We were tucked back at an intimate table surrounded by windows. This made for easy conversation and listening. The food was prepared well and delicious. Service was very attentive.
It is always a pleasure to come to Melvyn's because it always feels like home. LOVE the staff especially the Old Timers, like Jose, Roberto and even our Beloved Host Brian! The Cobb Salad was great with a few personal additions. More Crispy Bacon! Yayyyyyyyyy. Well we all have our addictions . . .
Delicious food, attentive and friendly service. The piano bar after dinner was lots of fun.
The remodel of Melvyn's is almost complete (sans the Picasso artwork coming in). The new dark interior walls in the main dining room and the lounge create a very cheek, intimate feel. The drinks are still generous, the food is spot on. We had the Steak Diane which is finished at tableside. Entertainment is top notch. Wonderful on a date night or a meal with close friends.
Service was exceptional, food was delicious. Beautiful historic hotel and restaurant.
Can’t ask for a better place for dinner. Whether a romantic table for two or a fun table for four.
Wonderful atmosphere, exceptional service and awesome music!
Again, a wonderful dinner experience. Great atmosphere, excellent service, lovely menu choices and great food preparation and presentation. Also enjoyed the lively bar area with life entertainment.
Elegant yet comfortable - the service is impeccable yet relaxed and the food definitely hits the mark. Highly recommended for a little old-school Hollywood vibe that isn't stuck in a rut.
The attmosphere and charm is a gem. but most of all its your staff that makes your dinning experience a memorable one. your food is outstanding would highly recommend it and it is well worth the drive.
Our waiter wasnt very informative the Maitre'd I was rude. The food was awful and overpriced. Are you still love going there happened for the last 30 years this is probably the last time.
We enjoyed a wonderful birthday dinner for my husband.
Outstanding Thanksgiving experience. Great menu choices. Wonderful Turkey dish. First rate service. Enjoyed the entertainment and the bar as well. Will be back.
The gravy on the mashed potatoes was not to warm. Maybe the plate sat to long before serving. Other than that our visit to Melvyn’s was delightful.
Impeccable style and service. Second year for thanksgiving at Melvyn’s and not sure how we managed before finding are way here. Pre fixe menu. Cocktails from the classic bar started our culinary journey. I had the turkey which was sublime and everything thanksgiving should be (except for the Brussels sprouts, which I heard from my table mate were delicious. I’ll never put one in my mouth-obviously a personal preference and not a reflection of the quality preparation). The beef marrow pie was incredible and a nice alternative from the thanksgiving fare. Butternut squash soup, served in an actual squash was excellent and special. Pecan pie for dessert. Old school charm combined with modern food prep makes for a perfect meal.
This is our third visit to Melvyns. And it keeps getting better. We were greeted like family. And then the Thanksgiving feast began. A memorable experience. The food is fantastic And you feel surrounded by Palm Springs history. The service is impeccable.
We just bought a house here in the valley. Can’t wait to come back.
This isn't like Mel's Melvyn's was. I hosted a group of friends for Thanksgiving dinner. It was an embarrassing disappointment. The corn bisque was served tepid. The squash bisque was served cold, returned to the kitchen and then served tepid. It's a shame because both tasted great. The scampi pasta came with shrimp too tough to cut with a steak knife. The beef and bone marrow pie was fine. The prime rib came with horseradish sauce which lacked horseradish, cold under cooked asparagus, and turkey gravy on the mashed potatoes. The pumpkin and pecan pies were great, although the ice cream accompaniment was nearly melted. Coffee was the only thing served hot. The waiter had to be reminded to bring a forgotten soup and glass of wine. The server set the wrong utensils between courses, all of which had to be reset by the waiter. The roof leaked rain inches behind my seat. We could have done better at several everyday restaurants in Palm Springs for half the money.
Last time we were there we were offered bread prior to the meal and this didn't happen this time. Had to ask for pepper for the meal.
Great Palm Springs restaurant. Old school all the way. A lot of food, come hungry. Martini person? - have Melvyn's martini, they even bring extra 'dirt' for you to use. Had the beetroot wellington, for the vegetarians, it was ok. The Mac and cheese is good, crunchy topping. Go for the ambience.
No longer the Melvyn’s we have known over the last decade. Menu cut back to include only grilled meats and fish dishes. Excellent Chicken pot pie still available, but if you want anything else you will need to be elsewhere. Prices up too and drink portions down. Still excellent service.
The value is not there , too expensive and it is a menu that is mediocre. My order was not correct, cutlery was removed and not replaced. We felt an over emphasis on up-selling and the MaitreD needs a personality adjustment . First and last time for us .
