Melange Ratings and Reviews
Our second time dining here in just a few weeks, this time with family, and everyone enjoyed it. Food was great, they accommodate special diets and vegan, nice ambiance, in a shopping center but does not have that feel inside. Great local discovery for us. We will be back.
It has been too long since we have eaten here. It is too bad that this restaurant is a bit far from our home so we do not make it very often, but we have been very happy every time; this visit was no exception. The food and the service are outstanding. I really like coming here with a group so we can eat family style because I would not want to be limited to only have 1 entree. While it was moderately busy when we were there, I am always surprised that Melange is not more crowded given how good it is.
I was having lunch with a colleague who works in the area and we wanted to try something "different." Melange was a great find, especially as it is in an area that feels and looks very "corporate beige." The service was impeccable; even the owner stopped by our table to inquire how our lunch went. The interior is lovely; rich colors and nice seating. The menu is a good mix of unique items. However, the chef will easily modify anything on it to taste. I can't wait to try them for dinner.
I was looking for something different, near my hotel in Parsippany. There was not much to choose from, but I was very pleased to find Melange. I was also lucky that the owner was present, who is quite a lovely person. We have a brief but very pleasant conversation and she is most earnest in her work, and proud of her restaurant. The service was quick, but not too fast, and the food was great. I asked the owner for an appetizer and main course recommendation. The fish cakes were perfectly prepared, as was my main course. I highly recommend this restaurant!
Pad Thai and Singapore noodles very good but lacking in quantity of chicken. Truly paltry amount of protein which required an up charge making the dish cost over $15. Really should cost $8 and come with a soup or spring roll. My wife's grilled tilapia had to be sent back as the vegetables....requested instead of rice...were cold; the fish portion, like the aforementioned chicken portion, was tiny for the most expensive dish on the menu at $25. That killed the restaurant for me unless they were to send us a gift certificate for a return visit.
Consider Melange for your next dinner near Parsippany. The southeast Asian flair adds an interesting mix of spice, Indian and Chinese favors to come up with interesting dinners. Service was slow but we enjoyed the Jasmine tea and conversation. Our salmon, lettuce wraps, chili fish and spicy chicken dinners were worth the wait. Lovely owner makes you feel welcome
We travel for work and our group eats out every day of the week. This is only the second place in Parsippany/Morristown area that we returned to for another meal. The other was Il Capriccio. In fact we went to Melange two nights in a row and a few said they wanted to go back again tomorrow. The Jasmine tea, lettuce wraps (spicy), salmon, spicy crispy fish, Mongolian beef and chicken stir fry were all excellent.
I would go back just for the owner, she was extremely pleasant as was the rest of her staff. There weren't many people there so you could hear individual conversations pretty well. We got the rice noodles with meat, very typical Asian with a lot of food. I would suggest asking for less sauce.
Looking for a good dinner spot near hotel we were staying at in Parsippany, NJ, just happened to run across the listing on Yelp & Open Table for Melange and what a great find! French Thai/Pan Asian, really mostly Chinese and Thai, run by an Indian and Nepalese staff! Excellent food, reasonable prices, but note it is BYO. In a suburban office park right off main highways 46/80/287 and easy parking but not that easy to find the right strip mall where it is located. Right near Sheraton and Hyatt House. Wouldn't go far out of my way but if you're in the vicinity or staying at one of those hotels don't miss it!
Our foursome visited Melange for it's convenient location and menu including vegetarian dishes. The group hadn't been together in a year so there was a lot to talk about. The service was perfect. They did not rush us and we were able to enjoy good food and good conversation. We will be back again, for sure.
We found Melange accidentally through Open Table and have eaten there a number of times. We especially like the Manchurian cauliflower and the curries. Siobahni, the owner is so lovely and makes guests feel as though they are dining in her home. My only suggestion is that it would be nice if they updated the menu occasionally or offered specials. But everything we've tried is wonderful.
Easy parking. Quiet, nice ambiance - but not great food.
The four items we had- shrimp dumplings, vegetable dumplings (almost no flavor, odd & sweet dipping sauce), chicken sate (not good), chicken lollipops (the only tasty item, but very salty)- were not worth eating.
Unfortunate this was $40!
