Mediterranean Restaurant - Carmel
Simply an awesome place. Awesome staff and they surprised my wife with a birthday celebration and sing a long.
Excellent food and hospitality....
Had a great time. Service was outstanding as they happily accommodated a special request for us.
Will definitely be back.
We’d indicated on our reservation that it was our anniversary. When we arrived, the hostess greeted us warmly and the server brought us each a complimentary flute of champagne with his best wishes. The smoked salmon appetizer was delicious and large as was the “Great Greek salad” entree topped with gyros and the Greek combination plate. As we finished our main course, a host who had been playing a tzouris, brought the cook out to sing “Besame Mucho”. The host came over to us & to another couple also celebrating their anniversary and encouraged us to stand up and dance, which we did. When we declined dessert, our server brought us a small, delicious baklava and said how honored he was that we’d chosen to celebrate our anniversary at the Mediterranean restaurant. It was an unexpectedly unforgettable evening. Kudos to the Mediterranean team for making it so special.
The food and service was excellent. There was always someone dropping by to make sure nothing was needed. The servers and managers (?) were very friendly. The only downside was how noisy it was inside. The food was delicious and the portions generous.
This restaurant is owned by the people who own Dametra Cafe, a Mediterranean restaurant up the street. We had been to Dametra’s a few years back, and I mistakenly thought that I was booking that place. This restaurant has the look and feel of Dametra, and the same menu, only the prices are a couple of dollars more, per item. It appears to be their overflow that takes open table reservations. That being said, if you're Looking for really good Mediterranean food in Carmel, this is the place to go! We arrived early, around 6pm And the restaurant was not busy, and the noise level was really low. We had the babaganoush appetizer, which looked a little whiter than traditional babaganoush, but was very flavorful. The lamb kabob plate came with rice, and Greek salad. It was very tasty. The Vegetarian plate, came with 2 falafels, that we’re a little dry, hummus, rice and Greek salad. The portions are very generous, so come hungry! They have a large menu, with something for everyone. They also have a nice wine list. This is a place that we will definitely come back to.
Visited over Memorial Day weekend. It was very busy, but the staff still managed to get our food our fairly quickly. The food was delicious and the service friendly. Fun place to come for a bday. There was a table celebrating a bday and the staff pulled out a string instrument, percussion instruments and sang a song and got people in the restaurant up and dancing.
Great food. Wife loved it. Great service.
This was the best dinner ever! Service and food were amazing and we had the best time here!
Food was delivered fast and was accurate. Friendly service. Lamb was cooked a little over but still very flavorful. Bread was warm, fresh and tasty.
Gute mediterrane Küche. Getränke Preise etwas überhöht. Aber das sind die Kurse in Carmel-by-the-Sea.
Great salads for lunch.
Great food and service. Excellent value for the whole family
Best mousaka and lasagna ever! Fun atmosphere - music, clapping, singing - a really fun place to eat
We had great service. We were there for an anniversary dinner. Shrimp skewers were delicious. The lamb shank was chewy and green beans tough. The owner listened to our complaint and might have made an adjustment if we hadn’t paid already.
Wonderful service. Great spot to eat!
We had the lamb kabobs with basmati rice and Greek salad which is always amazing. They bring complimentary homemade humus and pita to your table which is a nice touch and very tasty. The owner is very friendly and accommodating. Two of the employees sang and serenaded the tables which was fun and nice surprise. Always visit this restaurant when visiting Carmel.
Favorite restaurant. Always consistently great
Excellent Greek and Mediterranean food. Nice ambience yet casual atmosphere. Service was extraordinarily friendly. Prices decent for Carmel. Good for a date but we also saw families with young kids enjoying themselves.
First visit and the food was excellent. Friendly servers. Excellent wine selection. Best smoked eggplant spread I have ever had.
Food was excellent , as usual. The staff performed a song shortly after we arrived. It was so loud it made conversation impossible. I actually covered my ears because it was painful. Thankfully it was only one song. If they had continued we would have left and dined elsewhere.
I loved the food and the service here. I’ll definitely be back again!
This was our first time here, and we LOVED it! The food was incredible, Mediterranean food is my favorite, and this is the best I’ve had in a very long time! The hummus starter was creamy and delicious, great balance of garlic and lemon. I had the sand dabs, and they were perfectly done. My husband had the chicken kebabs, and he said they were moist and delicious as well. They gave us a free piece of baklava at the end, and it was fabulous! I have a new favorite restaurant in Carmel!
Great food, the owner was there checking on everything. Very nice overall - can’t wait to go back
Perfect Casual! Low key, great food!
Best calamari I’ve ever had. Fantastic dinner and service. We will definitely be returning.
This may have been one of our best dining experiences. We were celebrating my wife’s birthday. They serenaded her in fact the entire restaurant started dancing. It was a magical evening. Thank you for making it such a wonderful experience.
Good atmosphere but a bit disappointed with the food. It was not bad, but I was expecting better. Overall would recommend this restaurant for a dinner or lunch in Carmel.
Our third or fourth time at this restaurant. Every time the service has been excellent. Friendly, accommodating, rapid, attentive. I had lamb shish kebab and it was done medium (as requested). Rice, lamb...all was excellent.
Order a wine I was not familiar with from the list. Turned out it was not to my taste. The restaurant took it back graciously and didn't charge. That's as it should be but I was delighted by how graciously they accepted my error. Really very nice. The musical interlude at about 9:00 is always fun.
First visit — excellent menu and presentation!
Our family had a wonderful meal here on Thanksgiving! We enjoyed the live music and the food was incredible!
We enjoyed a great dinner at Mediterranean Restaurant in Carmel last week. My wife, son and I were in Carmel for Thanksgiving week and wanted a place where we had many options including vegetarian. Mediterranean was the right choice. Food was great tasting and plenty of choices. We ate well and enjoyed the live music as birthdays were being celebrated. Service was very good and staff warm and friendly. We'd go back when in Carmel.
A great meal!
Good food and service. Parent restaurant, Demetra, is just a few doors down. Both restaurants have people waiting outside for dinner. Recommend reservations. I can't go to a Mediterranean/Greek restaurant without having the flaming Saganaki. "Opa!"
I've been to restaurants that use a softer cheese. Mediterranean uses feta cheese, which is fine, but doesn't have the smooth texture to smear on pita bread. My husband had the combination plate which was very good. I had the vegetarian plate--also very good. Generous pours of wine. They gave a nice complimentary dessert of baklava. Overall a nice dining experience.
We had a reservation and waited just a few minutes for the table to be set. It was a very busy evening and the service was excellent. The food amazing!! Great menu snd atmosphere. We will go back soon.
Delicious food and friendly service. A very happy atmosphere.
Really enjoyed the food, energy and the attention of staff.
Great service! We were able to get a wine that wasn’t even on the wine list, simply by asking! Great staff!
Excellent Mediterranean food choices. Very tasty and nice sized portions for the appetizer (Mezze Platter for two) and the entrée (the Gyro plate was great). The place gets packed, so reservations are a must. Beware - the wine list on their website is not at all accurate.
We eat here often as the food and service are consistently some of the best in Carmel. Small selection of wines by the glass, but they have what we wanted and we enjoyed them. House-made humus very creamy, not real garlicky. Wife had the Dametra pasta - chicken was very tender and the pasta al dente - great flavor, not real creamy. I had the lamb shank - smaller than most I have had, but was plenty of food - very tasty wine reduction sauce. Service is excellent - we probably had every server visit our table in some capacity, as well as the two owners - great attention to detail. Always a good time - always a good meal!!
