they were sensitive/ responsive to our request for a window table with space between tables
Very good just wish the orange juice had less pulp.
Two rounds of steak were served as part of fixed menu.. I did not want to eat that much. One round was plenty.
This was our first time to Medium Rare, but it won't be our last. Our server, Lauren, was very welcoming and had great suggestions for us about the wine and dessert options. At first it seemed strange to go to a place where everyone gets the same meal, but it ended up being a great thing for this indecisive couple -- no fussing about what to order, no regrets! Happened to sit next to a table with a birthday...no singing to embarrass anyone, but the sparkler on the cake was something special.
Great dinner with the family! The steak was amazingly good! And the key lime pie so fresh and delicious! I will definitely come back.
Delicious from start to finish! Prix fixe takes the guesswork out of a meal. You know it’s good, because it’s all they do. If you enjoy a decent steak, you will enjoy Medium Rare. It’s never going to be the best of the best, but it’s not going for that. I would definitely say that it’s the best of the best for the $24. Can’t beat the price, the service is wonderful, and the food is great.
You can always count on Medium Rare to deliver
Such a great deal for brunch! The salad dressing is AMAZING and I dream of the steak sauce. I’ll certainly be back!
It was nice to have a fixed menu where you only choose the doneness of the steak. The steak was cooked nicely, but some of it was sinewy and that made it unpleasant to eat. The sauce for the steak was very flavorful and tasty. The salad was good, except the dressing was a bit heavy for my taste (it was coated in the dressing). The service was good, but it was a busy night and probably a little slower than normal. I was looking forward to the bourbon apple cider, but it was too sweet for my taste and served hot in a wine glass vs a mug. Overall, we enjoyed our visit, but improvements could be made. If a different cut of steak was available, I'd probably return.
By far, my favorite restaurant across the world. That sauce!!!
Food was delicious.
Service could have been somewhat faster.
Would definitely return!!
The food was excellent and you honestly can't beat it for the price. Great for groups since everyone has to get the same thing so dealing with the check is a lot easier.
Quiet Wednesday evening, the restaurant wasn’t full. We ordered beer and wine that arrived when they delivered the bread. Salad came out soon after and then the main course. Medium Rare brings out second helpings?! What an awesome surprise! Hard to leave there without being full.
Always great place to good for a solid meal! The salad is one of my favorites.
This was the rudest service I have ever had. The host was surely from the time we entered and not helpful when we wished to change a table (to accommodate a hearing issue of one guest). When one of our party gently suggested to the waiter that he not reach in front of my face to serve a dish (to avoid a collision of my fork and the dish), the waiter actually got mean and threatened to withhold serving food. We all sat there at a standoff until the waiter decided to serve the food. We had interacted little with the waiter, so the waiter's aggression was shocking and uncomfortable.
We chose to soldier on, but the rest of the meal was lousy. Water was not re-filled, we had to flag the waiter for a glass of wine, and the meat was over-salted.
All but one of us had been there before, and this was to have been a fun meal. I'll never go back.
Great French steak house. The portion of food worth the money you pay. Also the have a delicious dessert. Go and enjoy.
Arrived to a chaotic and crowded entryway and was told that in spite of our reservation we would have to wait at least an hour for our table, along with around 25 other annoyed customers whose reservations were also ignored. Extremely disappointing.
Made a reservation for 7:30 and they told us we would have to wait 1 hour and 45 minutes.
It was the day after Valentine’s Day and a Saturday evening, and our wait was extremely long despite having a reservation. There didn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason to how people were being seated, which was frustrating. However, once we were finally seated, our server was excellent as was the food. Despite the initial confusion, we’d come back if we are ever in the area.
We made reservations for 7:15 pm on a Saturday. When we arrived it was utter chaos. Dozens of people were standing around. There did not appear to be any system for notifying patrons that their table is ready. We waited until 8 pm. After talking to other customers whose reservations were earlier than ours and who had still had not been seated, we left without eating. I later got an email at 9:30 pm letting me know that my table was ready.
