Meat & Potatoes is a high end gastropub in downtown Pittsburgh. Its kitchen takes as its inspiration the idea of elevating comfort food to a gourmet level. Its chefs are inspired by fresh, seasonal ingredients and its bar staff creates innovative cocktails and serves a range of wines by the glass and draught beers, as well. The menu at Meat & Potatoes is a new take on basic. There are classic appetizers like fried pickles, grilled bread and fried Brussels sprouts, as well as more innovative fare like fried pigs ear and buttermilk fried chicken liver. Meat & Potatoes mains include pot roast, salmon and lamb neck cassoulet.

Steak was perfectly cooked to medium rare as requested. Frites were so thin and crispy. creamed spinach and carrot side dishes were so good. blue cheese stuffing in the olives in my dirty martinis as delicious but wish the olives were a little larger.

This was the third time I’ve been to this restaurant. The first two times we ordered the half chicken and Lionease potatoes and asparagus the food was incredible! Unfortunately, the Story experience that we had today was less than subpar. The half of chicken was incredibly tiny. It was not a half a chicken or quarter of a chicken. It was a chicken leg and a chicken thigh with potatoes for $40. In addition to that the food was not nearly as delicious as it was the first two times we (group 4) at this restaurant. They must have a new chef who is terrible. Never again! I do not recommend this restaurant

I think the best thing of the night was the waiter. He steered us in the right direction with our cocktail and food choices and was attentive all night long. Go with the Beef Wellington, you won’t be disappointed.

Meat and potatoes hit it out of the park! My mom, my sister and myself went there to celebrate my sister’s 25th birthday and then spend the evening at Hines Hall for a wonderful symphony experience! Josh was our server and nailed it out of the park. His witty made the experience all the better and added to the experience. We started off with the first course of the Wagyu carpaccio, lobster bisque, and the the rolls. The lobster bisque is to die for, and the texture of the carpaccio was no other with the kick of the peppers added a wonderful flavor and my mouth. the lobster bisque, rain supreme, and the first course. The second course was the steak and the sea scallops. Both dishes were amazing and accompanied each other so well, I would say the truffle aïoli that you get with the steak fruit was one of my favorite things of the night! With a truffle aïoli?? The night was copped off by a lovely auto drip coffee, and some more witty remarks to a bit farewell and safe travels over to Heinz Hall ! Definitely recommend me if you are in the cultural district and looking for a fabulous experience before your show !

I have been to meat & potatoes many times. This is the first time I remember being disappointed. I ordered the pork chop, which came smothered in what tasted like canned baked beans. The pork chop was overcooked and tough. We split a chopped salad, which was tasty and my husband liked the burnt ends appetizer. His steak was cooked Pittsburgh rare as requested, and he liked it. We were also celebrating my birthday, which was acknowledged at the beginning of the meal, but they offered nothing for the occasion and offered no gluten-free options for dessert. I understand not every place offers something for an occasion but they ask when making a reservation and considering the price of the dinners and meals and drinks it would’ve been appreciated
