The name Melina is rooted in Greek origin and derives from the Greek word for "honey". "Mel" can be derived from the name Melissa meaning "honey-bee". The restaurant is named after the daughter of Co-Founder Chef Dimitri Moshovitis. “Melina” will honor the strength of the matriarchy in the Greek family. Poor experience. Everything was just mediocre. The entree was too salty to eat and was sent back to the kitchen. Service was mediocre. Drinks were mediocre. Just a “meh” place.

The setting is relaxing. The food was fresh. The cocktails were refreshing. The highlight of the meal was our server. He was jovial and made great recommendations. Based on this experience, I will come back again!

We have loyal fans of Melina for years. It started with Cava Mezze at Eastern Market. Everything we had was delicious from the Melina salad, baked feta, branzino, crispy potatoes and drinks. We always sit at bar and the staff is outstanding.

Fabulous place with delicious food (but note it’s loud). There is a lively corner booth at able for six if you need a quieter location. Food cannot be equaled.

I have eaten at Melina's for dinner a number of times and brought other friends there for dinner too. I thought the food and the service/servers made it one of the the best places in the DMV and the best restaurant close to Bethesda One night when there were 5 of us, we kept on trying just about everything on the menu and dish after dish were winners. Today I took a friend out for her birthday expecting it to be great. The waitress was very good, suggesting two wines that we each enjoyed a glass of. We ordered the spinach salad with chicken, pickled onions and feta and it was delicious. The thigh meat chicken came on skewers just like the chicken dish they have on the dinner menu. If you like your chicken moist, using thigh meat makes a huge difference and they use a fantastic marinade because there is a special taste that makes it moist and delicious. Would love to know what is in the marinade. I hope they NEVER stop putting that on their menu. The 2nd dish was the fried potatoes with tzatzitki sauce. The potatoes were not freshly cooked, not even warmish - just hard and stale tasting. Our reservation was at 1 and I suspect that if we had come earlier the food would have been fresher. Seemed like it was left over from the cooking during the lunchtime rush. We left most of it. So that was a big disappointment. Also, no bread was offered or suggested which was surprising.