Waited for over an hour for our reservation, shouldn't do reservations if they are unable to manage them! Rude, incompetent staff, one woman even hid in the kitchen instead of facing us after telling us we were next multiple times!
Had a reservation for 7pm. Expected 10 to 20 minute wait time. Didn't get seated until 7:45. Seemed way overbooked. With a prefix menu I'd think the restaurant could better estimate dining time and take reservations accordingly.
But I like the salad & break and love the steak & fries so I'll most likely be back. Just not on a Saturday night
The restaurant was packed, but the service was efficient and the food was great! A pleasant surprise to find that a second serving of the main course was part of the meal!
Food was good, but we waited for about 30 minutes past our reservation.
For a fixed menu, Medium Rare does not disappoint. They have steak and frites down to perfection. The value is excellent for the price.
Delicious food, great time celebrating my husband's 70th Birthday! We highly recommend getting reservations! We did have a reservation but many were waiting quite a while to be seated!
We had a 5 pm reservation when it was relatively empty inside. They put us in a corner cramped up against the loud speaker and it was too damn noisy. We asked for volume to be turned down, and they did for a short while. Didn't feel we received the correct amount of meat although what we had was flavorable. Fries were greasy. Salad was old -- lettuce wilted, tomatoes sour. First time to eat here ever and was not impressed. Also did not like sitting so close to strangers. Experience was not at all what we wanted or expected, especially for a birthday. Won't come back for special occasions, that's for sure. I am glad we tried the restaurant though as one never knows otherwise. I believe the 3.5 rating thou received is still a bit high but I tried to be nice and give you that, too.
We got there about 25 minutes earlier than our reservation, on Valentine’s Day, and were seated before a lot of people who had earlier reservations but came in late (so that was amazing). It took the waiter a while to get to us but was really sweet. She checked the ingredients for all the sauces and dressings for me (allergies plus dietary restrictions). It just took a long time to get our salads, then our first round, and our second round was even longer. The second round was smaller than the first which didn’t sit well with me, and was a little overcooked but it was still very very good. Pricey for only a culotte and thin fries but the quality was definitely there.
Very busy Valentine's Day evening. Wait staff stretched; still a pleasant evening.
It was my first time visiting Medium Rare and I wasnt aware of the Preset menu. I understand that I was unable to substitute the side, but the steak was too salty.
Always a good time and good meal at Medium Rare. We discovered this restaurant several years ago when they had a location near Capitol Hill. Glad to see they opened a location in Arlington.
Delicious food! Friendly and attentive staff! One of our favorite restaurants!
Definitely a good place - honestly no complaints - no frills, everything is the same, no deviation steakhouse. Medium Rare does 1 thing and it does it well.
Desserts were amazing and like the rest of the place, an awesome value. The cocktails were great but they only had one woman at the bar. She was awesome but slammed. Stay with beer, wine and neat pours.
Recommended by a friend for food quality and value and it lived up to the hype. Our waiter was attentive and we were served promptly. Bread and salad were excellent starters. The steak and frites was outstanding. The special sauce was a mixed bag - half of us enjoyed, the other half didn’t bother using any, even for the frites. For our first visit, we had dessert. Kids had the giant sundaes and we enjoyed a moist and delicious carrot cake. We’ll definitely go back.
I’m kinda sadden to give them 5 stars because it makes me worried that it won’t be as easy to get a reservation. Lol this place is awesome! Our waiter Chuck was on the ball, we had great service and enjoyed our time there.
We were in town for my birthday and stopped by. We went to the Capital Hill location several times in the past, and it has now moved to Arlington. The food is consistently good. We were also pleased with our dessert choices.
It was good value for money and the food is amazing
An outstanding value for steak and pomme frites lovers. A great concept that I wish was mimicked by other restaurants.
Really bad service. Waited for almost 10 mimutes for server to take order. Drinks never came. Not planning in going back
