A+ If you are an aged-meat lover, run, don't walk to Meat On Ocean. My husband and I went for my birthday, and each ordered a 90-day bone-in strip steak. Outstanding aged flavor. Really, top notch. Some restaurants will present their steaks as aged, but no real funky flavor can be found.
Atmosphere: We enjoyed the upscale food in the airy dining room. Well laid out with a noise level that allowed us to converse easily. It was relaxed, fine dining.
Food: We started with very tasty boardwalk-style crab cakes. I prefer boardwalk crab cakes and MOO does them well. Our dry aged strip steaks were perfect. We LOVED the quince goat cheese spread with the buttery rolls. Roasted bone marrow was predictably delicious, and the potato puree was a great accompaniment with our steaks.
Service: Our server, Jonathon, was terrific. He was attentive, informative, and enthusiastic about the menu, which was fun. A fellow aged steak love. The only downside to the service was us overhearing a rude young women speaking to our server aggressively. "Do better," she growled in a low voice. Really not professional and it made me uncomfortable. And again, our server was terrific, and he made our time there flawless.
We will be back and will recommend MOO to our friends. What a fun find and a great reason to drive to Santa Monica.
