Meat On Ocean
This is not your traditional world-class steakhouse though. The dry-aged meats on this menu are much more adventurous, and the Charcuterie Bar is one-of-a-kind. Overlooking the blue SoCal sky, MOO is the perfect setting for a date night or a catch-up session with friends.

To say we were extremely disappointed with the food and service would be an understatement. I selected this restaurant for a business dinner with a very important client. The service was terrible. Items were never received. Cold food that should have been hot. Separated sauces. Overdone food (burnt). Management needs to teach staff how to present and pour wines. Presentation of food was subpar. Word of mouth can make or break an establishment. Too bad this restaurant fell far short of the recommendation I was given.
We are picky about steak. They exceeded our expectations. Excellent!
The food was decent but the prices relative to the portions you get are quite
Split an appetizer and a 25oz aged NY Strip with a friend along with fries for the table. We left hungry.
The fries for the table fell far short. This was basically a single serving.
Staff was very friendly and attentive but the portion control was off-putting. Will not be going back anytime soon.
Service was prompt, food was fresh and seasoned well. Nice date night.
Awesome food and amazing views. The 12 ounce filet was truly amazing! If you are looking for a legit steakhouse this is the place.
Enjoyable date night.
Excellent selection of charcuterie, beef and seafood. Can’t beat the location and view of the Pacific Ocean. A must visit experience for out of town guests. Manager Robert was attentive and genuinely concerned that we were having a great dining experience.
45d aged bone in Ribeye was delicious as usual. My guests were satisfied with it and they will come to this place with their family next time.
Our server Ray was funny, knowledgeable, honest, and kind. The steak and the seafood were cooked just as requested - pure perfection! The sides of mushrooms and fries were so satisfying. My mother was sitting under a vent and was too cold; Camila the house manager for our section quickly turned down the AC, and offered hot tea to warm her up - so thoughtful! We will be back for the great service and delicious food.
Service was excellent. Waiter was very attentive and kind. Ambience was excellent with great decor and table overlooking the beach and sunset. Food was good, but I enjoyed the service and ambience more than the food.
First it's way overpriced. Second, the place was freezing cold. Third, all of the food when served was cold...and I mean "cold". And because of the a/c the food got even colder. Their so-called highly rated "fries" were only fair at best....nothing special. Only the service was good. This restaurant is way over rated.
Amazing place to eat if you ❤️ Meat!! Will definitely come back
This is our second time to Meat on Ocean and it was better than the first, which is difficult to believe. The cocktails were perfect, the charcuterie board of Iberico ham, chorizo and triple cream soft cheese disappeared and the chateaubriand was melt in your mouth amazing. Our server Kyle was flawless and forced us (lol) to have dessert. Great anniversary
Amazing food and service
It was our first night out on our honeymoon trip. Andrew was a great help and very attentive. The food was phenomenal my only issue was I should’ve ordered a bigger steak.
We stopped by for lunch on our way to the Rams game yesterday. Greeted by Ricky our server and Robert the restaurant manager, it was one of the best experiences in a long time. Stopped by for quick burger and beer, ended up sharing a couple of dry aged steaks and amazing cocktails. This is our new go to place when we come through town. The service and hospitality was second to none, the food was amazing too.
Love this place love our food
Wow, this restaurant is amazing in its overall decor and layout. The views are nice, especially at sunset. The food is exceptional, my friend did the yellowtail tuna and had a 16oz rib eye from Washington state, starter was tempura seafood plate, amazing. Rounding out with mashed potatoes and asparagus sides. A very good time. Will be back soon.
The food was amazing the service was great I went to celebrate my birthday and they surprise me with the cake and candle at the end it was a really nice experience.
Just a late lunch. The wife’s and I reservation was at 3:30, so it wasn’t very crowded. We were sat a table with a view of the water within about five minutes. The wait staff was quick and pleasant with good recommendations. Drinks, appetizers & food overall was really good. The oysters and charcuterie plate where are the highlights. Craft cocktails was a plus. Desserts also a big hit. Will definitely go back again
I didn’t like the 🥩 the meat.
Not juicy AT ALL.
I am a regular customer at this restaurant (with a standing reservation) and usually have a positive experience, however, this visit was subpar. It began when I was seated and the waiter did not return for 10 minutes to take my drink order. I was waiting for my friend to join me, and requested I could order a drink immediately while I waited. Next, when my friend arrived, he was given the wrong drink. Instead of leaving the incorrect one, which my friend offered to take, the server took it away and then did not bring the right one for another 25 minutes. Finally, we ordered a charcuterie board, which did not arrive until after our entrées. They ended up comping the charcuterie board, but I feel like that was the least they could have done given the series of issues.
Not amazing. They ran out of NY strip steaks by 630pm, which is hard to understand for a steakhouse. Also, the waitstaff was far overstretched. At one point, we were left for almost an hour without even a sighting of our waiter
Food was excellent and our waiter Max was great!!
Everything was superb, from the steaks, service, ambiance and wonderful wine list! If you love great steaks and wine then Meat is a must!
Our service was amazing William checked in multiple times and kept the night flowing seamlessly, we couldn’t have asked for a better server or a better ambiance or our anniversary!
