Meat Market San Juan
Overrated, the price of wine is ridiculous, 140.00 for a 60.00 bottle of wine?? The service took long, but our waiter was very nice. Two issues we encountered, some guests had some kind of reaction to the food and made a scene and a waitress made a scene with a gentlemen who was supervising. The food is ok, I’ve had better quality and other places. I’d prefer not coming back. Tourists don’t know better so they settle for this place, it’s the ONLY reason why they must still be in operation. I cringe just by thinking of this place.
Excellent service! Impeccable ! I ordered picanha witch was very good, not spectacular but good. The lobster mac was good but I could not find any lobster in it. The highlight was the Brussels sprouts!!!!!!! OMG it was sooo delicious and crunchy....
The wine by the bottle was overpriced and the corking fee is $30 dollars, very high if compared to most restaurants in San Juan. Also I wish the lighting was better. It is frustrating to have to use your cell phone light to be able to read the menu. Overall I enjoyed the experience, mainly because of the great service and the hotel is very beautiful
Food was spotty. Some items were excellent and others not good. Seems like they are really trying. I hope they can get it right
We were vacationing with two of our teenagers and wanted to find a restaurant a bit kore special for the holiday. We all love a good steakhouse and thought we would give the Meat Market a try. We had stayed in the El San Juan hotel years back and new it had a good reputation for nice restaurants. We had looked into the reviews and realized that the only negatives were either slow service and/or expense. By our fifth day in Puerto Rico we became accustomed to the lack of rush per se and began to enjoy it. Coming from NY where everyone is always running it’s kind of nice to slow things down! As far as expense. You def get what you pay for and if you are familiar w a fine steakhouse you won’t see the sticker shock. Three of us had the filet and I will say they were cooked to PERFECTION. The sides of Brussels sprouts and Mushrooms were the best we have ever had. My teenage daughter went out on a limb and surprised us by ordering the wagyu meatloaf and before we looked over she had already finished it! Wine list was fantastic and service and servers were as good as the meal. Thank you for such a great night/. When back in PR we will def return!
We came back because we enjoyed our experience last year. This time the food was served cold and had to give it back to reheat. Appreciated they served freshly. cooked dishes. Service was inattentive
A disappointing experience. The service was extremely slow. The food came out cold. this was our fifth or sixth time at the meat market. Probably our last.
Very disorganized and unprofessional, reservations cant be cancelled. I will highly recommend to skip this place and prevent headaches
Very disappointing experience for the money. Food was average, service sub par and even though I told them it was s birthday dinner they did not even ask me if I wanted anything special done.
Where do I start...
7 PM reservation and already out of Empanadas as an appetizer. Ordered sliders instead, ok but not worth the cost.
The waitress took away our first drinks before they were empty... when you are paying that premium for cocktails it would be nice to finish.
Next round of drinks come and there is a hair in the drink. She brought a new one but no apology.
Next our steaks arrive. They were both so undercooked it was dissatisfying. The special came with a lobster tail served with truffle butter. The truffle butter arrived at the table after the lobster was gone.
A $400 meal with so many issues and all we received was a complimentary dessert.
Disappointed because everyone else I spoke to that evening had a great experience
The food was ok , I ordered the surf and turf with one cut of steak and received the wrong cut and when I received my bill I felt I was ripped off , maybe there was a language barrier I don’t know but what can you do the meal was not worth the 380.00 that I had to pay . When I come back this is one place that I will be avoiding. This was by far my worst dining experience I have ever had. I am not one to complain but maybe the waitress and waiters should listen to what the customer wants. I could have said something when they brought me my bill but did not want to make a screen in front of the other patrons, out of respect.
My husband and I dined there while on vacation. The service was spectacular and the food was delicious. Half way threw our meal I started not feeling (unrelated to the restaurant) and the general manager took care of my entree. He was so kind about it, especially considering it wasn’t the restaurants fault. Prices are a little high but completely worth it. Highly recommend.
The steak was excellent. My boyfriend had broken his wrist that day but we still made it there. The chef cut up the steak and the waiter came over and said he would cut the rest. Now that’s amazing service. The oysters and shrimp were fantastic. Also the butter sauce was amazing. Great drinks too. Highly highly recommended. Thank u to all the people at el San Juan hotel. Best place ever.
I believe it was waaaay to expensive. Better restaurants for a more reasonable price are available nearby
I ate the Wagyu filet ($95) with a fork only! It was delicious Definitely on the higher price end It’s loud with vibrant music playing
From the moment we sat down the waiter cane over and welcomed us along with his assistant waiter . They were very attentive. The food was delicious and reasonably priced for what we ate. The Wagyu beef was amazing which was offered as a tasting trio - different nice option. The Tuna Tartar was delicious good quality and more than enough for two to share.
