Very good Indian food. Small space limits tables. Outdoor space available when weather is ok.
As you can see this is one of my favorites. The food and service never disappoint. I love their garlic naan and the lentils. Stop in and enjoy
I’m a huge foodie and health care provider who has not been able to enjoy the wonderful offerings of our local restaurants due to the present covid chaos. During such stressful times where caution is appropriate but sanity is important, Mela was the perfect choice. The outdoor seating was great and we were warm with the gas lamps. The staff were really attentive with excellent service and provided great humor throughout the dining experience. The food was fantastic and the cocktails were amazing. From a date, to takeout, to a get together with friends (covid responsible for course), Mela is the spot for you...
I booked a reservation at Mela and could not have been happier!
I get take out from here all the time, and was excited to finally go in person. I got the Paneer Chili, and I highly recommend it - it was so good, especially with some onion kulcha. The food came super quickly and the noise level was really low, so I could easily hear the person I was with.
Definitely recommend!
Delicious food and great service. Very romantic
My favorite Indian spot!
Great service and the food is absolutely delicious.
A favorite in the South End! Every dish is delicious
Love it here! 10/10 would recommend!
Great food and service!
My favorite Indian food in Boston. Lovely dinner out side.
We were greeted and sat outside, the service was excellent and the food delicious. The menu items we selected were the butter chicken, vegetable samosas, naan, and a mango lasi . A huge thanks goes out to the staff, you were awesome and we highly recommend this spot!
Great selection - the specialty cocktails were a surprise standout and the mezzanine plate was a great way to try everything.
What made the evening was the staff - So Kind and solicitous.
This is a good spot to have a quick, inexpensive meal in the South End.The menu is extensive and there are good vegetarian options. There's lots of beer and wine options (there is a full bar). Everything about the place is fine, nothing exceptional. We were going to a show at Calderwood so it worked out well. I would recommend it for all these reasons.
Good Saturday buffet!!
I hadn't been to Mela in years, and I was pleased that it was as good as I remembered. I highly recommend it.
Overwhelming smell of Lysol/ cleaning supplies during entire visit. Terrible service. We felt invisible. We were never checked on during the meal after food was dropped in table. No background music—just noise from kitchen and staff speaking loudly back and forth. All staff in other room eating dinner together while we were completely ignored. Very clean bathroom. Mediocre food/ small portions. Overall, VERY disappointing.
Great pre-theater location. Very friendly staff, excellent spices. You smell the wonderful flavors as soon as you open the door to the restaurant.
Food is ok, service is not very good. Mostly because servers are not well-trained.
Always a favorite of ours. Not too busy on a snowy Saturday night. The combination meals for two are a excellent value.
Good food. Pleasant and friendly waitstaff. Would recommend scrapping the tablet for taking orders -- a pen and a pad would have been more efficient.
Our party of four enjoyed the food and the ambience. Will look forward to eating here again.
Have now eaten at Mela several times. Food and service are consistently excellent. Have had a variety of dishes and never been disappointed. Restaurant is small and tables close together so perhaps not the best spot for intimate dinner but highly recommend overall
They did not honor our OpenTable reservation on a holiday. What's the point of being open? Rude on Christmas Eve with plenty of room in the place?
Delicious flavors
Mela offers the most romantic/put-together ambiance of any Indian restaurant I've been to in the Boston area over the years. I highly recommend the lunch buffet for variety and value. The chicken dishes are perfectly tender, although later at lunch time, the meat items get diluted with less meat and more sauce. Service was on top of removing plates and managing drinks, unlike some Indian buffets in the area.
Food was mediocre. Server was rude, unhelpful with questions about the menu, and refused to clean the table! We'll never return!
Excellent service and food. The mango mimosa was phenomenal. New favorite Indian Restaurant in Boston.
Excellent food and solid service. Second visit. Consistent thus far.
Vegetarian appetizer was okay. Chicken Vindaloo was awesome! Clove, cardamom, hot peppers, and layers of flavor to mull over while you let the sweat on your eyelids evaporate.
Excellent food and attentive service. A great spot before theater.
Pleasant all-round. The menu is fairly standard Indian, with a few things you might not find elsewhere.
Great service and food!! Highly recommend this place
This was a very nice, elegant Indian restaurant. The service Was on point and the food was served very very quickly to my surprise. I highly recommend this restaurant for the authentic Indian experience
Food was fantastic but restaurant was hot and service was terrible. Our waiter barely spoke English and we had trouble communicating. The bartender had to come help him several times. Wine was served warm, and it was a $58 bottle of Sancerre. When we finished and the plates were cleared they came by and put down the check without even asking if we wanted anything else.
The ambience was lacking as well. The host stand by the entrance had a coat rack right behind it with a lot of the employees personal clothes hanging on it. It looked tacky.
I would recommend this place for takeout only. The food is really quite good, but the dining in experience is not.
This restaurant has gone downhill. The wait staff constantly turns over. The wine prices have soared. The ambiance was nonexistent on my last visit, with the lights turned brightly on.
We enjoy Mela’s traditional Indian cuisine; the best in my view!
Was sitting next to a large group that was very noisy. Manager moved us to another seat that was very quiet from then on.
Delicious food
Very nice server
Sweet ambiance
If I lived in Boston this would be my go to restaurant
Best Indian restaurant in Boston. Unpretentious. Good food with excellent variety. Service is attentive. Noise level is good even when the restaurant is full.
