My $80 prime rib was almost inedible! I could have cooked $20 steak from Costco and it would have been much better.

Overall everything is great. It’s a fancy restaurant so the prices are a bit higher and sometimes they were maybe a little too high but the quality of the food is outstanding so maybe it’s more the case of “what do I know?!”

Amazing dishes, and the service was the best I’ve had in the area. Out server Brandon gave thoughtful answers to questions and was detailed while remaining easy to understand. Amazing views, the drinks were better than expectations. The only complaint was we were seated in an otherwise empty portion of the restaurant. A group of four appeared about 15 minutes after we were seated and they were placed right next to us which didn’t leave much room on one side of the table.

View outstanding. Service wonderful and attentive. Dessert was the highlight of the evening - spectacular. Tenderloin was under-seasoned & I'd recommend more veg on plate. Enjoyed the octopus. Pan con tomato was soggy. Great drinks, good wine list.

We were disappointed this time around at MDRD. We had the AJO BLANCO CON MELÓN and it lacked flavor and was gritty. Kind of like drinking melon just with corn meal floating in it. We also had ENSALADA DE PEPINO, which was good but again lacked any interesting flavors, although the presentation was nice. The SALMÓN CON TRUFA was the best item we had all night. Interesting mix of flavors. The VIEIRAS AL AJILLO were nice. The TIGRES was inedible, and was supposed to contain muscles, but tasted like bland rice pudding fried on top of a muscle shell. We did not try the entrees. Cocktails were good. Overall, the food did not merit the price.

We chose MDRD for our anniversary dinner. It was one of the best choices we could have made. Dinner consisted of the scallops in a chule sauce, patatas bravas and octopus. I would highly recommend MDRD!

Beautiful location with excellent service. The drinks were expertly crafted and delicious but we were very underwhelmed with the food. For our main courses we ordered the steak and black cod. Both were cooked well but under seasoned and lacked flavor. When paying that much for a meal, one would expect things to be a 8/10 minimum. Would go back but just for drinks.

Fantastic place to eat whether you very familiar or unfamiliar with Spanish cuisine. Sunset tables are awesome but steps are also great if you want some privacy. We’ll be back soon as possible.

First time at MDRD and our experience was perfect. The service at all tiers was outstanding. Both hosts were welcoming and informative and our server, Shirley, was a star. She made a genuine connection with us from the start and she was extremely knowledgeable about every aspect of the menu. The ambience and the view are superb. We loved the food, especially the pato and lamb chop tapas. Their signature dessert is mind-blowing. Overall, we had an amazing experience and look forward to returning.

Absolutely outstanding. Food was divine - we had a larger group and opted to get all the tapas on the menu. There was a ton of variety and the staff was extremely knowledgeable about the menu. There wasn't anything on the menu that fell short of being loved by everyone in our party. Cocktails were also phenomenal. The view is the cherry on top! This was a fantastic experience - highly recommend!

The restaurant is high in the sky - cool view. The drinks were excellent (Expat, Solera, Flamenco). The staff was lovely - kind, attentive, professional. The entres were great and perfectly cooked (tenderloin, ribeye), the scallops were delicious, but the patatas bravas could have been warmer and more seasoned (though they did come stacked in a cool pyramid). The vibe is lively and bright. Our table was high-top-ish and not necessarily my style or idea of comfortable (something about eating an $80 steak while my feet aren't touching the ground feels off) but I'm nitpicking now only for those who might have bad backs. It's definitely a fun experience and makes for an excellent date night! I would still highly recommend - I'm glad Grand Rapids has cool spots like this.

MDRD is an attractive, contemporary restaurant with a unique layout, friendly service, and wonderful views of Grand Rapids. I was so looking forward to some spectacular Spanish cuisine that matched the reviews and sophisticated ambience, but I was left dumbfounded and disappointed. For an appetizer I ordered the toasted ciabatta tapas topped with chopped tomatoes. The bread was very lightly toasted and too soggy to pick up. The staff took it back but its replacement was still wet and soggy, so we cut it with a knife and fork. I have to admit I am not a connoisseur of Spanish cuisine, but soggy toasted ciabatta??? My husband had the scallop tapas which met his expectations. For dinner, My husband ordered the Fideua De Marisco, shrimp mussels, artichoke, fennel sofrito, aioli for his entree. He enjoyed it except for the shrimp which did not taste fresh. They were not crisp but somewhat rubbery. I ordered the Pato, a duck breast in a nice caramelized fig and sherry sauce. The duck breast appeared to be nicely prepared on the plate, but, unfortunately, the skin was not crisped and the fat layer was impossible to cut through. I should have sent it back, but after the ciabatta episode, I tried to hang in there hoping the next pieces would get better. Despite my strong teeth and jaw, the fat was unable to be chewed and swallowed and had to be spit out into my napkin. Need I say more? Would recommend for ambience, their cocktail and wine selections.
