Excellent restaurant inspired menu
We had a dinner in Sunday night, two of us.
The food was great at an extremely competitive price.
Thanks to the team for their warm welcome and to the sommelière for her selection outstanding.
We love this restaurant and always come here for special occasions. The menu changes regularly so there is always something new to try, the ambience is delightful and the staff are very attentive and kind. They brought out an extra dessert for my sister's birthday. The value for money for lunch and Sundays is really impressive considering the quality of the food. Definitely recommend!
Very good quality food , medium portion size and fantastic presentation and flavour.
A real hidden gem
Beautiful and completely delicious food. A lovely atmosphere. Friendly and helpful staff. Just a wonderful place to enjoy a sumptuous meal
One cannot fault this excellent cooking - this was our first visit to this professional yet relaxed restaurant.
Amazing food, service and wine. Medlar is our go to restaurant for all special occasions!
What a delight fantastic service ,the food was outstanding the best meal we have had for ages.if you go carefully on the wine choice then it was ok value Im not surprised the restaurant was packed what a joy will be going again..soon!
The food I had was outstanding and worth every penny. Interesting and unusual with combinations that really work. The pastry of the Duck Egg Tart was crisp and delightful. The grouse was beautifully cooked, easy to eat and served with a purée that was sublime and damsons that were an excellent accompaniment without being too sweet. The parsnip strips were excellent too - indeed, every little feature worked. My fellow diners were having similar joy with their own dishes. The chocolate mousse to follow was again delectable without being sickly and the little things with the excellent coffee and tea (particularly the passion fruit marshmallows) were again a delight to the taste buds.
The wines were an interesting collection but I did feel they had been priced too steeply. It is a common fault of good restaurants but I suppose there are people who will pay it. Compare with Le Colombier in Dovehouse St where the senior wines are priced extremely reasonably because they like to see people drinking them. I’m not saying it was outrageous. Certainly not. Just steep! I found a recent Croze Hermitage which was very drinkable but it was £60. Anyway that is just my opinion.
Service is impeccable; polished, charming, efficient, knowledgeable and attentive. They should be prized as an excellent and first-class team.
The real disappointment is the ambience which is frankly rather dull. It’s largely the shape of the building (not their fault) which gives it depth but not much width and it lacks, I am afraid, any special feeling or magic which is a shame given the excellent food and service and very good wine. The chairs (in particular) and the tables are a bit uninspiring as is the decor. I think they ought to look at that and get some assistance on enhancing the atmosphere in an admittedly quite challenging space.
Certainly really worth visiting for brilliant food served by a first-class staff.
A very interesting lunch menu at reasonable price. Our (reviewer plus partner) main courses in particular - Grouse, and Belly Pork - were outstanding. Service is attentive without being intrusive.
Really lovely food and good service in general but could be more attentive, for example they didn’t pour more water when our glasses were empty. Also, we ordered a dessert that was meant for two people, but they didn’t give us a knife and fork for cutting. When we looked surprise and asked, we were told we could use one of our knives and forks that for eating(?) However, the service was friendly and efficient overall.
Must be one of the best value for money fine dining restaurants in London
Everything was exceptional. Menu good choices. Attentive staff. Food perfectly cooked.
The food was very good and well presented. The service was attentive and pleasant. The wine was
excellent, but not inexpensive. The ambiance was somewhat lacking at 12.30pm on a Friday but gradually improved as more tables became occupied.
Exceptional food and such great value. Brilliant sommelier too. Very highly recommended
Ex Chez Bruce and follows that model: lunch is a real bargain at £30 for 2 courses (£35 for 3).
Excellent modern European cuisine, good wine list, great service. Space a little dated perhaps and could feel cramped?
Outstanding at the price. Pride taken in everything. Would highly recommend.
This was our first visit to Medlar and we were extremely impressed. Everything was a treat!
Fantastic meal with friends...great cocktails, wines and food. This has given us a reason to be in this area of town more often!
As always-outstanding dinner on special occasion or to treat yourself and loved ones without any occasion. Mouthwatering food, great service, relaxing ambience. No one rushes you to leave - truly recommend this place, and planning to come back.
Also, this time we saw family with the baby accommodated. And it was amazing to see - since I am expecting myself and I know there are some restaurants that would not welcome buggies or babies :)
An excellent restaurant with delicious food and faultless service.
Terrific service, lunch was flawless, very kind and corkage friendly.
One of the best restaurants in London
As always, a thoroughly enjoyable experience: the only problem is that everything looks so good that it's hard to decide. Brilliant execution of interesting dishes, always astoundingly creative. Front of house team are also outstanding: observant, friendly and efficient.
We're so fortunate to live close by.
Good quality restaurant with attentive service in a decent setting.
Wonderful in every aspect!
0,1l hlas of white wine was GBP 12 - check in advance.
Carefully crafted dishes were delicious and service was impeccable. An extra pud for my daughter's birthday was a lovely touch. It's a quiet restaurant, good for a tete-a-tete; on the Kings Road at the World's End end, so an interesting walk down from Sloane Square.
We love this restaurant and eat here every time we visit London. The food is consistently excellent. Wine choices are varied with an excellent range by the glass if you want to change wine with each course. The cheese board was perfect. Petit fours are a lovely end; I am particularly fond of the passion fruit marshmallows. The staff are professional but also will to engage with enthusiastic foodies!
A fantastic place for a relaxed lunch with friends
Medlar was better than ever this evening. Crab ravioli and beef were stunning, as was the really smooth German Pinot noir! The cheese was amazing too! Glad this place continues to do so well.
Great quality food with calm relaxing ambiance. We've been coming to Medlar 2-3 times / year and never failed to satisfy us. The only minor comment would be to renew the menu more often - some of the dishes have been there for the last 2-3 years at least.
Another lovely family lunch at Medlar - our fourth in the past 18 months. Our favourite go-to restaurant when meeting up in London - worth taking the taxi from Charing Cross as the experience is so much better in every respect than in any of the central London restaurants we have tried. You manage to maintain the consistency of your high standard.
Hang onto your staff - in the kitchen and in the dining room: they are all skilled, hardworking, and charming.
Thank you for making a meeting into a treat.
I hadn't been to Medlar in a very long time as I used to find the menu selection difficult. This time around there were lots of delicious things to eat and the four of us really enjoyed it. Thank you.
Food: some of the dishes were very good indeed though others just satisfactory.
Ambience: It is an underwhleming room.
Waiters: a good welcome by well-informed staff.
Our favourite restaurant in SW London: great food, service and the overall experience. Hidden gem that I highly recommend to all foodies!
Elegant food with excellent choice
Varied wine list
Quiet environment, ideal for romantic dinner/lunch
One of my top London restaurant choices
Will be returning as soon as possible!
Good food & service
Absolutely stunning restaurant - food was exceptional, staff were fabulous and just had the best evening.
Would highly recommend if wanting somewhere to go on a date night/anniversary!
This was the perfect venue for a business lunch. The food was excellent and the restaurant quiet enough for confidential conversation.
