Enjoyed the performance
Had been there years ago and the food was better. Would have liked more input from waitress on best choices. Seemed dated and expensive
Attentive service, nice and quiet at the location we went to (it was a Sunday night).
They used to give you towels so you can rinse and dry your hands, and use the towels as napkins. Now they provide non-absorbant napkins that are ineffective.
The food used to be excellent, now it is fair to poor -- on the salty side. And on the boring side.
However, the ambiance was excellent. The belly-dancing was very fun and well done. The price was good.
Old, run down and dirty.
Needs updating very badly.
Looks like it was a great concept at some point, but is now failing.
Food was ok.
- Mark up price for a special love day; the norm
- a few Mylar balloons to give it The V day feel; tacky
- The prefixed meal was no different than an average day
- Service was mediocre, nothing worth noting
- The feeling was... being herded like a flock of sheep; sit, eat, and go
Overall, it’s an experience. Belly dancing was entertaining, for a bit.
Excellent service, food and drinks. Looking forward to our next Date Night!
A fun experience on a Saturday evening. Mesmerizing entertainment is a must see! Delicious food from Kebabs to four course meals.
Amazing place! Will take my wife and kids here!
This was my first visit and I was extermely disappointed. It took a long time to take our order, the food as ok but I was expecting a better quality. The service was so bad that at some point we felt forgotten in the resturant.
It was surprising that they charge you a tip for party of 5 or more.
The food was delicious and the service was courteous. The entertainment was fun and friendly. They even prepared a surprise dessert for us.
A group of 6 of us went to Menara Moroccan for the adventure! Some of us had been before, others had not. As usual, Menara does not disappoint. For newbies to Moroccan food, the fixed price menus off are great way to try a number of different things. The service was very good, and we were lucky enough to have a belly dancer (we went on Sunday, and there is usually not a belly dancer on Sundays). I believe her name was Kai and she was absolutely wonderful!
Menara Moroccan is a great place for parties and large group events. The food is consistently good and the atmosphere is a lot of fun. Be prepared to get up and belly dance!
We had a reservation and were quickly seated when the restaurant opened at 6pm. The tables had not all been set up in advance, so staff were shuttling plates and napkins from one table to the next or gathering more from elsewhere. The staff were assisting other customers who arrived after us and seating a large group, so it took 10 minutes to place our drink order and another 15 minutes before we were able to place our dinner order. The group of 12-15 people was celebrating an anniversary and were seated next to us. The bar drinks were okay but nothing too special. The food, however, that came in 6 different rounds was fabulous! We highly recommend the Cornish Game Hen and Lamb dishes. The noise level of the piped in music was too high for our tastes and the large group next to us was loudly celebrating, so unfortunately we "almost 70 year olds" were not able to carry on regular conversation for our Date Night. We really appreciated the Belly Dancer at 7pm, that we did not expect on a Sunday night, and tipped her for the excellent performance. This is certainly a location for a Moroccan experience with hand washing at your table and a Mint Tea finale! We do plan to return, hopefully on a quieter night.
Great service and food. The view of the sunset was amazing!
Excellent food!!! Lovely belly dancing overall a fantastic restaurant 👍🏻
Good food and reasonable prices for lunch. We were a little skeptical since we were the ONLY table there for lunch. Apparently the restaurant has been in business for 40 years, open only at night, and only just started lunch hours a year ago. The ambience is more fitting for dinner hours, dim, but unique decor.
I definitely recommend this restaurant!
I enjoyed the environment and the entertainment. Food was delivered very fast and consumed quickly
It was a great experience... food was really good as well. The total experience was well worth it. Not for people in a rush. Go early and stay late, it's definitely worth the time.
Fun place for a birthday party but the service was not very good. We had asked for our drinks several times and never received the tea service.
The place is very energetic, the staff is very welcoming. Perfect for a birthday and they have a nice entertainment.
I ordered Tagine on a Thursday evening and the dish was quite good. I've been craving good Morrocan food since my trip to Montreal and this was a gem for a cuisine that's not common in San Jose. You do have to be prepared to sit traditional style on floor cushions with pillows and low tables and really low lighting for dinner. It goes with the ambiance but might not be comfortable for your back and be a tad dark for some folks in certain nooks.
Wonderful from start to finish!!!! Would definitely recommend to others!!
we ordered one kabob platter and fish tagine. The kabob platter was good but they didnt serve tagine on the pot what it was supposed to serve on and the taste was bland. really loved the belly dancing part. If I go again i will be going for belly dancing not for food.
Delightfully Enriching experience for all the senses!! I highly recommend it. I have been eating here since 1977.
It has grown to be even better.
I had the Cornish hen the apricots. Great flavor, large serving. I was concerned about the bones. So tender even the bones fell off into the couscous. Nect time I will order a dish without the bones. I look forward to trying dinner and seeing the belly dancers.
Unique dining experience with great food and service.
Been here before. Food taste went down a bit but still a fun place to go.
Food was outstanding, service could have been much better, ambiance was very nice, the belly dancers were energetic and their performance was professional. Dinner should be an adventure and at Menara's it was great fun. If the service had been better would have rated 5 stars. Would be a great place to go with a large group.
It was a long time ago that I was here for the first time. You definitely feel like you have been wisked away to a foreign land. The food is tasty and not overwhelming. I thought I would have garlic breath for the night but I was pleasantly surprised. But I was also surprised about poor service. We were seated for a long time before the waitress never came to our table. Once we ordered, we received our drinks after the appetizer and the b'stilla. The food was delicious and prepared well. After we were done, I had to summons the waitress to get our check after waiting for about 30 minutes. I would've had more to drink and dessert but she didn't come around :-( we had the hummus, chicken b'stilla and Cornish game hen with apricots and raisins.
The air conditioning was not working
We really wnted to like this restaurant since we love this type of food but it was not to be. The soup was good but the reminder of the dishes were very overcooked. The Bastilla was crispy but so dry inside it was hard to eat. We've had this many times in many different restaurants and its always been moist and delicious. For my lamb kabob I actually got I skewer with two pieces of lamb on it, very small amount, also unlike any other place we have tried. Staff was very pleasant but not well organized and often got our order wrong so they had to take the dish back and start again. They didn't seem to communicate with one another well and clearly did not have enough staff for the size of the restaurant. Also, very warm and stuffy inside, clearly had no A/C so don't go there on a hot day!
Amazing food excellent ambience plus the belly dancing is a must watch👍🏻👍🏻
Really fun atmosphere when the belly dancer comes out!
fun live entertainment (belly dance). I recommended for all families.
The place was dingy and run down, the wall paper(tiles) was damaged and peeling off the wall. There seemed to be insufficient waiters so service was very slow from taking our orders to food delivery to our table. The belly dancer tried very hard to entertain and engage the diners. The food was only so-so. It might have been a nice place in it's prime about 15 years ago. Very disappointing
Bad food, smelly carpets and seats, the only thing I liked out of the five dishes and two drinks we ordered was the blue moon and mahia
Try shalizaar or Bijan for a better albeit Persian experience
This place is for people who wanna watch belly dances not for admirers of North African cuisine
Great place! Good food and very accommodating. Excellent for large groups
What a great experience! Took our work team of 10 and enjoyed the traditional atmosphere and authentic food. Thanks for being flexible with the menu so that we could try different things!
Food is excellent but the servings are really small. Recommend this as a bar/club space with a bunch of friends rather than a family restaurant. Noise is too high as well and service too slow. Overall its a good place to hang out and eat good Moroccan food.
Food was excellent, but unfortunately service was very slow and it was super warm inside the restaurant they should at have air conditioning available
