Meddlesome Moth Ratings and Reviews
Food was great. I had Grilled Oysters which were very tasty. BBQ Shrimp as a main course, which was outstanding. And Cherry Cobbler for dessert, which was good. Food exceeded my expectations. The service I received from my waitress was lousy however. She seemed genuinely disinterested. Perhaps my ordering alcohol made her feel that the bill wouldn’t be enough for it to be worth her effort. Or maybe I rubbed her the wrong way. I saw other tables getting what looked like good service, so I’ll presume I experienced an isolated incident. I’d go back, if I found myself in Dallas again. But I’d avoid the waitress I had at all costs.
A friend recommended the place and it’s become a favorite. The decor is refreshing and inviting. Food is exquisite. The mussels are ridiculously good and it takes all my self-control not to just drink the sauce through a straw. Cocktails and beer selection are great. Service always on point.
We’ve been here quite a few times, but the Valentine’s Day fixed menu was just short of terrible. The dessert was OK. The steak and sides were on par with Golden Corral quality. The appetizer was good (oyster duo). The salad was as after thought. For $190 (with tip) for two I would expect at least their typical quality. My recommendation is to skip this place on any fixed menu night.
Great evening out to celebrate a birthday. Had wonderful service, an attentive waiter who answered questions about the menu, and overall it was an awesome experience. Food is outstanding with everything tasting fresh, unique menu items, and the food came out very fast and hot as well.
My first time to the Moth, and my husband's second time. Wow! Impressive drink menu, fantastic service, and wonderful food. I was amazed and plan to return. Not too noisy (love it), and they have a bistro-ish feel inside.....well decorated and comfortable. The service was so good! You can tell our waiter knows his stuff and cares about his customers. Don't find that very often these days!
It was a little louder than I normally like for a dining location. But it was due to so many people having such a good time, so it was easy to just go with that flow.
Wait staff was really good. Even though you had a designated server, if you were looking around any staff person would ask if you needed something.
They had a large, expected group of 45 arrive just after we were seated. That slowed down a cocktail refill according to the wait person, but didn't really notice ourselves.
Food was good. The "sharing" plate theme was well explained leading to a great dining experience on a variety of great food.....I've already recommended this place to several people.
Group of 6 really enjoyed our late nite after sport get together! Amazing Beer List! I loved the music has a slant toward alternative in a nice quiet way. Waiter picked perfect beer by my description of what I like. Good Variety of food choices liked by all. My hummus had cayenne on top and wish I was advised beforehand. So I couldn't eat all of my food choice. Definitely will go here again. NO Parking to be found, so plan to valet.
Two or three things we had were truly outstanding: the confit duck wings, collard greens, and a cocktail whose name I don't remember, but it was basically an old fashioned made with an infused Scotch. I've had a lot of different cocktails over my 60 years, but that was my GOAT so far! I would rate the duck wings as the best duck I have ever had also. The beer flight, mussels and wagyu beef tartare were all very good also, as well as my wifes' cucumber-infused cocktail. I keep thinking of this place for all the beers on tap they have, but their food is really outstanding!
Second time to this restaurant and it seems to be a consistently pleasant experience. We had reservations but ended up just staying at the bar to eat. The bartender made great drinks and was attentive and friendly. As for food, we ordered mostly a series of appetizers, all of which were tasty and unique.
I would definitely dine here again.
Had a great time dining at Meddlesome Moth, per usual! Always appreciative of this restaurant's willingness to accommodate same-day (and in this case, morning of) reservations. We came for brunch as a party of 3 and had a fantastic time despite the high noise coming from a large birthday party and a rowdy (loud) table of heavy drinkers next to us. Will definitely come back!
Great food, great service, but challenges with parking. We attempted to valet as we didn't see any available parking lots. There was a long line and a 10 minute wait while the valets negotiated movement of multiple cars within their tiny lot. The valet service deserves a raise because they manage a live version of the Parking Panic puzzle game.
Booked a reservation at was excited given I received an unsolicited recommendation. Our server was attentive and engaging. Food was excellent. The food was hot and visually appealing.
The issue leading to the Overall poor rating, a server for another table spilled an entire tray of Mimosa on my 11 year old son, completely soaking him and his clothes. He was upset and embarrassed. He went to the restroom to try and dry off and clean-up, by the time he returned his meal was cold. The restaurant didn't offer to remake his meal but did take the cost of his food off the bill. I would have expected the restaurant, given the issue, to adjust the bill to appropriately reflect the incident.
We had a great experience and would definitely come back for another date night. Overall we tried four different dishes plus dessert and coffee. The duck wings stood out the most - flavor was fantastic. The Chicken Oyster special stood out, the Pig and Fig was great, and the farro side was a great addition of vegetables when we were feeling a little too decadent. The only slight disappointment were the ahi tuna sticks, we thought the tuna was a little over cooked but the sauce was great. Coffee and the bourbon bread pudding were the perfect way to end our night. Great drink selection and an overall perfect date night.
A small group of us gather here when we are all in town for business. We always enjoy the company and the evening. The variety of selection is as wide as it is interesting. We each pretty seasoned experimenters and delighted to explore. Must deduct 1 star on our food as the Rabbit Pot Pie we found a bit bland and the crust looked a little commercial, it was good just not as great as the other dishes were. We will be back!
I made a last min change in the reservation from 2 to 4 to 5! No problem! We seat at one of the u-shaped booths and it was perfect! The waiter was great and he suggests were prefect! A great place for friends and colleges to meet and eat! And the prices is great! Definitely my go to!
Drab interior, drab food slung on the table by a depressed looking waitress who never made eye contact. My table was next to a standing bar area, and my conversations were interrupted by men stood there when my daughters and I were trying to enjoy our time together.
Really depressing place to eat .
This place is just wonderful with small plates to share. We are big mussel fans and they did not disappoint!! We also had the BBQ shrimp and ribs (not as big a fan on the ribs but none the less good). We also had a caesar salad which was fabulous! I will go again once I visit Dallas again oh and did I mention tons of beer!
