Mediterra Ratings and Reviews
This is my fourth time eating at Mediterra. The atmosphere is still warm and inviting; and the food is still absolutely delicious. The variety and diversity of the vegetables that are used in the dishes are flavorful and give the dishes more depth. In my opinion, this is one of the things that sets Mediterra apart from other restaurants. For a starter, I had the Tri Color Salad. I didn't know all of the vegetables that were used in that salad, but I can tell you it was absolutely delicious and fresh - I wanted more! The bread basket on the table is also a stand-out feature. I love the lighting - it's just right for evening dining.
I've been dining here for years and while the food is always been very good, I think in the past year or so it has gotten even better. A same that the service can be hit or miss. Also the noise level has always been high as there are so many hard surfaces. Recently I've also been bothered by tables that are simply too close together making private conversations impossible. All that said, the food will bring me back, but perhaps not quite as often.
Although the wine list may appear intimidating, the soft spoken sommelier from Tuscany always makes amazing recommendations. He recommended a Zenato Amarone which would have never hit our radar-it was amazing. He will proudly talk about the region, the grapes, the wine making process, etc so engage him in conversation and ask questions, his knowledge is endless. We enjoyed the mid range priced wine he suggested which paired well with our food and renewed our interest to further explore Italian wines. Great place to explore great wines with an amazing and one in a million“guide”!
Food is always good but also overpriced, as are the drinks. Would love to eat here more often if it was a bit more affordable. Seemed to be understaffed on this occasion, but that is not our server's fault. She was lovely. The atmosphere is always enjoyable.
This was our second time eating here with the last being brunch. This dinner was excellent. I had the pork tenderloin which was perfectly cooked. The hummus and calamari was delicious. There’s a large outdoor covered patio that would be perfect for warmer weather. Service was courteous and prompt. If you’re looking for an upscale dining experience in a casual, warm setting, I would highly recommend this place.
Not good as usual. My husband likes the place Not I. Main dish extremely salty. Didn’t send back because we wanted to dine together. Our dessert was served to another table and they were eating it when the waiter realized the mistake he picked it up from there table and put it on ours. That’s when I freaked out!! Not very well organized need to regroup
From the time we walked in until the time we left, we didn’t feel that the experience was very inviting. Service was mediocre and chairs were removed from our table without anyone asking if it was ok. The gentleman saw my “stare” and delivered our food himself without the waiter. My husband’s dish was way too spicy and the clams were soaked in salt water (black linguini and clams). My pork was seasoned only with salt. The meal did not meet the price. The wine selection was quite nice. We left feeling like we left our money without any regard of actually spending it. Won’t be back. NY has certainly spoiled us. It’s a shame because we live so close.
We went to see a show at the McCarter Theater and then afterwards walked through town. It was a short nice stroll.
We had never been here before and did not know anyone that had, so we went in a little nervous. We were all very pleasantly surprised by the wonderful food, and great wait staff .
We all tried something different and it was all wonderful. Can't wait to go back.
Food and service were great. My only disappointment is the table set up. A table for two means eating with other guests. These tables are crammed so close together, you can hear the other party ‘s conversation and they can hear yours. The tables are so close together, it is difficult to get between the tables to get to your seat, if you are sitting on the far end.
I ordered the pork tenderloin and requested that it be "cook through but not dry." It was cooked to hardened chunks. My husband's steak was over-cooked, though he requested "med rare." The other member of our party ordered the whole wheat pasta, that he said was good, but the "sauce"was insufficient. It seemed more like a side dish than an entree. We will not return.
Second visit to Mediterra and both were really enjoyable experiences. Host was very accommodating when we arrived more than hour early for our reservation. We were given the option to sit at the common tavern tables in the bar area which we accepted as it was a more casual setting. Wait staff was very pleasant and meals were fresh, flavorful - top notch! Enjoyable dinner experience and beginning to our weekend visit with our son.
On a Tuesday pre-theatre in Princeton, we had a lovely tapas meal with White Sangria offered by our attentive waiter. We had Arancini, Spiedini, Octopus and a lovely little gem salad. All delightful. Nice timing by the Servers got us out in time for the performance.
