This turned out to be more of a pop-up restaurant that over charges ($84 for a full rack of ribs … 7-9 bones). The food was tasty, just overpriced from our perspectives. The restaurant has no liquor license. There was no covid screening and the ambience lacked (no music, broken patio umbrellas, etc). Staff was friendly and dinner was served quickly.
Empty on a Friday night for a reason I guess. Food took extremely long to come out. I don’t think I have asked a restaurant if they can check on our order in a decade. American bbq is all about the brisket, and unfortunately the meat was dry. Before we ordered, we were saying it’s so easy to finish one pound of briskets all alone—-not when it’s dry like the ones here. The short rib and Mac and cheese were really good though. Price wise, bbq is always expensive $30+ and here is a bit more probably bc it’s on king street.
Great food and at a reasonable price. The fall of the bone ribs are very good, tender and smoked to perfection without drying up the meat
The waitstaff was busy texting on their phone and talking to each other.
Also it’s kind of weird that a place the makes barbecue has no beer to drink.
Great food, great service, great patio location, what more can you ask for? There were 3 in our party and we ordered the BBQ Platter for 2. We were all stuffed by the end, it was unbelievable.
I only wish the outdoor area was open, weather was nice but still it was closed.
Only downside was no beverages of an adult nature but the food made up for that. Definitely worth sacrificing an hour or 2 of no drinking with a group of friends to come here and enjoy the amazing food. We tried the BBQ meat as well as beyond burgers and everything was a smash
Food took a while but it was worth the wait. I had the platter. the mac and cheese could be better.
The food is great for the value. I enjoyed the mac N cheese, the Cajun chips, & the corn bread, but the brisket lacked flavour. I was also surprised that they don't offer alcohol. To me the whole point of a patio is to enjoy a cocktail or 2, so I was disappointed about that. This is a great place to bring the whole family if you want the BBQ without doing the actual work but if your like me and dining alone most of the time then it's better for takeout, especially since you won't have to cook the next day from all the left overs you will have.
Great food and staff were super friendly. Will go again once the steak menu is back
Amazing service and food. I would definitely recommend this place
Amazing food. My husband and I loved it.
Excellent food! The ribs are tender and full of flavour. We got the 4 person platter which comes with a combination of beef ribs and chicken and really enjoyed it. Fantastic meal! The host was very friendly!
Extremely expensive for the quality of food, quantity is adequate.
The food is so delicious! I love the patio outside and the brisket and Mac n cheese is to die for!!
Best meal ever! The meat are so soft and tasty, the platter are very generous and the service is amazing!! Worthy to try!
Loved it!! The smoked brisket is amazing! The servers were very accommodating!
It was very good food. We got the two person platter and it was enough to feed us both with plenty of left overs for lunch the next day. It was a little pricey, but it included dessert. The meats was delicious, but had a bit too much fat on the brisket. The pies were really good, I just wish the key lime pie was less sweet and a bit more tangy.
Great tasting food. Nice ambiance with excellent COVID protocol.
Meat and pie co is amazing. I am glad to have such an amazing halal option in town..
First time there. It is a place for people who work downtown. Paid $15 parking. I can have similar food at other locations and not have to pay for parking. I liked the beef brisket. Wife gad a pie. Half of that still in fridge. Daughter had mac n cheese. Half eaten. I'll stop by if I have to be in the area for work. Otherwise, not driving back just fir lunch.
Overall, I enjoyed the food and the service was also good.
Good food and atmosphere. Great to have halal good quality BBQ option in downtown.
It is halal restauran., thanks for that. Only proble was no tissue in three washrooms.Food and service was excellent.Definitely I will visit again.
Great food, great service. Can't wait to go back.
This is a good place to visit if you're looking to eat some BBQ as long as you're not expecting to eat any pork. This restaurant serves halal meat. They don't serve pork and they also don't serve any beer. Two things I did not know before we sat down to eat.
The food itself was pretty good. The ribs were a little burnt on top but the flavor of everything was good. I thought the Mac and Cheese would be better. The root beer and ginger ale drinks were excellent as were the pies at the end. I recommend the berry pie. Well worth the price.
Wonderful experience loved being here will be coming back soon
Servers were friendly and service was quick. Great patio. Portions were very large, so it was great value in that sense. The food, however, was not good. I ordered the Nashville Chicken and my friend ordered the BBQ for One. We spent most of our time trying to eat around the fat and connective tissue of both the brisket and chicken. I’ve never been anywhere where I had to essentially clean the meat myself as I ate. As for taste, the chicken was bland. The cornbread and coleslaw were good though.
Best bbq in town
Was a memorable eid lunch
Good food, I just wish we could do substitutions.
Amazing brisket and pies, not sure about the smoked tandoori chicken fusion though. Service was excellent and great value for money. Will be coming back for ribs and other items on the menu. Have no issues recommending the place to friends and family.
We ordered jalapeño Mac and cheese and cornbread. There was a full layer of jalapeños on Mac and cheese and the cornbread had so many jalapenos throughout it. We couldn’t have more than a bite. We also ordered grilled cheese which was simply wonder bread with kraft cheese slices. I also ordered the Nashville fried tofu and it had absolutely no seasoning just plain fried tofu. Not even a dip with it. Definitely did not justify the price point or the quality you’d expect for a King west location. Wouldn’t recommend.
The only thing missing was an ice cold beer but the food is incredible!!! And great service!
First time at the restaurant and overall good experience. Food is very tasty — great mac and cheese and sandwiches. However, we felt rather rushed by the servers and hostess. There were constant “table checks” (approx 10), in such small increments that it felt like my guest and I couldn’t really enjoy our meal for a couple minutes, before someone would come over to interrupt. My advice to management would be to allow guests to have some breather space before sending over servers to check on tables, especially when the plates are still very full.
Very good BBQ food, the ribs were ok for the price, the brisket was amazing but overall it was very good although a bit pricey but I’m these days I can understand, it’s hard for restaurent to make it out.
Excellent service, would go again.
the servers were extremely rude and it was not a pleasant experience at all
never wish to return
Yummy fooood and great service! Also the food came really quick. We had the BBQ for 4 people and we were a group of 5 and still had plenty leftover to take home. Loved it very much and will be back again