Food is outstanding and you pay 💰 handsomely for it. Service however is extremely lacking. Wait staff are stretched thin with too many tables. We had to ask for bread because they had forgotten. Took us a wave down to order after 15-20 minutes with menus, ordering cocktails took waiter tone to get to us because he had too many other large parties. If u are not very hungry upon arrival u will be fine. But, if u are on ur way to a play at the Getty Villa, like the 6 of us were… may need to pick a different restaurant. Lastly, the valet parking they advertised AND we called to confirm before our reservation was not out until 5pm. This would have been helpful information to know when we confirmed that they provided valet. We went in circles looking for the valet only to see every other restaurant’s valet … finally had to pay for parking to make our reservation. Front staff not very welcoming … two young ladies upon walk in … did not greet us. Felt like “we” were bothering them or interrupting their social time. For the price of the food and cocktails … we would expect the same high quality service. I didn’t say anything to my husband at the time but after our play and approximately 6 hours later…. once our night ended and we were getting ready for bed, my husband turns to me and says, “wow was it me or did the service absolutely suck at that place?”. Nope, honey it wasn’t you …
We enjoyed this restaurant! The rolls were delicious!! We had 3 different appetizers the Tempura shrimp and calamari, the pork belly , and the meatball appetizer, all were delicious!! We all had steaks , one ribeye and the rest were filet mignon. Two of the steaks were undercooked but we didn’t complain and send them back. We had several sides mashed potatoes, French fries, and sautéed mushrooms. All of these were delicious. The highlight of the meal was our waiter Ray, he was affable, engaging and hilarious!! Thanks Ray, Great job
Most entrees were out, beer was out, street was noisy, we asked for things multiple times and weren’t brought them. Food was cold. Steak was drowning in butter.
Is it a Steak House? A Raw Bar? Absolutely and it excels somehow at both! You have your choice of Dry Aged cuts, all done in-house and cooked to your preferred specifications. These were tremendous and easy to share. The A5 Wagyu, on the other hand, was a personal indulgence that should not be overlooked. Charcuterie Board comes in 2 distinct sizes 5 or 7 items, although you should do your best to try everything. Can’t decide what to try? Ask your server. The selections she recommended set the night apart for us—more on that in a moment. There were also some very nice selections of oysters, but I must say you can’t go wrong with Kamamoto. On this visit, we opted for a few glasses of Riesling to start and a brilliant bottle of wine from their tidy but impressive list. We opted for recommendations across the board for desserts, and they did not disappoint. Left to my own devices, I would not opt for anything Apple-related, and I would have completely missed out on one of the single best deserts of my life. This apple tart is the stuff of legend, but you can decide for yourself.
As you can see our service was extraordinary without being smothery. Our ninja turned server for the evening was Megan. She moved quickly and deftly throughout the evening, never missing a beat. She provided us space but also made sure everyone had what they needed, often without them knowing she had been there at all. I cannot remember that last time a meal was this effortless, and isn’t that the reason we choose to dine out in the first place? Everyone says, “Oh yes, it was lovely, and we will come back,” for us, we already have our next reservation and can’t wait for round two.
Great steakhouse located right on Ocean Ave across from Santa Monica pier- ate dinner as the sun set over the Pacific. Wonderful experience, amazing steaks!
This is my son's favorite restaurant to dine at when I visit him in Santa Monica. The ambience is great with a view of the ocean afar. The staff have always been pleasant and helpful when trying to decide on what to order. The steaks have always been outstanding. The new manager (I apologize I didn't get his name, but his previous experience was with Ruth Chris's and only at Meat for 7 weeks) was very engaged, speaking with customers, ensuring all our expectations were being met and took time to chat with us.
It was a great time with an amazing view. Loved the dry aging process and how knowledgeable our waitress Megan was she went above and beyond for us. She recommended wine that would compliment our steaks and we loved her! Can’t wait to be back soon!
Food was alright. The sides weren’t anything special and the steak was ok. Service was excellent so I still enjoyed eating here. Would definitely recommend this place based off service alone
Great food and service! Definitely going back with more friends!
First time at Meat. We frequent at all the best steakhouses and decided to try Meat. First impression was the bathroom with every essential missing.. I alerted the front host and she said she would find someone to restock it. The host did get us a very nice booth by the window which was the best part of the evening. The food was decent.. we had to send our crab legs back because they were cold on the inside. When we received the fresh ones, they were perfect. The prime ribeye steak was flavorful, but not something to return for. Sides were small and just okay. We might have given Meat another try in the future, but our server was really off putting. She had a fake demeanor and didn’t really return much after we mentioned the issue with the crab legs. We told her it wasn’t her fault and everything else was great. However she was often hanging around a high top table of two men and I overheard they were her friends. As a guest coming to dine, it’s off putting to see the waitress hanging around her friends and giving way more attention to her male tables. After we ate we just wanted to go.. we could have done dessert but by then we just wanted to move on with our evening. On my way out I used the ladies room again and it was in the same condition from two hours prior. I know this is a Santa Monica tourist spot, but for the price point I still expect good service and clean restrooms. Or else I could have gone to Cheesecake Factory!
Good quality and well butchered cuts of meat spoiled by indifferent cooking. Octopus appetizer was cooked on thicker portion of tentacle, but entire end of tentacle was charcoal. Every single steak ordered was at incorrect temperature. Medallions ordered medium but sent to table rare. Sent back. Sauces were insipid. Bone in aged rib eye was ordered medium but delivered very rare. Did not have the heart to send back given the potential cost to restaurant from having to refire an expensive cut. My wife's grass fed rib eye was entirely unseasonably as was the asparagus side dish. Wait service is some what amateurish. Appears restaurant has bee hit hard by labor crunch. Manager is very polite gentleman and we felt bad for him. May want to wait until restaurant resolves issues before dining here again. Top notch butchering let down by kitchen. Desserts are excellent and wine list is solid.
