Broken glass with glass flying onto the table
Bad response from staff Disbelief that the glass could fly so far.
3 over cooked steaks.
Drunk patron accosted one of us.
Had to request help from staff, though they were watching the interaction and didn’t move to help us.
A disappointment for all of us.
Melvyn's lived up to our very high expectations. We have already recommended it to several others.
It was lovely as always. Two people had never been there before and they loved it.
Always love our visit to Melvyn's. A throwback to another time, but updated to today's desires. Service is always professional yet not at all stuffy and the food consistently good. Great atmosphere, ambiance and a fun vibe
Host and server were both curt and inattentive, If not rude. Food was less than good . Fish was undercooked and had to be sent back. One entry was suppose to be accompanied by seasonal vegetables which were undercooked carrots and burnt potatoes. Have dined several times before and never had this experience.
I enjoy Melvyn's. Top of my list. Good food, great value. Thanks Ray
Only go here to grab a martini at the bar and listen to some live music and for the classic old school Palm Springs vibe. The service is not great for the price of the menu and the food is absolutely bland, sad looking and disappointing.
Ambiance was great, waiter was very attentive and food was outstanding.
Unfortunately we did not have the best experience at Miltons this time. We have been there numerous times and always had wonderful food. We were disappointed because the menu was not as represented on their website. My husband had the steak au pouive and it was all gristle. The sole was dry around the edges. As always drinks and service superb. New management may be making changes not for better
We went to PS for the weekend, and wanted an old school dinner, and had heard great things about the live music at Melvyn’s. We were seated outside, so couldn’t see or hear the music, and we had to flag someone down just to order. We had to ask waiters (not just ours because he was MIA) when our apps were coming, as were ordered them over an hour ago. All in all, definitely not worth the money.
While the food is very good, an equally (if not) more compelling reason to dine at Melvyn's is the first class, unparalleled service. And, please ask to be seated in the legendary Bobby's area. He has been at Melvyn's 55 years and it is worth the evening to meet him.
What a lovely lunch! Well taken care of, almost pampered. Beautiful room and wonderful experience.
Fabulous. The food classic, the renovation tasteful. Bravo!
Beautiful place with spectacular service and notable food.
If you want classic Palm Springs, you need to eat and drink here.
Great after dinner music in the lounge !!!
Matt, Stephen, everyone on their game. Our favorite place in Palm Springs!
Fabulous dining experience. Old world Palm Springs. Good menu selection. Expensive but not over priced. We dine here every time we come to Palm Springs.
What a special place. Right out of a movie. Fantastic evening.
Best shrimp scampi of my life. We danced in the bar after dinner.
Great food, great table, great ambiance - however our waiter had a horrible attitude and we did not feel welcomed. He gave us a hard time for any requests and made us feel like we inconvenienced him. If he doesn’t want to be there, then he should get another job. I hated even tipping him $1.
Due to the change in ownership and the more recent change in management, the menu is undergoing major revisions. Currently, the choice of main entrees is very limited. I complained to the maitre'd following our meal and I was assured that they are re-working many of the old specials and they would soon be returned to the menu. Can't happen too soon for many of us.
Great Palm Springs Landmark restaurant. Janson our bartender was delightful, food great, and live music too. Lot's of old Hollywood spirits about for sure. A must even if it is just for a drink at the bar. That's were we perched and it was perfect.
Always a good place to dine and “people-watch.” Consistently, it’s a fun place, with great service, and lovely food & beverage offerings.
Attended the Sunday brunch or lunch . The waiter we had was friendly and pleasant. Infact we had him serve us 2 yrs ago on our prior trip to the area. We stayed for the Jazz session that starts around 3 pm. Getting a table without a reservation was not possible but we did manage chairs at the bar. Had a great view of the band and enjoyed a couple of cocktails served by a very busy and friendly bartender. Staying for this Jazz session is must.
We requested inside where the real ambience is but were put outside on a table for two squished between a table for four with two people and an empty table for four with no people. The food wasn't anything special like we had been told to expect. The menu prices were different than the actual prices that were charged on our bill. They did take off the price of the coffee when we pointed that out. The other two meals we weren't certain so were too embarrassed to point that out.
We were told by the couple sitting next to us that the owners were new and that it had a new chef. Don't think we will go back. It wasnt as special as what we were expecting.
Arrived early for a cocktail in the bar before dinner. Very much an old Hollywood feel. Host and waitstaff are dressed in full tuxedos or tuxedo shirts and ties. Bartender immediately got us taken care of even though very busy. We were seated for dinner promptly. We ordered the crab cakes, chicken pot pie (huge) and steak Diane (prepared table side). Everything was outstanding. Cooked and seasoned perfectly. We went back to the bar after dinner for a nightcap and listened to the live music. A great experience in all and we will definitely be back.
Wonderful live music. They ought to have even more ! Good food and drink is also to be found at this classic venue .
Our waiter, Steven, was just great. Attentive, informative and fun. Made our special night extra special!
So nice to have Brian back for the lunch hour and also the valet parking. I think the new ownership will be a really good thing! A bit of a price hike, at least on the lunch menu. Hmmmmm!
I took my 90 year old mother to see Melyvn's. Previously, we had purchased the book that Mel Haber had written, inscribed it to her, and this was her first chance for a meal there. She loved all the old pictures of the stars, with the maitre d showing her around!! Truly a great experience for her!
Overall a very disappointing experience. We arrived at the restaurant to find that the Menu posted on OpenTable no longer existed. The "New" menu had very limited items and the prices had definitely gone up. Seemed to the group we were with that it was a bit of false advertising. We booked a table on the patio only to be told they decided not to use the patio that night. Perhaps, then don't offer that as an option.
An extensive wine list was provided but many of the wines were unavailable. It took some time and effort to find a wine on the list that was in stock.
Food was mediocre at best particularly given the $$ paid. Steak Diane was advertised as being prepared table side but the fact was the plates arrived covered with a silver lid and only the sauce was prepared table side. Again, bit of false advertising. With so many great restaurants in the desert I would waste time or money on this one.
Love, love the table side preparation. From the spinach salad to the steak Diane to the cherries jubilee. Great work Stephan (our waiter from at least four visits)!
good food--excellent staff-good value--nice atmosphere--we will go again!
Very romantic quiet restaurant
Great place. And recent renovations make it look great!!!
Lovely evening to celebrate 50 years of friendship.
Wonderful old school institution.. buttery steaks, exemplary service and terrific experience.
Our dinner was delicious and at our request, our waiter, Bobby, gave us a history of Melvyn’s. He has worked there for 45 years!
As we followed the host to the glass enclosed patio with a view to the Ingleside Inn’s garden areas and fountain, Sinatra music was playing softly in the background. I knew I’d like this place and I wasn’t disappointed. Great service and good food.
Everything about the dining experience here is memorable. The service is unmatched anywhere. Food is beautiful and delicious without pretension. The drinks actually have liquor in them. Class all the way. I love Melvyn’s and can’t wait to go back.
Food was OK but expected better. Very old school which is fun. Banquette was tight for 4 men but Maître De was most accommodating.
