A very creative menu, very fresh ingredients. You can tell everything is made to order. Unbelievable value for Main Street Sarasota. Service was impeccable. The best dining experience we have had in Sarasota in a while. And thank you for taking this crazy virus seriously. Masks were worn and every other table was sat.
We are only dining outdoors and at restaurants that have generous spacing. I called ahead and asked for a table “ at the edge” of their expanded space on the street. And they honored that request! Very generous service, even hand sanitizer at the table. Food was delicious, we had dined here a year ago when we were visiting friends in the area and it’s even better. Can’t wait to go back. The short rib dish was the best I’ve ever had.
MeLange ALWAYS exceeds expectations!!!! The food is the most inventive in Sarasota resulting in the most delicious taste sensations. Now that they are open for lunch, several varieties of crepes have been added to the menu which are absolutely divine!
Melange has been one of my favorite restaurants and I’m always excited to return!

I've been to Melange countless times, but this was my boyfriend's first visit. He's a bona fide foodie and pretty tough to impress. Everything about our experience at this restaurant exceeded our expectations. The menu is creative and eclectic, the staff is attentive and knowledgeable and the cocktails are as unique as the food they offer. All of this exists in an intimate venue that is beautiful and inviting and just outside the door of the restaurant is vibrant Downtown Sarasota. Menu favorites include the duck brie crepes, wild boar bao buns (which were on special the night we visited), beef short ribs, mushroom strudel (just WOW!!) and the vanilla lavender creme brûlée is a must.

Food was absolutely outstanding. Really well done, in both taste and presentation. Our server Tommy was great, and overall this was an incredible value. I’ve had meals half as good that cost me two times as much. That is not an exaggeration.
Melange is our favorite restaurant in Sarasota. We have been going for years now. The menu is thoughtful and prepared flawlessly. Great touches like scented hand sanitizer, lemon towels, homemade honey and breads, etc. Their menu has been reduced due to the pandemic, but it's exceptional. They sprinkle in a couple specials each night to spice things up. At the moment, don't miss the cheese board, scallops, asparagus salad and beef short rib. We book through Open Table and request an outdoor seat, just to be safe. The table was ready with our name on it. Wait staff is highly skilled. They not only know the menu inside and out, but also make their own craft cocktails and can educate you on ports and sherries for after dinner drinks. Don't miss the speak easy next door. They are open during the pandemic and offer late bites...
This place felt like a hidden gem! The food went beyond our expectations. We split the carb soup, duck spring rolls, and tuna tartare and everything was well seasoned, perfectly cooked, and very fresh. The waiters were attentive and helpful. Would absolutely come back here again.
It was an excellent restaurant and food. Brad was fabulous as a server and we loved the food! Excellent food, service and ambiance. Definitely recommend!!
The food was excellent. The wait staff friendly. Service was very slow. We were there for 3 hours! Service time may be shorter under usual circumstances when there is not a pandemic.
Our waiter forgot to input our main course order. We sat there for a very long wait between appetizer & entree. At first we didn’t pay much attention to the ugly dark colors & cheap decor, but as we ran out of things to talk about - we usually don’t (my husband & I were nearing the end of our bottle of Pinot noir when the waiter finally showed up and asked if we wanted to order desserts). We replied that we were still waiting on our main course. He apologized. He had forgotten to input our entrees. So, we laughed it off & waited. He was not on top of his game. Then, as he was removing the ‘huge’ plates from dinner, he spilled an 8 oz tumbler of water in my husband’s lap. My husband did not get upset at the waiter. In fact, we all down played it bcz we felt sorry for him. He clearly was not very astute. We were having a nice time otherwise & didn’t want to draw any more attention than the scene that was already created. We are well traveled and understand things like this happen occasionally. We expected management would do the right thing. But when it came time to pay our bill, not only did we NOT get a visit from the manager to apologize for the accident, we were charged in full for our dinner, and cocktails, and wine. My husband’s meal was not comped, we were not discounted in any way whatsoever for our portion of the bill (we had asked for separate checks in advance). My husband was the bigger person. He did not want to cause a scene or haggle. We just wanted to get the heck out of there. We waited patiently for the forgotten entrees, we didn’t create a scene when the water was poured all over, and we were pleasant towards the waiter and manager while we waited for the mess to get cleared. We didn’t take a bunch of photos or speak harshly. We did the right thing. Shame on this place for not doing the same. On a Friday night? Make sure your staff is proficient. If they make a mistake, do right by your customer. They are essential to your business.

