It was good. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
If you go for brunch, do the steak and eggs instead of the steak frites. It's the same, but includes eggs, so you get more bang for your buck
Great food great environment friendly staff. Enjoyable experience eating outside.
The steak was good. It was a tiny bit cold when served. The key lime pie was average. too sweet and lacking in that bitter lemon taste and no meringue.
We went here for our anniversary. The food was fine other than the fries being overcooked. The wine we got also seemed like it might’ve been bad. The one thing that really bothered me was that it was our anniversary…and they did nothing to acknowledge it. I did check “Anniversary” on Open Table but nothing was done. Finally, I didn’t think the meal was worth over $100. Just not a great experience and I certainly won’t be in any rush to go back.
Simple, delicious food with great service. Menu is focused on what they do well.
We had a lovely anniversary diner on the outside seating area. The set menu makes things so easy ! The steak was delicious !
Thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Medium Rare! Food and service were exactly as expected.
Extremely noisy but excellent food and service
The food was delicious as always and came out quickly. My only complaint is the server, Azmie, seemed to be very rushed with our table especially when we didn’t order drinks. We were disappointed by his service and how he didn’t feel welcoming. He just assumed we had been to the restaurant before (which we have) but if we hadn’t been it would have been a very big shock not knowing what was happening.
Sat outside. The street was relatively calm and the tables weren't too close:)
This is our favourite restaurant great food and excellent service
It’s always delicious and fun at this restaurant. The ice cream dessert for birthdays come with a cool sparkler.
Food was great but the volume of the music made it hard to have a conversation
The service has gone from bad during our first visit to awful during our most recent 3rd and now final visit.
First time back since pandemic. As good as I remembered.
Extra salty food that the entire party of 7 agreed on, is not good. Indicates poor quality ingredients or a chef that doesn’t taste his own food. I couldn’t even eat the steak it was so salty but the Bloody Mary was good
I have never had a bad experience at Medium Rare. Brunch is a fabulous selection at a low cost. But don’t let the cost fool you about quality. The quality and taste of food is incomparable. They also have a realllllly good brunch playlist. Great ambiance and atmosphere.
Great food, attentive staff and a reasonable price
Food is consistently perfectly prepared, arrives at the table quickly. Our server was personable and eager to please. Sitting outside felt festive. A great experience, as always!
This really is one of the best restaurants in Bethesda right now. I've been there numerous times and it's always perfection. No menu choices. Just bread, salad, steak and fries. YUM. (You do get to choose cocktails, wine, and dessert) Very reasonable for the quality you get. The service is efficient and friendly at the same time. You really feel like you are in Paris. Wine list is short but every option is delicious. The best part is -- it's a great option for any family members who can't tolerate gluten. The only thing that ISN'T gluten free is the bread. The grill is only used for steak, the fryers ONLY fry potatoes, so there is no cross contamination. My husband and sister are celiac, and highly sensitive to any cross contamination, and they have NEVER gotten sick there. They've created a lovely outside seating area, I love it!
I had heard that they offer unlimited plates of steak and fries so I was a little disappointed when I finished my second plate and the waiter asked if we wanted to see the dessert menu. Still, the food was delicious and the desserts we ordered did a good job to “almost” fill us up.
Sitting outside under a tent was not ideal, tent was on the way, hitting us everything wind comes, and service took time and lack of polite attention. Food was good as expected.
Outside on street. Salad A. Steak. Frys B. Bread ( different than my many prepandemic experiences C. Desert A. Service very attentive and professional; only B. because we has to beg for a livable table with enough room and without plastic sheeting constantly blown upon us.
Excellent as always - great food and great service.
Fix menu it’s a surprise. The steak and the sauce are great. Our table is right under AC vent, freezing cold. Wasn’t changed despite the request. Slow service compared to the next table. Mother’s Day, yes I understand , but still .
We LOVE Medium Rare, but the last couple times we've been there, the service has been awful. They seem to care more about online orders/pick ups/uber eats than the customers dining in person. On Mother's Day we had a 5:30 pm reservation. We didn't receive our salads until 6:20 pm and that was after I said something to the waiter. There are only three items on the menu, salad, steak and fries... It shouldn't take almost a hour to get a simple salad. I really got mad when I saw a few tables get served before us and they sat down at least 20 mins after us. It didn't ruin Mother's Day, but we will probably try Capital Grill for Father's Day. It's a shame because the food is always good and it is my children's (age 11 and 9) favorite restaurant.
Ultimately, this restaurant has one selection to choose from. We drove three hours from Richmond and we can say it was not worth the drive.
First time at Bethesda location. We went for brunch and were so disappointed. Waited 15 minutes for water, 25 for drinks, over an hour for food... Then of course the food was cold and steak overdone, fried unsalted, poached egg cooked hard. Plus, our waiter tried to skip as much as he could... Had to ask for bread, pepper for the salad, more water, more drinks and he didn't even give us the standard Bazooka gum with our bill. Though by that time we were just ready to leave. I didn't come close to finishing my meal. They were busy, to be sure, but with all the time we had waiting, we saw multiple tables sit after us and get their food at a normal pace. The experience likely boiled down to our constantly missing waiter. Still, don't think we'll be back to this location. I've had much better luck at the Arlington location.
Preface: I was in the food & bev industry up until a year ago.
It was Mother’s Day, I knew it was going to be busy, and was okay with that.
What wasn’t okay was the following:
1. Server not introducing himself or taking the time to ask us questions. Jumped straight into order taking. I had never been there and had questions despite the limited menu.
2. Not checking in on us at all. My 9 year old wanted a different beverage other than water and never got the chance to order it because our server didn’t come back until we had stacked our plates up in a pile.
3. Had he checked in, he would’ve known that my steak was over cooked and my daughter & mother’s steak was undercooked.
4. My mom really enjoyed the green salad and wanted to get another serving. She didn’t get that chance because no one checked in on us.
5. I mentioned the above to the server when I was paying and he responded by patting me on the back and telling me that it was okay because management had him doing “a bunch of other stuff”.
They had overbooked and it was chaos. The entire staff was overwhelmed.
my eggs were not cooked when I asked for them to be scrambled dry. I asked for new ones and they never came so all I had was steak and fries. The drink refills were few and far between and it was Mothers Day and our waitress did not give us a rose like the other mothers were receiving. It was disappointing to say the least and I usually enjoy Medium Rare
Great as always. Love this place for brunch! Food is aways spot on and a great atmosphere.
It was absolutely wonderful and exceptional in service, taste and overall attention to details. Perfect Mother’s Day! Thank you all!
They were extremely busy but the food was excellent despite the crowd
Amazing experience. I love how the menu is always set and the food delicious. I did not enjoy the hibiscus margarita though. It definitely doesn’t go with steak and fries.
Should not take so many reservations or walk ins
It was quite busy, almost uncomfortably crowded. Not sure if 6 feet distance between tables was adhered to.
The music was rather loud. We had to shout across the table to hear each other. Towards the end of the meal, the volume was slightly lower.
Teenagers love this place. Always super loud.
Good place for a great steak dinner
