In 2010, brothers Alon and Jacob Cohen took on the West Village with a restaurant named for their mother, Mémé Mediterranean. Having emigrated from Morocco to Israel at a young age with his family, chef/owner Jacob pulls inspiration and influence not only from his mother’s own Maghreb cooking, but also classical training received in both Israel and France. Jacob’s menu creates a culinary trip around the Mediterranean using fresh ingredients and spices shipped directly from his mother, who still lives in Israel.
After much success in the West Village, the duo is proud to open a second location of the same name in Hell's Kitchen. Keeping with tradition of great hospitality and good food, Méme provides a cozy atmosphere and flavorful dishes using Mémé Cohen’s own hand-ground paprika. Chef Jacob continues to impress with his culinary creativity and generosity.

As always the service, ambience and food are enjoyable with very few missteps. Enjoyed the lamb burger although there's not much to it. Just a lamb burger with a piece of goat cheese on a bun. That's it. Could use a sauce or mayo or aioli or something to give it some moisture.

We live in the neighborhood and have been here multiple times. We've had take-out when the pandemic was in full swing. This place has never disappointed us. Generous meal portions, strong drinks and very friendly service. Highly recommended !

Rose sangria, fried artichoke, ricotta gnocchi, laffa tacos, and grilled octopus were delicious. Laffa tacos were the best!! Ricotta gnocchi and octopus portions seemed a little small. Also, prices a little expensive, but food is so good! We sat inside and there were plexi glass barrier on both sides of our table (due to covid), which was nice. Staff was very friendly.

Finally indoor dining has reopened in NYC and just in time for Valentines Day! How lucky to live in a neighborhood where Meme was an option and to be able to have a wonderful "indoor" dining experience where the food, service and ambience were all in sync and perfectly executed. No complaints and will return again and again.