A very elegant service, with fresh flatware provided for each course, warm terrycloth to clean hands before dining, amuse bouche. The nicest meal we've had in Sarasota to date.
Amazing and unique food, the people are wonderful and always pleasant.
Lovely experience with excellent service. Duck Spring rolls, Rangoons as well as the Asparagus salad were all excellent. My husband enjoyed the Beef Short Rib immensely. My grouper was a little "fishy", which was surprising as it is typically mild. I would still return and try another entree. Our friend enjoyed the Mushroom Strudel.

I cannot believe that we hadn’t tried this spectacular restaurant before! It has been open for over a decade, as long as we have been in Sarasota. We’ve walked by it a thousand times, and never thought to go in. And then we saw that it was one of the 10 best restaurants in Sarasota magazine. Boy, are they right. My husband and I treated the menu like a tapas menu, got 5 dishes, and shared each one in order. Out of this world dishes were the vegetable buns (which were actually these amazing mushroom “meatballs” in fold over steamed buns) and the beef short ribs. Rabbit tacos and mushroom strudel were incredible. And the duck crepes were really good, too. Wish we had room for the bread pudding, but there is always next time! Our server, Malina, is one of the best servers in the city.
My favorite restaurant, period. Service is friendly, welcoming and attentive. Food is unique and delicious; an eclectic menu of delightful choices. The alcoholic drinks are also creative and special. Melange receives my highest praise. I always visit when in Sarasota.
We went to celebrate my friend's birthday. This was our second time dining at Mélange. The chef sent a couple of complimentaty 'small' bites one appetizer and then after the meal a sweet treat.
The food was wonderful , we had the foie gras and the lamb belly...the flavors were ALL PERFECT. Thank you for a fantastic experience and the kind attention for my friend's birthday. Melina was our waitress assisted by Clara...Melina's knowledge and great explanation of the menu were outstanding!!!
Amazing creative menus by the chef here. Dining experience in line with true culinary art of flavors. Presentation was delightful and eclectic menu made dining at Melange an unforgettable experience.
The cheese and seafood boards had a varied palette, trout, short ribs and scallops Mac and cheese were prepared with perfection. I wouldn’t recommend the lamb belly though- far too gamey. Everything else was fantastic!
Great meal and service. Food was interesting, cooked perfect and very reasonable. Sweet breads were delicious. The chicken and waffles dishes was excellent and the lamb belly was very good.

Not great. Menu looked interesting on line, but entrees came with a handful of undressed arugula, no sides. Server was untrained. Very mediocre dining experience.

Most of the food was excellent. Short rib, bean salad, scallops all had wonderful flavors. Prices are decent. The only downside was our server was slow and seemed new, not familiar with her job. Will return for the food.
We always enjoy our time at Melange, with creative courses, skilled preparation and an inspired cocktail list. Chef Lan incorporates a number of regional styles into her dishes, making it necessary to return to try the menu item you were thinking of ordering but didn't. Lamb, duck crepes and scallops were stand-outs at our recent dinner there. After 12 years, Melange remains at the top of our restaurant list. If you appreciate an out-of-the-ordinary dining experience, try it.

Food was very good. Unusual menu with a mix of the familiar and exotic. Service was barely ok. It took half an hour after our wine was served to have our order taken.

We chose this restaurant based on reviews, and were somewhat disappointed. The chef is clearly very talented, but we found things to be under seasoned, plating wad sloppy, and the hipster wait staff was so busy talking with each other that we had a hard time being served.
My husband‘s dish had a cream sauce, which tasted more like school paste than anything else. He asked our server for salt, and she said “we season to the chefs Taste. No salt for the tables. We are one of those restaurants.“ I had a hard time not coming back with a comment related to the fact that it is high season on the Florida gulf coast, and they had four tables of guests and all the rest were empty. Perhaps they should rethink their attitude.
The space is lean and spare and modern, very attractive in a mid century way. The wine list was excellent, and if the food had tasted anything like the descriptions on the menu this place would have been packed. I think if they tried just a little harder, they could have a really good restaurant here. As it is, it’s just ordinary, and that’s being generous.
Food was very good except for one of the dishes being a very small portion so had to order an extras dish to compensate.
