Medium Rare in Columbia, MD offers an energetic atmosphere with "great food, drinks, and overall experience." The unique concept of serving entrees in two portions ensures hot meals throughout. While the menu is limited to steak frites, it's "cooked to perfection" and worth trying. Despite occasional service delays, staff are often "attentive and friendly." It was very busy. I do feel like if you have one thing on the menu, you should be an expert at cooking it. My steak came out overcooked. The gravy was decent tasting but nothing to rave about and the fries had an odd aftertaste. The salad was my favorite part. Overall I would not recommend.

Overall. Experience was good. The food, ambience, and friendliness of our server were all pretty good. We enjoyed our experience until it came time to pay. When we finished our meals, we waited about 20 minutes before we stopped a different server to request our check because it seemed our server seemed our server ghosted us. He obliged and brought our check a few minutes later. After this, we waited another 10-15 min before I got fed up and walked toward the host counter to have someone process the credit card. A host stopped me halfway and said she would take care of it. We were subsequently late to get to the show because of this hold up and would have been on time if it weren’t for the 30’ delay. Unfortunate given the good service up till that point

Service was great. I liked that there was a prefixed menu; steak with special sauce and shoestring fries. It was very tender and tasted great.

Did brunch celebrating Fathet's Day. The place was packed but our server, Brian, was so great. It was loud and tables were tight, but food was really good and came out hot and quickly. Didn't realize they are a prefixed menu restaurant. Brunch offered more options than dinner but I think that lends to the quality of food, which was good and portions plenty. Would definitely go again.

Service was slow which is unacceptable given they only have one menu item. Would prefer a better cut of steak for the price.

The salad is crisp and cold with just the right amount of tasty dressing. The bread was warm and plentiful. The fries are thin and tasty. The steak, ordered medium rare, came out somewhat flabby with no apparent grill marks or crust. It was smothered in a thick brown sauce that was too much for the meat. For those unfamiliar with Medium Rare the entree is delivered in two portions, a unique concept that ensures your meal will be hot as you enjoy it. That also allowed us to request sauce on the side so we could control how much is added. The wine selection is limited and served in small cheap glasses.

Our visit to Medium Rare was not as great as in the past. Our mistake was going on a concert night at Merriweather. We’ll be checking the schedule ahead of time. BUT we were still able to make a reservation, so we didn’t even think about a concert. It was incredibly crowded. All tables were full. It was nice to see the restaurant so busy. But it was incredibly loud. Between the music and people talking, we had a hard time hearing each other. Our server was either nee or did not want to work. I had to remind him we ordered a soft dtink. The margarita was brought out timely. We had to ask for more water. When we asked who was in concert, he replird, “I don’t know. It’s a country band.” Dave Matthews is NOT a country band. If you’re going to serve at this location, it would seem ifeal to know what’s happening across the street in case patrons, like us, were caught unaware. The food this time was “eh.” The meat was hot, but the fries were only warm and tasted like they sat under the heat lamp too long. It wasn’t our best experience this time. It was disappointing but lesson learned not to go there on a concert night.

Handled our party of 10 seamlessly and even turned down the music upon request. Great food, drinks and overall experience!

We've been to multiple locations for both the dinner and lunch and it's usually good. The brunch was okay, the poached eggs where practically raw but I guess that was what they where aiming for because it was consistent. Something about clear egg whites just isn't appealing to me. Usually you get a second sending of the steak and fries so it's warm where you eat it, only after we had ordered and eaten where we told that's doesn't happen for brunch wish we had known up front as I would have ordered differently. We will be back because the food is good but we'll skip the brunch. The service was okay but the person waiting on us seemed to forget everything we asked for and then didn't really know about the brunch food items. :-/