Would def go back when I return to Puerto Rico and would highly recommend to others
The crudes and the main courses were excellent. The time waiting for the dessert was more than 30 minutes and the desserts are not up to the quality of the food. I tried the sampler and was disappointed. Work with the desserts and they will be an EXCELLENT restaurant.
Great food, service and, atmosphere
Service was exceptional and Salmon very good. Market Sample not quality we were expecting.
Wonderful experience. Had a drink at the bar before dinner. Dinner service was excellent and food was superb. I loved the preparation of the Brussels sprouts. Very unique.
It was wonderful. Our last night at the El San Juan Hotel was our anniversary - this restaurant made it very special. Food was delicious and the service impeccable. We will definitely return next year. Thank you! Highly recommend!
Prices are just plain out of sight. My wife had two lobster no side dishes and the price was $72. The air conditioning was very cold. The salad was a large bowl of lettuce, without any cucumbers , onions or other type of ingredients.
Excellent all around. Food and service were outstanding. Everything we ordered was great.
My wife and I came here for a romantic dinner. The server was knowledgeable and very attentive throughout our dinning experience. The food was to die for and dessert was just delicious. I only had one issue, it took about 20 minutes after the table was clean for our server to swipe our card. My wife had to go and I was left there waiting alone until someone finally came to our table.
This is not enough to ruin my experience, but it was a bit frustrating.
Snooty attitude by front of the house staff.
We had 2 waiters and what it seem to be a “host” and the interruption was constant. Is nice to be asked how the food is going but not 3 times by 3 different people.
Excellent! The whole staff was friendly and attentive. The food was delicious. Highly recommended
Super great to see MM open again. Great service!
Fantastic steakhouse one of the best anywhere
The service was very good, however, I assume because I was wearing jeans and a golf shirt, they placed us in the back room near the bar. We were the only people seated in this area. The people at the bar were so loud, my wife and I had to yell to hear each other. Since this began when we were about half way through our meal, we did not request that our table be moved. At the end of our meal the maître de came by and asked how everything was. When I told him about noise from the bar, he apologized and said to tell him next time. Obviously when you get the "tell me next time" speech, he really doesn't care that your dinner was not a pleasant experience. The proper thing to do would have been to offer a dessert or drink.
More importantly, the steak was not very good. I go to many business dinners at steakhouses and the Meat Market would rate at the low end to middle end of the range.
Very good restaurant. Missed the temp on a $125 Tomahawk. Service very good and personable. Found restaurant impeccable.
Excellent or business, casual or romantic meetings.
Excellent quality of meat and cooked to perfection
The experience was good overall. The staff was friendly and helpful but they need to work on checking up with tables better.
My husbands steak was delicious. I ordered the Wagyu meatloaf which ended up being porkbelly wrapped around a couple thin slices of meatloaf. Anyone who has ever had porkbelly knows it’s mostly fat. When I expressed my displeasure to the manager he told me “I’m sorry you don’t like bacon”. If it had actually been bacon it would have been much more flavorful. They really need give management a crash course in customer service. Being flippant with a dissatisfied customer is not the way to gain repeat business. I can just as easily go to Ruth’s Chris next door. ......in fact, next time I will
Good large portions tasty quality well prepared. Attentive service No pressure on pace of meal
Each course we had was prepared with exquisite detail the only critical part on this entire experience was some of the wines that we ordered that were aged were not the same vintage on the wine list but there was a disclaimer in the bottom saying as such
Haven't been to Meat Market San Juan for a few years and I am so glad we returned. Had a great cocktail at the bar while waiting for our table and the bartenders could not have been nicer. Our service during our meal was also impeccable. Oh, and the food, it did not disappoint at all. Had a great steak with their corn, mac and cheese, and truffle mashed potato side dishes. All were out of this world. I definitely recommend Meat Market San Juan.
Nice food, great ambiance. Crab cake too spicy, less is more. Overall delicious food and good service.
Quality of meat was poor and not cooked as ordered. When steaks where served they where cold.
8oz NY was on the menu for $30 but was charged $33 on the check.
Ordered a bottle of wine and was told they where out of that vintage but charged it on the check anyway along with the second vintage ordered.
At the end, the wine that was not served and the two steaks was credited on the bill.
Lastly, food took about 1 hr 10 mins to be served.
