MEET in Paris Ratings and Reviews
Service was a bit slow. Food was very good. No acknowledgement for birthday we were celebrating, even though it was mentioned both in the reservation and when we checked in. They don't seem to read their email...I sent a question twice regarding parking and no response. I then had to call to find out that they have no parking available; you are on your own. I would recommend with above caveats.
We dined here before going over to the theater and the meal was enjoyed by all. They have a nice wine selection and the menu has some options for everyone. The duck pate was especially delicious as was the beef tartare. We also enjoyed their chocolate cake with melting center. Parking can be an issue in this area, however, we lucked out a with a place right in front and an easy walk to the theater after dinner. The restaurant is small with a nice patio area. Attentive service. We were very pleased.
There's a lot to like about this place. The setting is great -- right on Culver Blvd with lots of street action. It can be noisy sometimes -- we had two or three police cars with sirens roar by. But nothing that ruins the meal. The food is solid. My salmon salad was good, as was my guests salmon crepe. And we had fried calamari to start. My only hesitation in marking the place higher in service is that the servers need to find a balance between hovering and hanging back. Honestly, I hadn't even had a bite of my salmon when the waiter wanted to know how everything was. There seems like multiple people hanging about asking us numerous times how things were. And of course when we wanted the bill, I had to wave someone down! I know it's hard -- and in fact I commend the servers for not coming to clear my plate while my guest was still eating; too many restaurants do that -- but you need to sometimes trust your customers to call you over when things aren't right instead of making it not right by constant interruptions.
Reminiscent of the outdoor French cafes in Paris, it is just steps away from the Kirk Douglas theater. Best French Onion soup I have had in LA. The profiteroles were very good. The wait staff was very attentive and quick! The tables are close together and the tabletops are a little small when all the food arrives - but not a big deal. We will be back!
I have never been more disappointed in a restaurant. I just returned from France last week and was looking forward to some good French food. The meal started out with hard bread and butter that tasted like it had freezer burn. We asked for new butter. That one tasted like it had been in the fridge for weeks...so horrible. It took 4 times to get fresh butter.
Then we ordered a bottle of Sancerre for $71. Stupidly I checked Vivino after our meal and saw that the retail price was $18. I understand inflating the restaurant price but this was excessive.
My boeuf bourgougne was tasteless. Service was so slow. We asked to speak to the manager who was defensive and basically said there was nothing she could do, and that the butter is replaced every week. Well that is not good enough. I will never be going back. This is a disgrace to French food.
My guest and I ordered the Ham and Cheese Egg Benedict for a quick lunch. The server was efficient and got us finished before the Kirk Douglas Theatre matinee on a Sunday.
Love the decor and atmosphere of the bistro feel of Meet in Paris. Noise level so loud, it is almost impossible to have a conversation with table mate even at a small table for two.
Excellent food but at the worst table. I made a reservation 3 days in advance for my anniversary and when we arrived we got out pick of 2 of the worst tables in the restaurant. We chose right by the door and while the food was amazing, the table kind of ruined our anniversary dinner. The restaurant was very busy at 6:30 on a Friday but there were larger tables available. The restaurant is very French authentic in terms of food and ambiance. We will probably go back again but not on a Friday.
Food was delicious but service was terribly slow. Both tables on either side of us got served before us, even though they were seated after us. Took 15 minutes to get water. Mussels were outstanding. We had reservations for 6:15 and a show next door at 8:00, and barely made it. Didn't have time to think about ordering dessert.
Meet in Paris is a dreadful name but a pleasant neighborhood place. The food is good and generally but not completely French. The steak tartare is quite good but the coq au vin is dry. The restaurant can be somewhat noise inside when full so book a table on the pleasant patio.
Charming classic French restaurant near the Kirk Douglas Theatre in Culver City.
We sat in their patio which is fine with good weather.
We both tried the duck confit, which was tasty, though too many brussel sprouts.
The dessert cobbler was too sweet. they should cut back on the sugar.