Melvyn's is a Palm Springs Gem. If you are looking for a classic "Rat Pack/Sinatra" experience, then Melvyn's is your place.
We chose to dress for the occasion and were rewarded by Matt the Maître 'D with the best table and most requested in the house: Frank Sinatra's corner table. Matt jokingly said he'd have to change my reservation name to "Mr. S" and even called my wife Eva.
The food was excellent. They are undergoing a menu change, but the Palm Springs classic dishes are being preserved and are highly recommended. There is a superb collection of great steaks from a petit Filet to the Tomahawk Chop Ribeye.
We chose to go for the classics: I had Escargot and Steak Diane which was prepared and flambé style table-side by our waiter and my wife had Chicken Pot Pie. She said it was THE BEST she'd ever had and wanted to come back for lunch the next day to order it again.
The cocktails were served promptly, and we were entertained by a Jazz Piano player who sang and played some great classics and even some contemporary tunes.
I had their Cheesecake for dessert which was the Chef's mother’s recipe and it was a home run.
Melvyn's is located in downtown Palm Springs in the Ingleside Inn and is a spectacular way to celebrate your time in Palm Springs.
We enjoyed the ambiance and our Tomahawk Ribeye steak.
We will see you again.
A stable classic for elegant dining in Palm Springs, evoking the charm of yesteryear, but with a modern menu, served with grace.
Best restaurant experience in Palm Springs. Old charm done new. Highly recommend for a night out. Exceptional service started from the moment we walked in with the Matt. Great music. Great food.
We love meeting our friends at Melvyn’s, because we adore Brian and the staff, the interior is calm and welcoming, and the cuisine has improved greatly with the new chef. We all enjoyed our brunches, one of us selecting an always tasty Cobb Salad and for the rest of us, the delicious Chicken Club Sandwich with crispy slab bacon by request. Lots of attention from José and always a warm hello from Roberto. Let’s also mention the welcoming and very nice parking Valet, who is the first to greet us upon arrival! Sorry, Brian you get Second Place, but we still love you! See you soon!
My husband and I were so happy to get a weekend away from our four small kids and have nice dinners. Perhaps we expect to much! However for a 650- dinner for two nice bottle of wine and dinner to take so long and to be honest not good/. We will not be back! I was packed I’m so confused because clearly the People there do not know what a real steak taste like and that it takes 2 hrs to get food. My biggest pet peeve they apologized but not even Diet Coke taken off 650- for really bad food and service!!!!!!!!!!
This is the perfect restaurant for grownups. Meaning - not trendy, no screaming millennials, good drinks and very good service.
The captain is professional and welcoming. bartender makes a "correct" drink and waiters are old school.
Have been a number of times and will go back.
We had a wonderful evening at Melvyn’s. The filet mignon and steak Diane were excellent. Creamed corn was not as great - kind of like regular corn with some cream added. That’s the only complaint we had. Service was great, and the ambience and noise level were perfect for a couple celebrating a birthday. We highly recommend Melvyn’s for a special occasion or just a really nice meal.
This was my first time dining at Melvyn's and it was even better than anticipated.
The ambiance is SPECTACULAR and the service was excellent. My salmon entrée melted in my mouth.
I'm already planning to return with family.
Really has that old time elegant dining feel. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. Drinks are very generous and good. We had very good salads and a dinner of mashed potatoes and 6 ounce fillet. Here is where the problem comes in. At the prices we paid, the steaks should have been prime. They were not. Just not tender and juicy as prime steak should be. That impacted the meal and experience in a negative way. I want to come away feeling that I spent a lot of money on a great meal and have no regrets.
Great as always. We’ve been coming to Melvyn’s for decades and will keep coming back for decades. One of the absolute best in the desert.
Maitre’d and waiters were not friendly, service was lacking.
Went there to celebrate friendship. We are never disappointed. Always a great experience.
We had an amazing evening. We were greeted by the maitre de and he was delightful. We started in the lounge with a wonderful cocktail. The staff was friendly and knowledgable. Dinner was fantastic. Wines were reasonable and had a nice variety. We will be back!!
Wonderful Anniversary Brunch. Quiet and a special place to celebrate. Robert our Server was wonderful and made sure we enjoyed our Brunch.
We were warmly greeted at this quintessential Palms Springs Inn/restaurant where we enjoyed a delicious brunch. Can’t wait to return for dinner!
Great service. Great food. The wife had the Steak Diane. I enjoyed the beef Wellington. Everything came out as ordered. The waiter was on point. Food was some of the beat that I have had in years. We tried the oysters. They were excellent! The place is a little pricy but you pay for what you get. It was a great overall experience and would highly recommend for a Birthday or anniversary. Will be back again next year hopefully.
