parking available. We generally go out to dinner with friends, so we especially appreciate that you can actually enjoy conversation. The tables aren't stuffed in too close to one another, there is enough fabric to absorb sound ... all making for a pleasant evening where we're not constantly saying "What?? What??" and don't go home with a headache!

Good local place for any meal. Easy parking, attentive staff and tasty food. The short ribs were very tender. The sea bass was very good. Caesar salad nothing special; only low point. Beignets not really classic, more like donut holes. In the summer, nice patio.

Subpar service spoils a nice Sunday brunch. We had to ask for way too many items that should have been asked about or just automatically brought to the table.
Water - had to ask
Salt & pepper - had to ask
Butter - had to ask (we had toast & muffins)
Cream - had to ask
Sugar - had to ask

We had appetizers and drinks when there. The drinks were excellent, the onion soup outstanding, and the crust on the prosciutto pizza terrific.

One of the best places in Palo Alto / Menlo Park for a quiet lunch either for business or casual dining. There is never a rushed feeling and the interior sets the mood for understated elegance. Lunch menu is wonderfully varied and the food is at least very good and always extremely fresh. Service is thoroughly professional and attentive, without being intrusive or obsequious. Hated to leave to get back to the "real world".

My friend and I went with two other couples. With all the talking we were slow to order and slow to finish, but staff was good about letting us hang out in the small room area to talk even after we finished eating.

Alas the Menlo Grill has fallen back to mediocre after being better. Back to amateur hour for service. Ordered oysters came with no fork and two were inedible. Told the waiter but no replacement or adjustment on bill. Pork chop could have been good but was almost cold. Plates removed from one at the table while others still eating. Cioppiono served on a regular dinner plate rather than a bowl and with no spoon. Bread not served until asked for. Cheesecake was so small was finished in 4 bites. This is now an average hotel dining room not worthy of a restaurant designation. Best thing is free corkage but food not worth it. The last time we ate here was much better but this is last time for us.

A good quality restaurant in Palo Alto. The service was friendly, food was good and the wine list is well put together. Good value for money, and a really pleasant environment overall.

This is one of my two favorite restaurants on the Peninsula. Knowledgeable and attentive wait staff: I was choosing between two pastas and our waiter recommended one of them - it was marvelous! Pasta with unusual pairings of vegetables and salmon.

We got good service and a great, unrushed meal--important because we had much to discuss. Equally important the restaurant is quiet enough to have real conversation.

Once again, thank you, Menlo Grill! You never disappoint.

Service wasn't so good, took a long time to get fruit and nuts that went with waffle. Had to remind staff to refill coffee. It was a game day and maybe that was the reason. Also, couldn't order a mimosa until 10am. On the weekend, you would expect to be able to.

Great neighborhood restaurant inside Stanford Park Hotel--yet, set out of the way. Lovely, quiet
place to meet another couple for dinner. Not a child's restaurant...upscale, but not over-the-top. $$$.

Perfect dining in the patio in spring/summer/fall. Excellent for conversation in a beautiful setting. Umbrellas strategically placed to shield from warm sun and sunlight. A larger variety of menu choices food is good and reasonably priced.

We were there on a Sunday afternoon. The organization at the front desk was not very good. It took some time to find our reservation. Drinks were very expensive. The food was not cooked properly. In general our experience was a disappointing. The service was reasonable but not stellar.

This was a wonderful surprise! The outdoor patio is inviting and spacious. We were treated to lovely live music at a such a nice level. I was able to easily engage in conversation with my husband. There was a nice crowd and yet it was not loud. There is lots to choose from on the menu and the food was good. The service was excellent with friendly and attentive wait staff. I loved this restaurant and will love to return!

This past weekend was my son's 16th day and this is the restaurant he chose. We've always been thrilled with the service and food, this time around service was good, but it took a long time for the food to arrive and the waitress came out before appetizers, entrees and dessert to say it'll be out soon. The food quality was not their best. My son's filet was butterflied and request to be cooked Medium, 26% of of it was raw and surprisingly it was Fatty, my husbands scallops were gritty, my daughter's dish was very bland, and only my meal got a thumbs up. Not sure if we'll plan to go back. Expensive dinner with annoy so happy outcome. I also noted that it was my son's bday and none of the waitstaff said anything.

We went to have drinks and dinner. Sat outside for drinks. Took forever to find someone to take our order and then a long time to get drinks. Had to find manager to get a check. Went into restaurant and were seated. Ordered food almost immediately but server didn't even ask if we wanted anything to drink. 30 minutes later, we got bread. No updates at all about delays. After 40 minutes, we told our server we needed to leave because we had a sitter at home. She said she would ASK her Manager if that was ok. We only stuck around bc I was curious what her manager would have to say. He didn't come out with her, and she told us it was ok to go. I was shocked that neither of them apologized for the wait or did anything to try to rectify the situation. This was our date night, and we wen home hungry and disappointed.

We have come to the Menlo Grill a number of times. We enjoy the food and service has always been good. This time...not so much. We arrived 6 minutes early for our reservation, the dining room was NOT full and there were plenty of tables for us. The 12 year old in charge of seating (OK, maybe he was 18) informed me we were early and he would not be able to seat us until our reservation time. My girlfriend just had her hip replaced and is walking on a cane. He suggested we could go to the bar area. We sat down and waited and waited. We were now past our reservation time by 3 minutes, so we asked a woman if we could now be seated. We were seated. 20 minutes went by and we had still not been met by ANYONE. We finally asked a waiter walking by if he was our waiter, he said no...but would be happy to help us if we needed something. We asked if our wine (we brought) could be opened while we waited for our waiter to come. He abliged. We now had wine, but still no waiter. We are now 30 minutes into this and "our" waiter has yet to come to welcome us or take an order. We finally asked the lovely waiter who poured our wine if he would be our waiter. He was wonderful and accommodated us. By the time everything was said and done...we had been there 3 hours. Food was good, company was great and our waiter was fabulous. We were just disappointed by the way we were treated upon arrival and that we had to take the initiative to get a waiter.
